What is the run time on this unit?

Runtime is based on the load you attach to the device. 6 minutes at full load, roughly 20 minutes at 50% load. APC provides a runtime chart for this device, but I cannot include the link here. Check out their site.

Can this be used as a backup system for a pellet stove during a electrical outage?

John, I don't know anything about pellet stoves... I would image that it would provide electricity to the stove for a short while depending on the amperage being pulled. The closer that is to the 1000 in the unit name, the shorter the time it will last. I definitely would not expect it to run more than 1 to 1.5 hours.
