Pros: Easy to connect to ISP, faster then the one I replaced. The GUI interface (accessed via 92.168.100.1) has lots if information, logs, reset to defaults and a restart modem.
Cons: Lights are so bright, they are annoying. I covered them up. Does not have a reset button.
Overall Review: Good quality, too short of a network cable, try to buy it on sale.
Pros: Very easy setup and go, good status LED to show the connection status as they are being brought up, takes the guess work out. Call up my internet provider and updated the MAC ID on my account, I was up and going with the new modem in minutes.
Cons: Power brick blocks the next power socket on a conventional surge protector, by now one would expect the device maker should be smart enough to design the power brick in a shape that does not block the use of the next power socket on a power strip. This is NOT the case with this unit. But it's only a minor gripe in the world of owning electronics. My old SURFboard 5101 unit had a big power brick but it had a cable connecting the brick to a standard power plug so it does not block the next socket. Also the 5105 had much longer power cables for more flexible placement options. It's disappointing that the new product from Motorola is paying less attention to these design details. But performance wide, none of the above really affect the ultimate function of the unit, so no egg lost.
Overall Review: Due to the nondescript nature of the LED lights, I had to use the manual to understand what each LED meant. But once learned, it's straight forward to understand the connection status of the unit. Make sure to reset the network router after the modem connected to the cable system to eliminate any potential lingering connectivity issues. Blue LED for high speed uplink connection some people find it annoying, I like them!!
Pros: Easy set-up with Cox - plugged it in & called to furnish MAC Address & S/N. Substantial speed increase.
Cons: Had to leave the 'egg for this purchase.
Pros: Cable modems are one of those items you don't upgrade often. When you do, you need something rock solid and reliable. For the price it is worth every penny. 8 Channels for download should keep anyone going for at least 10 years or whenever 343Mbps isn't enough. The device doesn't get that warm for a networking component. My old little Docsis 2.0 Linksys ran warmer.
Cons: No cons. Not sure why they decided on white when most network equipment is black, but what evs.
Overall Review: My recommendation is not to cheap out on a cable modem. You will have this for a pretty extensive amount of time. My old modem had 8 years of use until the max speed was reached, it still works like a charm. You don't want your modem to fail, ever!
Pros: Increased bandwidth; quicker browsing with more open connections. Ping is 50% lower...see comments.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: If you bought a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, well, you probably already know a thing or two about networking. All I can really add, here is that it has reduced my ping rates by 50%. However, my router is not Gigabit Ethernet. Once I implement my new router, I can expect another 25% off my ping rate.
Pros: -Simple to connect -No disconnects -Saves money from rental charges
Cons: -white color
Overall Review: I am able to achieve my service of 100Mbps download and 20Mbps upload through ethernet and wifi.
Pros: Future proof for another 10 years
Cons: Not cheap
Overall Review: Getting this modem to work correctly with my ISP (Time Warner Cable, a.k.a. TWC) was a hassle, all because of TWC. Bought the modem to avoid the TWC modem lease fee. I was leasing a DOCSIS 2.0 modem; this SB6141 is DOCSIS 3.0. At first, I nearly returned it because the speeds I was getting were half of what I got with the DOCSIS 2.0 modem I was leasing. But once I figured out what the deal was, I kept it and decided to return the leased modem to TWC. Basically TWC uses a marketing gimmick/trick called PowerBoost to artificially boost the speed of DOCSIS 2.0 modems. This feature is not enabled with DOCSIS 3.0 modems. PowerBoost gives a 10- to 15- second surge in bandwidth at the start of a download. Then the download speed reverts to whatever you're paying for. So if you're paying TWC for 15 Mbps, when you do a speed test on a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, you get artificially high numbers, maybe 20-25 Mbps. Speed tests typically involved the download and upload of a relatively small file, so customers see numbers much higher than they are paying for, and it's a win-win: happy customer, and TWC looks good. PowerBoost doesn't artificially inflate the speed of a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, so when you upgrade to this modem, it may seem to you that your speeds are worse. But what you're seeing is what you are usually getting, apart from PowerBoost. Don't expect the people at TWC to go out of their way to clarify all of this for you. This modem is what you need for any plan that provides >15 Mbps down. As the speed on the network rises, as it inevitably does, this modem positions you to get the full benefit of your broadband cable connection. We use our modem for Internet, phone, and TV, so we make good use of it. It's stable and solid, and all the reviews you can find online that are written by knowledgeable folks are positive. We used a Motorola SB4200 for a decade. I wouldn't be surprised if we're still using this one a decade from now.

Pros: Secondary review after a little over a week of use. Rock solid with my ASUS RT-N56U. Initially I saw a speed increase between 8-10 Mbps over my Comcast rental; which I was extremely happy with. I just did a factory reset on my ASUS RT-N56U router and unlocked another 8-10 Mbps down! Along with another 4 Mbps upload; a near 50% increase in upload speed! Not only did it boost my download speed up to a robust 57.7 Mbps, but there is absolutely 0 fluctuation or decline in the speed test results. Typically the test would jump up to 50, then come back down, and work its way back up to within spec for my paid speed(38-52). Now it goes straight to 57 and stays there, with a variance of 0.5 Mbps or less.
Cons: Absolutely not
Overall Review: Buy One! Try a reset on your router as well, see if it helps you out.
