This review is from: SYBA 2 Port Gigabit Ethernet PCI-e x1 Network Card - SY-PEX24028
Pros:
- Two Gigabit connections in the space of one
- Solid feel to the card (not that that means much).
- Works in the old Dell Dimension I threw it in to test.
Cons:
- POST fails on my Gigabyte EP45-UD3 (rev. 1.1) (which was the computer I bought it for).
Overall Review:
When I start my desktop with this card installed, all I get is lights and fans; nothing on the screen, and definitely no booting. I removed every other card installed (except for graphics, but at that point, I don't care anymore). I tried it in every x1 slot. I disabled the internal NIC. I disabled a host of other internal things. No joy. (It seems like mine is not the only Gigabyte board this has failed on, either.)
I proved to myself the card worked by installing it in an old Dell I have and it worked fine. I'll keep it around for novelty's sake until I find a new home for it (next desktop?).
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Customer,
We are sorry to hear that the device did not work as you had hoped.
Perhaps there was a slight configuration issue which caused the POST failure.
Update the motherboard/BIOS, and ensure that any system updates have been installed.
Allow the system system to install the latest generic device drivers for the chipset.
Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.
