Pros: Great, worked as soon as it was installed and seems to be a rather solid PSU.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Not Modular, but you get what you pay for.
Pros: I bought this from someone other than Newegg, still posting a review because I come here to read even if I don't buy from here. This backup has functioned through several tripped breakers (at least 10 occasions), and on one occasion it powered a 750 watt i7 machine and two 24" monitors for upwards of 10 minutes before we flipped the breaker back on. I reconfigured it to make sure it would keep my server up, and it now powers one ~600 watt Core 2 duo, my 750 watt i7, and an ethernet switch on backup. I've had outages on both configurations and it's worked well (although I never suffered an outage longer than 5 minutes with the two PCs, and on one occasion it definitely came close to dying with both PCs on backup). Overall, it has served it purpose--and well. I'm sure it's not the best UPS, but for the money it's close and it will power what most people will want it for. Even if the battery doesn't last that long it will give you plenty of time to save your work and shut down saf
Cons: None so far. It doesn't count as a con to simply want more, but I wouldn't mind having ~30 minutes backup time. Trying to think of a con. Beeping is annoying? No, it's supposed to be. Hmm... I got nothing. It's been a good device to me.
Overall Review: Keep the documentation that comes with it. I just set the UPS on top of it--it's very handy to have. It will tell you what the beeping means if and when it starts, and it will clarify any confusion as to which plug does what (I've never owned one before, so it acted as my introduction to UPS units). If you lose it, here's the link: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE750G&tab=documentation
Pros: It's APC, it's powerful, etc.
Cons: none
Overall Review: Watch out if you order this baby with other items. It came in a large box with a bit of bubble wrap on the bottom of the shipping carton and floating about with this 18 lb gorilla were my MB, CPU and memory. Nothing anchored. CPU box was crumpled on corner. SHIPPING really dropped the ball on packaging this order !!!
Pros: This UPS carried me through many blackouts since April 2009. The battery just now died. It was rated for 3-5 years and I got five on the button. When you don't notice a product until the battery dies after five years of continuous heavy use is just about all you could ask of any product.
Cons: None. Really none at all.
Overall Review: I can't remember if I reviewed this UPS when I got it in '09, but since I just bought my first replacement battery (APC RBC17, feel free to read that review) after five+ years, I felt compelled to advise anyone looking for a reliable, quality UPS at a great value to consider my case as typical, from all indications. Five years before you need to replace the battery! You can count on APC for trouble-free performance. Your computer will thank you for having all the uninterruptible clean power it will ever need. You will realize the first time your power goes out, yet your computer will stay on, giving you ample time to save your work and properly shut it down, that its saving your hide. It more than pays for itself. Best purchase I ever made to regulate my power supply and protect my PC from power loss. Buy it!
Pros: It works -- powered a new Intel Core I5 workstation and 2 23" monitors for close to 15 minutes. Easily recognized by Windows 7 as a battery device without additional drivers, supporting basic options for shutting down or hibernating when the battery runs low.
Cons: The "Controlled By Master" ports are a nice idea, but it would have been nice to have some of them on the battery back-up side of the UPS. I thought that I could, for example, have it turn off the displays when the workstation has shut down, but here that means the workstation is unusable during a power failure. The low battery alarm is also short lived, coming only about 5 seconds before the battery ran out.
Overall Review: Thought it odd that the data port for connecting it to your computer is USB to RJ45 style connector instead of just a standard USB cable.
Pros: This is a very nice unit. I have a 52" LCD TV, a quad core PC, and numerous small devices (routers, HDHomerun, cable modem) hooked to it and it will perform a gracefull shutdown when the power fails. The software that comes with the BE750G is quite nice as it can examine the load based on what you have plugged into it and tell you if it is ok or not. This beats adding up maximum wattages. It's got a pretty cool feature where it will turn off several plugs based upon the current-load for a master. When the master's load goes low (as when you turn off the computer), it will turn off the other plugs automatically. It's programmable feature so you can dissable it. It's larger than it looks as it packs a good bit of battery, but it's design keeps it low to the ground. The sockets face up so you don't have to pick or tilt the unit towards its face in order to get to sockets on the back.
Cons: I bought two of these units. The first one hooked up without issue, but the second one failed after I'd hooked up all my equipment and turned it on. I've purchased many UPS units from APC, OPTI, etc. and never had one fail. I suspect this was a rare event. The failure mode was pretty spectacular (it smoked) and I called APC to discuss it with them, before calling (webbing) NewEgg for an RMA. I was shocked (pun intended) that APC offered to overnight a new replacement unit, which they did. This saved me quite a bit of time over a NewEgg RMA (NewEgg is always excellent about returns).
Overall Review: I want to give a HUGE recommendation for APC's products, and especially for their warranty. It turns out that when my BE750G failed it damaged a very expensive graphics card in my PC. APC requested the failed unit be returned for examination, and based upon my list of equipment that was attached to the BE750G (fill out your warranty information carefully!) I was able to submit a claim under their protection guarantee. Though it took a few weeks APC concluded that the unit had failed, and also failed to protect my registered equipment during the event. They sent me a check for the current market value of my (still expensive) graphics card. I couldn't be more happy with APC, and will buy additional UPS units from them. Again - read and follow the instructions for registering your APS and what's connected to it.
Pros: Bought this to replace an older APC unit that the battery finally died on - it lasted almost 7 years. This one is on my 63" HDTV and it has always worked; we've had 4 power outages in the last 8 months. Glad I stuck with APC.
Cons: None
Pros: I got one of these for Christmas 1½ years ago and have it setup with tower and 2 monitors as well as a floor lamp shows 12 minutes of run time available in power outage. in the time I have had it we have been fortunate and only had 3 short power outages so never had to shut it down it has kept me up and running now I have gotten one that setup with the Modem Router and Phone to keep them up and running after power outage have not tested to see true runtime I figure will do that later. If you install the software then it limits how long you can stay up and running because it doesn't want to fully drain the battery if connect without USB cable and no software then it will continue till battery dies and you can get full 12 minutes instead of just 5-7 minutes. 5 ports for battery powered items and 5 ports that just surge protector ports, be sure to plug into a grounded outlet or surge protector is worthless and you will get a red warning light that problem. this unit can be mounted on a wall or left laying on floor it has the keyholes for wall screws battery is easy to replace should it go bad and Newegg carries the batteries Item#: N82E16842101185 good USB cable included for connect to computer for software to control unit cable for modem included so can run it through surge protector and phone line cord
Cons: it is heavy not something you want to be having to move around all the time it does not have RJ45 ports for LAN cable to be run through surge protector only standard phone lines in and out would like to see the price a little lower but it one of the best ones available for home use
Overall Review: if you look at pictures of this unit it shows 3 phone style plugs but it no longer that way the one port is now a USB port for connect to computer. Shipped fast UPS had in just 2 days after ordered now if I could just get the rest of the order that comes from marketplace store front
