Adobe ADE Built-In, lots of features
2/4/2021 12:27:28 PM

Since I use Linux I can't use Adobe ADE on my computer. But, since ADE is built into the PocketBooks, I can borrow books directly from Overdrive (using the built-in Browser) or, buy DRM protected eBooks from various sellers (also with the browser). It's actually easier, however, to use the Send-to-PocketBook feature. Buy the book with your computer, tablet or smartphone, download the ascm file and send that ascm file to your PocketBook (with a provided pbsync.com address — the PocketBook does the rest. (The HD3 also allows multiple ADE accounts — you also get a new one from PocketBook when you register.) PocketBooks also come with the PocketBook Cloud, which allows you to sync to the PocketBook app on your Android or iOS device (or to another PocketBook) — and you can upload books to this Cloud from any other source. The HD3 also supports DropBox integration (which I haven't used). I don't use the feature much, but the PocketBook will also read an eBook to you (with headphones or a BlueTooth speaker) You can also download MP3 audio books or music and listen to these on the PocketBook (again, not a feature I really use). The screen is very evenly lit. It has 13 LEDs, 7 white and 6 amber. I'm impressed with its quality. The HD3 is supposed to be water resistant, but I'm not going to test that feature. The HD3 also uses a dual core CPU, so it's "snappy" when reading. You can load your own fonts and the PocketBook sizes them from 6 points to 30 points so, unlike some other readers, you can get just the right size. There is no way to change the "boldness" of the fonts, as some readers can do, but I chose a font I like and I don't have to worry about that. The HD3 is small and light. Get a good case. Apparently the Pocket Branded cases support "the sleep cover feature" but the case I bought doesn't. If there is one con to this reader, it's the placement and size of the power button. It's small and hard to get to, especially in the dark — but a sleep cover would solve that problem. Apparently you can add apps to the PocketBook — it comes with Chess, Sudoku, Klondike and a drawing program called Scribble. It has a decent (for an eReader) browser, an RSS News app, a Calendar app, a photo Gallery app, a Music Player app and a Calculator. This is not really why I bought this reader, however, so I haven't done much with these. One of my favorite features are the Page Turn buttons. You can even turn the touch screen off by double clicking the Menu button — so, if you have a spec of dust on the screen you can clean it off without jumping to a different chapter. Lots of features. The biggest ones for me are ADE built-in, buttons, great (300dpi) screen and support for most eBook formats (no KIndle DRM support). I'm a big fan of PocketBook readers now.

Pocketbook works fine, after I figured out how to make it display in English instead of Chinese.

Its a great reader
12/17/2020 7:13:11 AM

I'm a loyal customer)) My first ereader was Pocketbook. My the only reader. I used it for about 12 years. So when I broke it accidentally, I knew, that my next one will be Pocketbook too. Pocketbook color is very light, comfortable to hold. Its a little bit smaller, than I expected... The only thing I'm missing from my old ereader is night mode. I read at night only. When my toddler is sleeping)) So night mode would be great.
