A Lotta "Bang for the Buck"

Pros: Excellent Cooling for up to an 89watt CPU, Price, Small enough for most mATX and HTPC(Top is exactly 103mm from mobo tray in my Box). Measure Twice, Cut Once.

Cons: Barely a CON; It is a little tough getting the screws tight EVENLY on the AM2 bracket, but perserverance pays off.

Other Thoughts: The first week the temps were; 38-42C idle and 53-54C Max under light use. I thought Uh-Oh! After about a week it settled in pretty good. Ambient stable @ 23C/73F, C&Q enabled, Idles at 32C/90F with CPU Fan @ 1000rpm(Min BIOS % I could set it to without it Chugging/Cogging). Since then with 3 Browsers open, FlightSim Maxed, Listening to a CD, Everest monitoring, 100% CPU Use, I've only seen 48C/118F and CPU Fan @ 1895rpm, Max, I haven't seen the MOBO 100% power the CPU fan yet! No Biggie, Right? The specs Say "AMD Athlon X2 up to 5000+". I'm running the 89W version of the Athlon X2 6000+ 24/7. For $11.99(Aug 09) this thing is one of the best bargains on Newegg.

good cooler

Pros: The price is very good, and it has a back plate.

Cons: Intel ignores the problem that EVERYONE complains about being their stupid push down pin system on the stock heat sinks. Do they ever read any reviews? ever?

Other Thoughts: Buy this one if you want a good cheap cooler. I've used 3.

good for the price

Pros: works well enough but....

Cons: well not really a con but confusing, this heat sink idles above the stock heat sink (42c) but never goes above 52c even at full load while the stock heat sink would idle at around 33c but jump up to 66c at full load (in an antec 900 two w/ stock 3 fans at lowest setting and both heat sinks using arctic silver 5)

Other Thoughts: seems really nice knowing that its not going over 50c too much (which is my "im worried" point). almost forgot this thing is sitting on a slightly oc'd amd 5600+ (3.04Ghz) in a foxconn a7vmx-k mobo with 2 sticks g.skill pc2-6400.

Good, but not great.

Pros: Cheap. Gets the job done with good temps.

Cons: A little loud. At first I thought the 120mm fans were to blame but even after shutting them off for a test this thing is a bit loud.

Other Thoughts: For the price you sacrifice the quality and silence, but overall it is ok.

Not bad

Pros: Cheap heat sink with a 4 pin fan connector
Virtually silent even at full speed
Decent cooling ability

Cons: Somewhat difficult to install, but preferable to push pin heat sinks
Doesn't cool well enough to handle high wattage cpus on its own, you'll need some case fans

Other Thoughts: Not bad, definitely a nice cpu cooler
Thermal paste on the bottom was a bit junk though, makes it nearly impossible to remove the heat sink without heating it first

Pros: + Nice rubber mounts to reduce noise.
+ Good capacity for cooling (low 40s on a Pentium D 840)
+ Nearly silent even at full speed

Cons: - The plastic frame around the fan cracked in half when I tightened the screws all the way down. I've never seen a heatsink where you didn't tighten screws completely. Your mileage may vary, but LOOK as you tighten down to ensure the frame isn't bending. I had to epoxy mine back together, but since then it has been fine.
- Confusing and difficult installation (only CPU cooler I've ever seen like this).
- Directions are poor (you need to loosen the screws before the clips will latch onto the bracket).

Other Thoughts: I like this CPU cooler, it looks cool and performs well. Iwould have given it 5 eggs if it hadn't cracked in half. I'm not sure if it was something I did to cause it, but in that case I blame the poor instructions and confusing design.

silent

Pros: very quiet - if you use the PWM feature this is inaudible inside a good case. Cools low TDP CPUs such as E5x00, E7x00 sufficient.

Cons: Orientation! I have not seen a board where you can mount this to help cooling the Northbridge with the airflow from the fan. If you have a cool Northbridge this is not an issue but with my GF9300 integrated chipset reaching the 80C regions I had to replace this one.

Other Thoughts: I am a big fan of the pushpins. This one requires taking out your mainboard and installing a backplate. Pretty simple but takes a lot more time than the pushpin assembly. When you put the heatsink into the mainboard base make sure to unscrew the top two screws next to the fan. It will be impossible to clip the metal part if you keep the screws as they come out of the box.

Good cheap cpu fan

Pros: Not much noise, easy to install - there are screws on the sides to let let the clips down to make install easier, instead of trying to force or pry it on. Nice to have thermal compound already on heatsink, didn't have that with my first build:)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The fan on the top is held on with little rubber tabs - DO NOT pull them out of the sockets they're in! It's almost impossible to get them back in, I had to get a knife and shave the sides of them down some to get them to fit back through the holes.
