AMD FX 8-Core ProcessorsBenefit: Optimized memory controller to feed more cores.
AMD Virtualization™ (AMD-V™) Technology with IOMMUBenefit: Helps virtualization software to run more securely and efficiently enabling a better experience when dealing with virtual systems
AMD PowerNow!™ AMD Technology (Cool'n'Quiet™ Technology)Pros: The ultimate old school FX (not counting the AMD space-heaters).
Cons: Would have been more sporting to upgrade to the new generation.
Overall Review:
I thought I'd give the old MB a final boost, but then it failed a couple of months later, so I had to buy a new MB, at which point I realized it would have been worth the extra dough to by a low to medium Ryzen and an upgradeable motherboard. And some DDR4, and a new case, etc, etc. More money, but way more fun.
Not that I need it for anything, but then, life is short.
Pros: I put liquid cooling on it when I got it and have never had an issue. 3.5 years old and it never has an issue.
Cons: None
Pros:
What can I even say? If you purchased one of these bad boys five years ago you're probably still using it.
I'm not sure what could ever possess me to upgrade, but should that day arrive, I'll go into the BIOS, set the virtual core count to 32, install windows server and have my own little service fabric box.
Cons: This thing will never die or disappoint. No more money for AMD. Hoisted by their own ALU count.
Overall Review: Paired with the 990fx chipset, 24GB of ram, and a Geforce RTX 2070 This chip still provides enough horsepower to maintain 90+ FPS in ARK on max settings on screen 1 while running other applications on screen 2. 90FPS in graphics and physics intensive applications to the Oculus Rift is no problem with a couple of tweaks to the oculus software. I haven't bothered to run a modern benchmark because I haven't had a stutter in any game I've ever tried to play while running this CPU. If you're like me, and you just want enough power to play your games and run multiple CPU intensive apps at the same time at a super low price point, this chip is for you. Except you can't buy it anymore. I feel for you.
Pros: When it was working, it seemed to be good
Cons:
1. Do not use stock fan--I found it very hard to install, and it is as loud as others have said it is.
2. As I said, the CPU died a week after I installed it. I'm (hopefully) getting it replaced, and will try it again--with a third party fan this time. I've gone back to my quad core in the meantime. If I have any comments when I get the second CPU I'll show them here.
Overall Review: Other people have had good results with this product. This may be a one-off.
Pros: fast
Cons: no cons
Overall Review: good upgrade from fx 6100
Pros: Good Performance If You Can Get It Working
Cons: -Can't Find Many Motherboards That Can Fully Support This Cpu Due To The Manufactures Discontinuing Making The Boards And The Ones You Can Get Don't Last Long And Die In 6 Months
Overall Review: If You Can Get A Board To Work With It Well This Is A Decent Buy But Id Recommend Getting A 2nd Gen Ryzen 3 or 5 Instead Of This Due To The Upgradability.
Pros:
I did a build with this CPU in mind, but, the price was high, settled for an 8320.
This CPU blows that out of the water...cooled universe. This upped my FPS in ESO by 40 and runs @ 32c all day long.
Cons: I had to buy some thermal paste...lol

Pros: OC capabilities
Cons: Not 8 cores, per AMD lawsuit.
Excessive Heat
