Big and cheap
My first 1 egg review. Especially with hard drive reviews, be sure to look at how long somebody's owned it. After 2 years of pain and misery with these drives I had to write a review.
In 2 years, 14 out of 8 drives failed. That's a 175% failure rate. Originally ordered 8. 4 were DOA, another quickly died. At that point I should have just returned the whole lot and gone with a different brand. Since then some of the replacements have also failed. The drives don't seem to be very good with reporting SMART statuses either, of the 14, only two of those did any kind of SMART reporting before failing.
Go with another brand. This is NOT WORTH the extra 20 or 30 bucks you'll save.
When Seagate released these drives, they dropped their drive warranty from 3 years to 1 year. They know these are bad. Buyer beware.
