AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition - Phenom X4 Quad-Core 2.5 GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Processor - HD985ZXAGHBOX

Pros: These B3 releases of the phenoms are amazing compared to the B2, i was able to get this phenom clocked up to 3.2 ghz on stock voltage and on air! They can also easily hit around 3.4-3.5 ghz on water cooling. my 3dmark06 score is around 4600 with this chip, AWESOME for AMD! Great buy if you have an am2+ board.

Pros: Unlocked Multiplier, Quad Core, Easily overclocked, Fixed B3 stepping, No TLB bug. Its AMD. I got this baby running at 2.97GHz on my first shot with just air cooling, Using the Asus Silent Square EVO 92mm.

Cons: Uses alot of Voltage, Maxes out at 1.59V cant overclock past 3.2. (Well I cant get it stable above there)

Overall Review: Be sure to update your Bios FIRST. There are alot of updates out at this time. If you already have a AM2 board then this is the one for you. This thing compares real well with the Q6600 and costs almost the same (except if you went and got that Q6600 youll have to buy a new mobo as well)

Pros: Clocks a lot higher then my 9600 BE. Has 2000mhz HT. Plugged right into My K9A2 Platinum Board.

Cons: Price might need to be a lil lower. But I obviously did no care..... I bought it as soon as it hit NewEgg.

Overall Review: My Phenom 9600 BE was stable at 2.7ghz with 1.27v. I ran Prime 95 x4 for a day and a half. The 9850 has passed one day of prime 95 x4 @ 3.2ghz using air (AC Freezer 64 Pro)

Pros: I knew this would be good but this is INSANELY good so far! It's about 15 hours into the break-in/cycling period so I haven't done any serious tweaks so far. I set my ram back at 1000Mhz, upped the multiplier from dropped the multi to 12x and HT Bus speed to 250. 3Ghz perfectly stable for the past 6 hours on stock 1.30v I'm sure it'll go higher when I get into the tuning more seriously after break-in.

Cons: It didn't come with a $235 rebate? Seriously so far there is absolutely nothing wrong with it that I've found.

Overall Review: ASUS M3A32 WIFI, 2Gigs GEIL Black Dragon/Evoone, 8800GT OC (replaced in the morning with Diamond HD3870. I don't know what the other guy was talking about but this thing runs insanely well with this board. Perhaps your settings need to be tweaked as I haven't even done any real tweaking and I'm at 3Ghz already. 45C under 100% load, 36C idle Xigmatek HDT-S1283 all air cooled.

Pros: I have had this processor for almost a month. I built a new Photoshop Machine running under Windows Vista 64. This processor has handled everything I've thrown at it and not stuttered a bit. I don't know if it's as fast as a Q6600, but for me it's been stable and not crashed once. Files that took 2:24 on my old Opteron 185 now take :54 seconds.

Cons: The overdrive software has been flaky. I'd get a stable overclock at 2.8, and when it restarted the next day I'd need to clear the CMOS and reset everything. I don't blame that on the processor, rather it's an issue with software. I stopped trying to over clock it for now because it's fast enough for everything I've done with it.

Overall Review: Running it on a Gigabyte Board with the 790FX chipset, a Noctua cooler, 8GB of Corsair XMS and a 3870 video card. Thermaltake 650 watt supply, Lian Li case, WD 150GB Raptor, WD 640GB,Seagate 320GB. Everything but the cooler and Motherboard from NewEgg. Great service as usual.

Pros: Processor is a vast improvement voer my old 4200 X2. Running stable at 2.8 without much change in the voltage.

Cons: Definitely runs pretty hot.

Overall Review: Dropped in my M2N32-SLI Deluxe without any trouble using BIOS 1802. Windows and rest fully recognized. Maybe a new BIOS will improve the OC ability.

Pros: This is a great CPU for those that aren't demanding of every single "mark" (PCMark/3DMark) but still want a great CPU. AMD's second highest chip is at a great value price, while offering true quad power. I also really like how the Black Edition products now include a heatsink & fan- first gen X2 BE products didn't have them. (They aren't the absolute best, but what do you really expect? It's a stock product and not everyone needs a Zalman, etc.)

Cons: AM3 is looming, Intel is grooming. *Lifespan of AM2+ is in question (upgrade path is gray area) *Intel's new Core i7's are coming, Q6600 still a threat. Those of you that want to have every frame and have Vista load under 10 sec., etc.- you know that Intel's CPU's are where the action is. AMD provides a good value, and stable performance- but nothing breathtaking. At 125w this is also a very power hungry CPU. AMD does offer a new 65w lower end X4 however.

Overall Review: I am excited about this product. From 99' to 04' I used a Sempron 2500+ (Yes, 1.4Ghz!), now using a 64 4000+ (05' and counting...). To me, this is a great step up and I love the value that Newegg and AMD are offering. If you value good performance from a company that you can trust- the 9850 is sure to fit your needs.

Pros: Much faster than my Phenom Agena 9600 2.3 Ghz(with TLB Fix thru BIOS). All comparisons are with the above mentioned processor. Went from 50 fps to 120 fps on Half Life 2: Lost Coast. Improved AMD Overdrive benchmark score went from 6721 to 7354. A program I made for parallel gaussian matrix inversion ran at 30% faster on average than the old processor. It is incredibly easy and fun to overclock this processor using AMD Overdrive, without a thought, I overclocked to 2.7 no prob, and though I'm not much of an overclocker, just these 200 Mhz more brought in significant gains on parallel applications, I brought it back down to standard specs though after running a few intensive apps though, 2.5 ghz is more than enough for me.

Cons: It runs hotter than the Agena, but not by much, stays at around 53 deg. celsius on idle and about 60 higher under load, it has a good fan... Works very well. The increased heat is expected as it uses more power than the Agena.
