It honestly boils down to preference. You will find arguments on both sides with pros and cons for each of them. The real question is how much work would one be versus the other. Are you willing to redo all your settings and software installs to have a fresh OS install? Or would you rather keep what you have and trim the fat once it's moved over? Personally I always go with a fresh OS install because setting everything up all over again reminds me of setting up my first PC all those years ago and I feel like a kid again.
