Fix to slow WiFi

Pros:
Sleek laptop. I recommended it based on price and specs and purchased it for a friend, and, after sweating over the slow wi fi and almost returning it, I downloaded and installed a seemingly unrelated driver and got the wi fi running appropriately fast. See Cons for details. Minus one star for the slow wi-fi out of the box.
Cons:
WI FI was s-l-o-o-o-w out of the box. When I noticed the painfully slow wi fi speed, I ran all the windows updates. That did not help. Then I tried to update the wi fi driver with the Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 located in the HP support site for this laptop but that DID NOT WORK either.
As the last thing to try before returning it, I downloaded and installed the Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver and Software (American, International) (238.3 GB), and WHOA! THAT FIXED THE WI FI !!! And yes, the bluetooth works too.. Now my friend and I are happy with this laptop.
