Pros: I like the fact that it has 4 ports and supports DOCSIS 3 and the higher throughputs. It's really fast when its working Stays fairly cool Decent wifi signal strength on 2.4Ghz No silly antennas Nice indicater lights Firmware is up to date as of today 8/26/2013
Cons: Has troubles staying on and realizing when the connection has been loss and there is no connection, let me elaborate. Extremely poor 5Ghz wifi strength. Signal degrades sharply after 10 feet of open air. Through the second story floor it's not worth even trying. First off the device will essential lose internet connection but the indication lights remain solid as if the connection is stable and active. There is no way for the modem to reset itself it appears. Technician commands are hidden and able to be accessed accept by your ISP. Basically your ISP can modify your hardware without your knowledge or consent it would appear. DNS's are not changeable so you are stuck with your ISP, Trying to use Google's DNS (8.8.8.8) will cause issues with the firewall if turned on. SYN FLOOD or DOS Attack will be flagged in the logs if you attempt to change the DSN on an external router or NAT property in your computer's settings. I use Ooma voip on a single port by it's self and when this happens the voip service is gone. The only way to recover is to pull the power plug and reset the modem. This is getting annoying and will only damage the connection over time. Wifi signal had now lost itself twice as well while the LAN was apparently fine. Again the only way to recover the wifi was to pull the plug and restart the modem. Startup time is a bit slow.
Overall Review: Power levels are in the "sweet" spots after my ISP came and dropped a hard line from the main hub to my house with a direct line into the router for safe measure. We tried everything to get this modem to perform well and it's still being a bugger. I'll update this post if I can get anywhere substantial.
Pros: To those of you with the wireless dropouts, log in to the modem settings page and go to the Firewall tab. UNCHECK "IP Flood Detection" and reboot modem AND your system. I just spent too many hours setting this modem up for a friend, and once this setting was changed I have had three days straight with zero dropped connections.
Cons: .......
Pros: Just left review with 3 egg rating. After leaving the review I started to read other reviews and saw this GLORIOUS gem of information "To those of you with the wireless dropouts, log in to the modem settings page and go to the Firewall tab. UNCHECK "IP Flood Detection" and reboot modem AND your system." I followed this advice and instantly my packet loss went from about 58% to 0%. You can physically feel the difference while surfing online, and can really feel it on my xbox playing via xbox Live. No more frustrating Lag. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Unkown reviewer!
Cons: *Still have occasional Wifi issues, but simple powercycle fixes the issue and only happens about once a week for me.
Overall Review: Been depressed about this Modem for a year only to find out a simple checkbox in the firewall settings has been the cause of my woe's! I am exhilirated by the change in quality i have experienced.
Pros: - DOCSIS3 - modem+router+wifi+switch in one device helps to simplify home networking and reduce clutter - 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz WiFi
Cons: - DOCSIS2 backward-compatibility may not work unless your ISP applies a firmware update - All-in-one device doesn't have the features and flexibility of separate devices (user can't update firmware or upgrade wireless) - 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz cannot be enabled simulatenously. It's "dual-band," but not "dual-band simultaneous."
Overall Review: I work for a local cable ISP and we have been using these modems for about 1 year now. Many times, the modem doesn't work at all until we push a firmware update for it. This happens when the modem is using a DOCSIS2 package. Basically, this modem is backward-compatible with DOCSIS2, but only if it has the correct firmware installed. As with all cable modems, updating the firmware is not straightforward. Only the ISP can update it. In this regard, you have more flexibility with a regular modem like the Motorola SB6121, paired with a wireless router. This also frees you to replace / upgrade to a new wireless router when the next wireless standard (802.11ac) becomes affordable / practical.
Pros: Works great, I get good signal and tuned the power to 50%. Internet is fast and the router works as it should
Cons: YOU HAVE TO SET IT UP PROPERLY! for those with the problem of the router not loading more than one page at a time you have to go into the settings and turn off IP flood detection. This setting is on by default but it should not be.
Pros: -Great Range! (reaches to my yard and garage) -All in 1 box! no more having 2-3 devices for home network -Very Stable & Reliable
Cons: -Needs space due to high heat/temperatures it seems to radiate heat from all sides.
Overall Review: Ive owned this since it first hit the market over two years ago(maybe 3?) its been amazing! Ive had no issues or concerns and the reason im writing this is due to the fact that all the reviews on here bashing it do not corelate with the experience ive had with it. The range is amazing! I have it setup in my master bedroom and I recieve perfect wireless signal across the entire house rather its upstairs, bathroom and even in my garage. I can even stand in my driveway and I can stay connected the range is perfectly fine and amazing. The only compatability issue ive seen was a new droid/HTC phone did not want to connect but that was the phones fault and a update to the phone fixed it. It also does not strain or have issues running a huge network my current home network has 3 desktops, 2 laptops, 2 xboxs, 2 smart TVs, a home theater, multiple phones, 2 printers and more. Typical useage is any combination of the above.
Pros: GUI is absolutely easy to use and set-up. It had no issues with Win 7 out of the box. The range on this modem/router combo is impressive for being an all-in-one device. Speeds on all of my connected devices are noticeably faster. Great buy for $130.
Cons: IP Flood Protection is not designed very well. I ran it for a few days without disabling it and quickly realized why everyone who had issues were complaining and why the ones who weren't, stressed to turn this feature off. It was mentioned in another post that IP Flood Protection was overly aggressive and I completely agree. The firewall protection feature is also overly aggressive and noticeable improvements in stability were noticed after disabling that feature.
Overall Review: Out of the box this is a good modem/router, but not great. With a few minor (and I mean MINOR) adjustments on the easy-to-navigate GUI, it opened it up quite a bit. Take your time setting this unit up and it will be the greatest $130 you'll spend. Despite the overly aggressive algorithms used in the IP Flood Protection and Firewall Protection features, I give this unit a 5 out of 5 for it's speed, ease of use, and GUI. JUST BUY IT!!!

Pros: Supports DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless N Capability (When Enabled) Support for Guest Network All Features are Accessible Automatic ISP Configuration/Sync
Cons: Settings must be adjusted prior to use Wireless Protection Fails when WPA/WPA2 are Used in Conjunction. Modem Functions Properly when Settings Required are Disabled (Firewall, WEP/WPA, Port Forwarding, ...etc)
Overall Review: Modem Heats Up Very Easily. Keep it in a very well-ventilated area. I modified mine and installed an intake fan to suppress the heat. I'm subscribed to Charter's 18Mbit/2Mbit (Down/Up) and get speeds in excess of 30Mbit Down.
