This review is from: MSI K9N SLI Platinum AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
Very future proof with the AM2 socket, 6 sata slots and SLI. Gotta love the dual gigabit lan cards, and digital sound outputs. Very stable under ubuntu linux.
Doesn't work with my Belkin PCI IDE RAID card. I every time I boot, I get the message "Not enough space to copy option rom [00:00:00]" with this card plugged in. The drives don't show up in windows or linux. This is a bit of a deal breaker because The mobo only has 1 ide chain, and I have 3 IDE hard drives, and 2 ide cdrom drives that need to be hooked up to complete my new system.
Ubuntu recogonized the gigabit lan immediately, Windows XP x64 didn't see them until I installed the 64 bit drivers. This is probabbly the biggest con under windows since most everything else you'll do with the computer in terms of software updates requiers an internet connection. I copied the drivers using my USB memory stick.
On the whole, I think its a good board, the northbridge does get a bit hot, but really, its not that bad (what do you expect when you use passive cooling).
