I've had it. I'm going to RMA this pestering annoyance.
Originally I had mentioned that I had some issues with the SATA ports dropping their connections and had a suspicion that it killed a drive of mine.
Now, not only is that still a problem, but when idling for >24hrs, the system will shut down randomly with the Event Viewer problem as a kernel power error, basically meaning that it lost power unexpectedly. Now, I realize that most may jump to the conclusion of the power supply (I would too), however, I have a 1000W EVGA 80 Plus Gold power supply on my system. This is a system that never had unexpected power shutdowns using a 600W Bronze from OCZ's subcompany. But anyway, after this most recent crash, another HDD is now dead. Recognized, but every block is bad according to OnTrack ER. Granted, this very well could be WD's fault, as it was a refurbished drive (and we all know how sketchy they are with those), but EVERY block being bad after a power outage?? ...I digress. I'm submitting an RMA.
Pay an extra hundred and get an Asus.
