The Wavlink Updated HDD Duplicator/Docking Station lets you copy an existing hard drive without having to connect to a PC. The HDD docking station connects two SATA HDD 2.5" & 3.5" at same time. Its USB 3.0 interface and UASP function offers faster transfer speed for maximum performance and the One-Touch backup feature makes it easy to protect your data.
In addition,It's different from the average product on the market, this Updated docking station is the real Second generation device, which can Support Offline Clone / Duplicator / Backup / UASP Functions with LED indicator all the steps ! Multi-IN-ONE
1. Wide Compatibility, No Driver Needed
2. Support offline Clone
The 334U-Red offer the offline clone/Duplicator Function, You are allowed to clone between disks without a host computer, we called this as “Offline Clone”. it’s was so easier than traditional date copy method.
Just Insert one hard drive in the Source bay
insert anther drive in the target bay
Press and hold the offline clone button for 3 seconds, the LED indicator will light up
press the clone button again, the offline clone operation will start !
3. Support USAP function,Data Transfer Speed up to 6 Gbps
Transfer files in seconds, not minutes,The 334U-Red Support UASP Function, data transfer easily reaches to 300 M/S while reading and writing on hard disk. Data Transfer Speed of up to 6 Gbps (SATA III ), 10 times faster than USB2.0. which improves transmission performance by 20% and reduces CPU capacity.
4. Time control - Smart LED lights
334U-Red working state real time control, With beautiful red and blue led indicator light showing the hard drive docking station working process, you can clearly track your data's progress during offline cloning from 25% to 50%, 75% and finally 100%
5. Intelligent Dormant,More Energy Efficient
Built-in Power Control Switch; Highly efficient (12V, 3A), Hard Drive Docking Station will be automatically entered into intelligent dormant state /sleep mode once no read and write in 30 minutes, to save energy and prolong its life.
6. Plug and play, Safety & security
It can be external on the desktop, Plug and Play, no driver installation needed, easy to use, Over current and short-circuit protection, avoid damage the hard disk and protect data security.Hot-swap support means you can use multiple hard drives with your computer without having to reboot.
What's in the box?
Our suggestion:
-When cloning, The target disk must be larger (memory capacity) than the source disk.
-Please backup files in the target hard drive before cloning.
-To avoid data loss, do not remove or insert drives when one drive is working in the docking station. Please power off the docking station before removing.
Pros: This docking station arrived promptly, decently packed and in apparent good condition. It does look sharp, and seems to do its job well. Have tried the drive clone function, following the manufacturer's guidance as written by using larger "target" drives. Source drive was a 2.5" WD 320 Gig, configured as an NTFS boot drive with two partitions (my backup for an auxiliary system). Both target drives were 3.5" HGST, one 3Tb, the other 4Tb. Both were "refurbs" bought thru Newegg and verified upon arrival using WD's Data-lifeguard software, and initiated as GPT drives. Both clones appeared to run as intended, except that the created partitions on the target drives were NTFS, not GPT. Thus, the full capacities of the target drives were not recognized by the system (W7 Ultimate). I reset to GPT using Acronis DD-12 without any difficulty. The clone partitions were identical in size to the originals. Have not yet had a chance to verify the bootability of the target images on actual hardware, but the boot image does show as bootable according to the Acronis DD-12. I sampled a few files from the data partition to verify readability without any problems Obviously, this thing can save a big chunk of time and aggravation, provided the user is careful to follow correct procedure (see cons).
Cons: It's important to note that the clone function DOES NOT WORK if the unit is USB-connected to a computer; it's strictly a stand-alone item when cloning. To initiate cloning, insert the source drive in the rear (power-plug side) slot and the target (larger capacity) drive in the front slot. Power up the unit and observe that the "source" and "target" lights will flash several times. When both are steady, press the red button and hold until both source and target lights start flashing. Release button, then IMMEDIATELY press button a second time to initiate the cloning process. Do this while the source and target lights are still flashing! If you wait 'till they stop, the cloning process will not initiate when you press again, you'll only get the steady lights as before. Note that the manufacturer's instructions are unclear on correct procedure here. If you do it right, the 25% status light will start flashing and you're on your way. Also, some reviewers have complained about the status telltale lights being either "on" or "off" at the completion of cloning. Actually, either condition will occur, depending on when you look. At completion, the 100% lights will be steady "on" for a short period, after which all lights except power go "off." Job is complete and unit can be powered "off" at any time after the 100% status lights become steady. Note well that there are no razzle-dazzle options such as re-sizing partitions, insertion of uncommitted space, etc. This is strictly plain-vanilla duplication; you need a decent drive-configuration software package to do more.
Overall Review: Recommended for personal/small systems use as a drive cloner/dual drive cradle up to 8 Tb per slot. Would definitely buy again.
