Pros: We have had the 3 camera kit plus 1 add on camera for over 1 year now.Have no issues with it after NETGEAR up dated their app.Has worked great in temps in the low 20 at night.Unlike all the issues I read about with the pro not doing well in the cold.Verses the SMART HOME SYSTEM Arlo first wireless camera system.Glad we stuck with the original. And with up to 5 cameras you get FREE CLOUD STORAGE for up to 7 days.So delete what you don't want to save. And always have free storage.
Cons: The only bad thing is the batteries.Depending on what you have your time set per camera and how much activity in motion takes place will decide how long they last per camera. They just came out with rechargeable 4 battery system for the smart home system. But like anything that is exposed to cold temps as far as battery's go drains them quicker. And it will pick up shadows from trees when wind creates movement. So try putting away from a branch with no leaves to save your batteries.
Overall Review: As stated got as a back up on sale at new egg.Or still can install the camera making it a 5 camera system and still have Free Cloud Storage for up to 7 days before it is deleted.Must have a high speed internet to use and a smart phone to see recordings on your mobile phone.Just make sure you keep their their app up dated.
Pros: Magnetic Base makes it convenient to setup.
Cons: Magnetic base makes easy to steal if place outside. Motion detection is so slow as to be useless.
Overall Review: I would not recommend this system. Unfortunately due to time constraints I was not able to install this until the 30 day return had passed. Otherwise I would have returned this unit. Really dissapointed.
Pros: The deciding factor for me was the fact that the system had 7 day cloud storage that is free. The camera takes very good pictures in normal lighting conditions and also low light conditions. I also was impressed by the IOS app finding it to be very user friendly. The camera is smaller than I expected it to be making it easy to overlook when it is mounted in plain sight.
Cons:
The batteries are expensive and do not last very long at all if you keep the camera functioning where it has to make numerous recordings. The battery meter dropped one bar the first week.
When you attempt to open the battery compartment door you slide the door as far as it will go and then you have to grasp the lip of the door and pull it up. It seems to be stuck to the weatherstripping the first time you open it. You almost feel like you might break the door, but you won't. Both of my cameras were difficult to open the very first time. After initially opening the door then it works just fine on subsequent openings.
The Android app is not very user friendly. I could not find any way to shut off the cell phone notification like there was on the IOS app.
Although sound is not absolutely necessary, it could be useful if some intruder happened to mention a name or say something useful. Unfortunately, this camera does not record sound like the new camera that Netgear has just released.
I feel like the price of the units could be priced more reasonably. Especially the price of the additional cameras. It is almost as cheap to buy a complete second single camera system as it is to just buy the extra camera.
Overall Review:
What I found out with this system is that you leave the system off most of the time. When you leave your home or retire for the night you turn on the system. To get the maximum battery life you need to limit the number of recording to less than 4 minutes a day. Essentially, if you treat the system like a burglar alarm then the battery life is tolerable. I have found that the batteries are somewhat difficult to find and when you do they are somewhat expensive. I found that you can get name brand batteries for about $2.00 online where-as they are in excess of $10.00 a piece in some stores.
I am pretty impressed with the ease of installation and the overall quality of the system. I have one camera mounted about 25 feet from the base unit and another about 40 feet away on the outside of my home. Both camera's seem to work reasonably well on my internet service which is DSL with 10 Mbps down and 512 Kbps upload speed. All of the information says that you need 1 Mbps upload speed, but I haven't had too many issues with a two camera system. I do see some slight buffering when both cameras are recording but that would depend on how you have the cameras placed.
Eventually I will probably consider rechargeable batteries since you supposedly get 500 recharge cycles on them. Rechargeable batteries are a subject all their own because the battery size appears to be a moving target and some batteries will simply not fit. I have read good reports about Nitecore and GTL batteries, but I have not personally tried them yet.
Like I previously stated this is a fairly decent system with what appears to be well constructed components. I am by no means an expert, but the system was very easy to set up as far as I was concerned. I do not think that you would be disappointed by the unit should you choose to purchase it.
Pros: None.
Cons: Clunky, difficult to set up, long delay; if any to notify you of movement; doesn't record sound, low pixels.
Overall Review: The set up is very time consuming, there's the base to set up, plugging everything in, syncing, etc., then placement of the camera, it's difficult to make peoples faces out or license plates of cars. Just a bad camera over all - the only plus is that it's wireless. That's it. I'm sending it back, and adding another Nest Cam.
Pros: This product is perfect! I needed a 100% wireless security camera so I didn't have to have an electrician come out which would have cost a fortune. The camera is small & compact. I mounted it in upper corner of my front porch so it is protected from the elements, including wind. I am wondering how much the wind would set off the motion detector? I love the LED light on it that lets you know it's recording when you are near it. The software all up appears to be working. Easy set up. I have not had any battery issue that others have discussed in their reviews. Hopefully, Netgear will have that sorted out by next winter, as they are saying that issue is cold weather related. Being from Chicago, I certainly HOPE it is resolved! I am 100% satisfied & plan on buying another one soon for the back of my house
Cons: The only con I have so far is that the ceiling mount bracket is not available for purchase yet.

Pros: Initially easy to install, disconnect often
Cons: I own other Arlo cameras that work fine. These all started having problems a year after I purchased them. They are all useless now, but the other Arlo cameras I purchased elsewhere prior are still working. Due to this bad experience, I have added another brand to my home security that has worked great.
