Seagate picks up the phone. Hard drive does not vibrate. Help hold the computer down with the extra weight. Data remains on platters. Seagate is upfront about the terrible quality of this drive. RMA process with Seagate is rather is rather smooth if not slow.
Drive is only rated to run 8 hours per day by Seagate, so the other 16 hours is up to you. Drive firmware completely make perfectly good hardware useless. Seagate uses data from other motherboard manufacturers to pass the buck on quality. Two of the five drives I purchased initially were dead on arrival, of the remain 3 only one has survived my original purchase back in Oct '12.
Do not bother talking to Seagate tech support about the drive as they only seem to be concerned with what they consider "reasonable" usage of only 8 hours a day. They will then proceed to morph into a marketing department and sell you a new "enterprise" drive. Just RMA the thing and safe yourself the hours of torment.
If you happen to be in the 25% of users who actually survive the warranty period without replacement I would have a backup plan.
