Fit, Price, Sound Quality
I am addicted to earphones, especially the cheap ones. I buy them like candy. Most of them end up collecting dust in the cabinet after a few hours of use. I picked these up at NeweggFlash for $9. Didn’t expect much from them, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how good they really do sound. They are detailed. Vocals are crisp. The bass, which started off fast and loose, has improved with use. It’s still not what I would consider high-quality bass, but it's acceptable. High end is slightly harsh, but not to the point of being fatiguing, and that too has improved over time, mellowing a bit. What impresses me the most, however, is how airy the sound is, not something I expected for a set of headphones costing less than $10. Now, the fit- the bane of so many earphones. With the right pair of tips, these phones sit snugly in my ear canals, shutting out most of the outside world, and they do this without being uncomfortable. I wear them at my desk for hours on end and forget that they’re even there. Finally, build quality: These phones are fragile. After about two weeks of stationary use, in front of my desk, the left phone developed a crackling sound, like a loose wire or a damaged driver. I got one of the CS agents online in a chat. In two minutes, she processed an order for a replacement with expedited shipping. Keep the other pair, she said, or discard them. Best set of inexpensive earphones I have bought so far. Even at $25 I would consider them worth purchasing.
