Will this modem router work on comcast?

Comcast as my ISP. This modem/wireless/router works just fine with a wired desktop and wireless for 2 iPhones, an iPad, and a laptop. The wireless portion is set to private networks (with password) and operates at both 4g and 5g.

After installing on your main computer call the dummies at Comcast to register the MACID, etc.

Make sure you read the manual, then setup the modem/wireless via the Arris (Motorola) GUI at: http://192.168.100.1/home.asp

Once running, access your online Comcast account and turn off wireless sharing. Comcast has implemented wireless sharing by default.

Wireless modem? There is no such thing as a wireless modem. All cable modems must be "hard-wired" to your cable just as is your TV.

1. This unit is a combination modem and router all in one unit.

2. The router is BOTH wireless and can also be connected directly to your computer through an Ethernet cable just like before.

3. This is a DOCSIS-3.0 modem that it is capable of operating at a much higher bandwith. I was using a DOCSIS-2.0 modem previously running 15mbs/sec. Any higher bandwith requires a DOCSIS-3.0 modem.

I have upgraded my band-with speed to 30mbs/sec using this new Surfboard unit.

4. The biggest advantage is that the modem, router, and power supply are all contained in one unit. This reduces the Ethernet cable between the modem and  router.  Everything, modem, router, power-supply are contained in one box.

5. I've run speed tests on a number of sites and this unit meets and sometimes exceeds my 30mbs/sec. server allotment. My highest download speed to date is 3.678 mbs/sec.

My older Surfboard (modem only) kept dropping the signal. I never could find out what the problem was nor could my server "tech-geeks" explain why.

I could visibly see the increase in speed between the old unit and this one before I upgraded my bandwith to 30mbs/sec.

Setup is a bit different from previous modems wherein you needed to enter a user id. AND a password. You now enter a user id but the modem comes with a preassigned password. The modem somehow electronically rotates the password by a means which is newly developed technology by Motorola. I can't explain it further as I have not researched this.

Although I've owned this unit for only about one month, it has performed flawlessly.

I've probably provided far more information than you were asking for. The bottom line is:

This is Motorola's top of the line, first combo unit. For me, it was money well spent.

Question 3

This modem/router defiantly does not work with Charter.  I have had two techs come to the house and none of them could get it to work.  They could get the modem to activate but it would not communicate back to Charter.  Is their something they are not doing or is the modem/router defective?

Shane check with Charter to determine if your SBG6782-AC is on their supported list of cable modems.  I have Suddenlink cable and they do not support cable modems with MOCA built in.  So had to get an Arris/Motorola SB8141 modem that is supported by Suddenlink It is on their approved list.  SBG6782-AC was used for about 12 months but then Suddenlink boosted internet speed SBG6782-AC wouldn't get the higher speed.  Suddenlink said buy an approve modem or rent theirs.  Generally all ISPs control firmware upgrades on supported modems whether bought or rented for quality of service reasons. SBG6782-AC setup wizard was pretty easy to do.  I had no problems with SBG6782-AC setup. If SBG6782-AC is supported you may have a dud.

Is the MoCa networking active out of the box or does it need to be activated through the web GUI?

Will this work with Windows 10?

While I haven't tried it with Windows 10, I don't see why it would not work.  The control interface is accessed through a Web browser.  I didn't  have much luck with my surfboard modem.  After 2 TWC follow up appointments, the best signal we could get was about +5db.  This modem had problems staying connected for me.  I sent it back 2 times and received good support from the manufactory but we still couldn't stay connected for anything over 5 minutes at a time.  I switched to another brand and haven't had any trouble since.  If it works for you, it could be a great set and forget modem.  I just never had that kinda luck.  But it should work with all operating systems as it is accessed through the Web portal.

Is the Motorola Surfboard Extreme SBG6782-AC DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem a replacement for an AT&T U-verse modem?

This modem is more expensive so I do not know if you want to call it a replacement but it is a great modem. It supports most ISP providers and there are not a lot of modems that compare to it.  This modem in short gets the job done. Check with with you Internet Service Provider to make sure this is compatible with there system.

will this work with cox cable internet? if so, how. must I connect it to the closet wiring cox has for a modem, or can i merely connect it to an ethernet wall outlet?

Contact your cable provider to determine if this modem/router is on their list of compatible devices. Typically, this information is available on their web site.  As far as the connection goes, you would connect it directly to your Ethernet wall outlet by cable, and will not need the modem supplied by your cable provider as the modem is built in.

Is this Brighthouse comparable?

After searching what Bright house is, I'm guessing you are wondering if it's compatible?  Not comparable?  My internet provider is Comcast/Xfinity and I was able to go to their website and see a list for compatible cable modems.  If it's not there, you should be able to contact them and ask.  For mine, I didn't see it on the list however I did see that a more generic Motorola Surfboard modem was compatible so I took a chance.  And it works great, much better than the modem I was leasing/renting from them.  Hopefully this helps.

is this a telephony modem where my landline will work from?

No this is not a telephone modem, it is a CABLE TV MODEM. You connect your coax cable from your local cable company like Brighthouse to this box. Then you can connect your network cables from you PC to it or wireless connect to it to surf online.

does this modem router support phone jacks?

Yes I use this router with my VOIP.  I had to assign the mac address of the phone router to a dedicated IP address and I also dmz the phone router it works fine.
