World’s Slimmest Gaming Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
ROG Zephyrus is a revolutionary gaming laptop that empowers hardcore gamers to dominate any battle. March to victory with the ROG Zephyrus armed with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics with Max-Q design, and a 144Hz IPS panel with an ultra-fast 3ms response time. All the hardware delivers gaming performance comparable to high-end gaming desktop, in a travel-friendly package thinner than all previous ROG laptops. An RGB backlit keyboard featuring anti-ghosting lets you fully unleash your gaming prowess. Comprehensive connectivity options include HDMI 2.0, USB 3.1 Gen2 10 Gbps, and Thunderbolt. Moreover, the sophisticated cooling solution delivers powerful, acoustics-optimized cooling, so you can game at your best without worrying about throttling.
Slim and Sleek
ROG Zephyrus takes thin-and-light gaming laptops to a whole new level. It has a slim profile just 16.9-17.9mm thin and weighs only 2.2kg, but that doesn’t stop it from packing 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics with Max-Q design—an innovative approach to designing the world’s thinnest, fastest, and quietest gaming laptops. An innovative hinge and fan module help keep the high-end GPU cool, resulting in a gaming laptop that’s portable enough to carry with you anywhere yet potent enough to compete with powerful gaming desktops.

Play It Cool
ROG Zephyrus is armed with an exclusive Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) that breaks all the rules. AAS combines intelligent design with innovative technologies to give gamers what they want: an ultra-slim laptop that runs cooler and quieter without sacrificing performance. When the laptop is opened, a portion of the bottom flexes to create 20% more open space for air circulation. Along with our unique AeroAccelerator technology, this gap improves airflow by 32% and reduces temperatures by 20% compared to conventional cooling. You can game for hours on end with impeccable stability and no throttling. ROG Zephyrus offers the highest level of performance in the smallest chassis.

Breathe Deeply
ROG-exclusive Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) includes several enhancements to make the cooler more effective, improving internal airflow and allowing the fan to spin slower and quieter while maintaining low temperatures. The exclusive trapezoid-cut lets air flow freely from the rear exhaust vents, improving thermal efficiency compared to standard laptop lids. We also adjusted the shape of the intake to reduce noise levels further and make the acoustic profile less obtrusive. Zephyrus runs cool enough to avoid throttling and quiet enough to enjoy your game.

Aura Sync for Ultimate Personalization
Aura Sync technology gives you the freedom to customize and synchronize lighting effects with compatible gaming mice, headsets, and other peripherals to give your entire setup a consistent look and feel. With a full spectrum of colors to choose from, as well as six different lighting modes that can be accessed via the Aura control panel, Aura Sync technology lets you express your persona, or the feel of the game you’re currently playing. ROG Zephyrus’ keyboard is positioned at the front of the chassis to allow better cooling for the internal components and offer a more comfortable, familiar position for gamers accustomed to desktop keyboards. Aura RGB lighting lets you customize colors and dynamic effects for the entire keyboard, and you can adjust the QWER and WASD clusters separately to adapt to MOBA, FPS, and other games. Anti-ghosting tech ensures your commands are interpreted instantly and correctly. The ergonomically designed keys have 1.4mm of travel for greater comfort and accuracy when gaming and typing. With an expected lifetime of 20 million presses, the keys offer exceptional durability and reliability for heavy use.

ROG HyperDrive for Blazing-Fast Storage Speeds
ROG Zephyrus features an extraordinary 512 GB HyperDrive SSD based on the latest NVM Express (NVMe) and PCI Express technologies. With ultra-fast access times and blistering transfer rates, the M.2 drive loads games, apps, and other data at warp speed. Its copious capacity has ample storage for everything you need.

Impeccable Gaming Visuals
ROG Zephyrus’ IPS display has a 144Hz refresh rate that lets you enjoy exceptionally smooth gaming at a true 144 frames per second, plus an ultra-fast 3ms response time that reduces blurring with rapid motion. Everything looks and feels fluid, especially fast-paced games. With wide viewing angles and 100% sRGB gamut coverage, the panel also produces outstanding colors regardless of where you’re sitting.

Seamless Gameplay
NVIDIA G-SYNC technology synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the GPU’s frame rate to make gameplay silky smooth. G-SYNC minimizes perceived stuttering, reduces input lag, and eliminates visual tearing all without affecting system performance. You get the smoothest, fastest, and most immersive experience across a broad range of games.

Ultimate Virtual Reality Experiences
Take the plunge into virtual reality. With NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics (Max-Q), ROG Zephyrus delivers smooth, stutter-free VR performance with frame rates exceeding 90FPS. Plug-and-play compatibility with leading VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive lets you easily enjoy fully immersive VR environments. ROG Zephyrus is also certified by Microsoft for Windows Mixed Reality Basic applications, so you can use it with the ASUS Windows Mixed Reality headset. It’s time to explore a whole new world of games and experiences.

Extensive Connectivity
ROG Zephyrus is jam-packed with the latest connectivity to give you blazing-fast transfer rates and maximum compatibility. The USB Type-C port delivers up to 40Gbps to Thunderbolt devices—four times the bandwidth of USB 3.1 Gen 2—while two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports are ready for all your existing gear. You can also run a large ROG gaming monitor with NVIDIA G-SYNC via DisplayPort over Type-C USB or use HDMI 2.0 to connect 4K TVs at 60Hz.

Streaming-Friendly Features
ROG Zephyrus comes with a host of streaming-friendly features, so you can share and broadcast your gaming sessions to friends or a larger audience. Sonic Studio Perfect Voice stabilizes the overall volume of outgoing and incoming voice communication while also reducing background noise. Casting Enhancer improves your voice clarity during streaming and recording, and the laptop’s built-in array microphone filters out ambient noise for even clearer vocal recording. The free version of XSplit Gamecaster allows you to live stream and broadcast directly to internet streaming platforms, or make recordings for easy sharing online. You can even interact with your audience while broadcasting on YouTube and Twitch.

ROG Gaming Center
Access ROG Gaming Center without interrupting your game using the Android or iOS app on your smartphone or tablet. They’re free to download from Google Play and the App Store! ROG Gaming Center gives you access to all the functions you need on a single dashboard—find system information, configure AURA SYNC and RGB lighting, adjust audio settings, or record gameplay. In addition, ROG GameFirst technology optimizes network traffic for faster, lag-free online gaming.

Incredibly Immersive Sound
ROG Zephyrus uses Smart Amp technology to boost audio output by up to 80% over the previous generation. In most cases when pushing the volume to the limit, speakers can break down easily because of excess heat and excursion. The technology protects speakers by setting thermal and excursion thresholds, and monitoring variations due to loading and temperature influence.

Pros: The best of both worlds: thin gaming laptop that doesn't sound like an aircraft engine. +120 Hz, G-sync display is insane; shouldn't go with anything less these days + M.2 drive is crazy fast + Chews through games with ease + Quiet, even under load + Keyboard feel and placement is great (subjective) + Premium build quality
Cons: - One M.2 slot is a real bummer, limits your options as you are unable to expand with an additional M.2 - No standard large storage drive (think Macbook storage here) - Difficult disassembly and upgrade-ability compared to other laptops - No Prnt Scrn button - Track pad placement is fine; track pad fidelity is mediocre (use a mouse) - Brushed metal attracts finger prints - Difficult to travel with (more on that below)
Overall Review: UPDATE: I've owned this laptop for three weeks now and my feelings and understanding of it have developed. I feel like three weeks is more than enough time to get a feel for a product (contrary to what some believe). To start, the baseline specs are wonderful. I decided to opt out of getting the 1080/500GB version due to the inflated cost-to-performance ratio, bang-for-your-buck logic. The 1070 with Max-Q design has more than enough horsepower for my use. To be clear, most of the games I play are MMO's (more specifically, Final Fantasy XIV right now) and MOBA's, so they're not cutting edge in the graphical department for the most part. Browsing the web and carrying out other tasks also feels great, as I expect most laptops these days would. The 120 Hz display is one of the biggest selling points on this, as well as the quiet fans (even under load). If there is one thing I hate in this world, it's fan noise while I'm trying to enjoy a game. While the fan noise is still noticeable to some degree, it does not infringe upon your experience like many other laptops (especially thin ones) do. I am easily capable of hitting the 120 Hz framerate cap on max settings while playing FFXIV, with respectable thermals (no throttling) and reasonably low noise levels. The speakers are more than capable of drowning out any additional fan noise you may be experiencing and, of course, noise-cancelling headphones do just that -- eliminate it entirely. I appreciate the trackpad for what it is. I typically have low expectations for trackpads, so it's easy to meet those expectations. Personally, the swap between trackpad and numpad is magical. It took a while to get used to, but it's still faster than using the number keys at the top of the keyboard for me. Some of the design choices really threw me through a loop at certain times. I feel like I looked at the keyboard twenty or thirty times to find the Prnt Scrn button (this laptop won't fool me! mentality), only to never find it and eventually Googleing it to learn that it really just doesn't have one. Small gripe, I guess, but I use that button a lot and, as a gamer, I feel it pretty necessary. I was really disappointed to find out it only had a single M.2 slot as well. Don't buy the 250GB version thinking you'll just throw an additional 250GB/500GB/1TB in there to expand your storage, because you'll just have to replace the 250GB one altogether and hope you have something else to use it with. I explored some alternative storage options, and I haven't found a solution that checks all the boxes for me yet, so I've settled into 250GB of storage (insane, right?) for the time being. I will eventually upgrade to a 1TB and throw the 250GB drive into my desktop, but even 1TB is on the low-end of storage space these days, and anything more than that gets astronomically expensive. If you do go out of your way to replace the accompanying M.2 drive, be sure to watch a video on how to disassemble the laptop. I got as far as removing the bottom panel (the one that opens up to allow airflow) and then noticed I didn't even have the tool that would allow me to access the inner compartments and hardware, so I didn't even bother. Travelling with this laptop is also not as simple as you might think. The battery life, as you probably already know, is atrocious. That's obviously a compromise I was willing to make for thin and gaming, but when I say atrocious, I mean that you might end up with LESS than an hour off the outlet. So pray there's an open outlet at the airport during your travels. Further, the keyboard placement (although I like it for desk use) is not great for lap use. And the fact that the laptop actually lifts itself to allow airflow also makes it difficult for use during travel, as it feels almost fragile. Although it has great build quality, the bottom panel flexes and makes you want to not use it on anything other than a solid surface. Really, the laptop is great, especially if you're a home-grown laptop gamer. I've always preferred the desktop, but this is a wonderful second system, especially when I'm actually away from home. Also love how sleek it is -- really great design! Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
