Can I replace the Hard Drive?

Yes, replacing the Hard Drive is fairly easy on this system. One will take out all the screws on the back of the system. Then carefully slide a case release tool between the plastic back and metal trim and work the back loose. Now it may come loose easily after removing the screws, but the first time I had to use this procedure.  After removing the back, the hard drive is easily located. One other thing to note is that the sata drive will have to be a thin 7mm, 2.5" drive.

how do you get it to go past 2.5Ghz? says it can go 3.5Ghz :/

Readyboost automatically overclocks it to 3.5Ghz when you're running something hefty like a demanding game. You'll know it's kicked in because the computer gets really hot. Make sure you keep it well ventilated!

changing drives on a laptop is usually fairly easy.  the hard part is just getting the backplate off.  once its off you can see components... hard drive, optical drive, etc.  you then simply remove the hard drive and insert your SSD (compatible to your laptop, i think most SSDs are laptop compatible, if not all)

I am looking at an Acer laptop that lists 6GB memory with a Radeon GPU that has 2 GB discrete memory.  Am I correct that there is 8 GB memory total with 2 GB dedicated to the GPU?

No. Dedicated memory is different from GPU memory. The 8750m has 2GB of memory (used for graphical processing) aside from the 6GBs of system memory (used for everything else). There is no sharing of memory between the dedicated graphics and the system.

Can you get Windows 8 Pro with this machine instead of Just windows 8?

You can buy an upgrade key, but not from Acer.

These functionalities are supported by 8.1 Pro and are not supported by non-Pro. Most people are fine with the non-Pro version.

It is actually a bit of both. You can change the graphic settings to use only the integrated graphics (the 8650G) which will offer less performance for more battery life, or you can turn on the dedicated graphics card (8750M) which will use more power (and produce a little more heat) but will give you proper gaming graphics.

Ive only played the trial version of Starcraft 2 which I assume would be the same at the full version. But it works quite fluently on high settings.

Whats the difference between the ddr3 and the gddr5?

Gddr5 is considered faster than ddr3 memory and increasing the amount of data band width between gpu and memory.

will this run league of legends tf2 counter strike smoothly? my old one crashes about everygame making me banned sometimes i want to make sure this wont do that from the reviews it sounds like it will run fine. Does the video card support pixel shader 2.0? or directX9.0c?

Hello, when it comes to games I am very critical on framerate. I can not do anything under 55ish fps. Althought this will run both games, it might not run on higher graphic settings and at a comfy 60fps. I found that low settings is the way to go for non choppy gameplay. Im not to sure about the pixel shader, I mean this does come with a dedicated graphics card with 2 gigs of memory for it so I'm sure you'll be fine. As for directx you're good to go. It can run from 9.0 - 11. I run Skyrim on medium just fine :)
