Pros: This is the NON-OEM version. Works great and plays/burns DVD/Blue Ray formats

Cons: It said that it came with some software but the software was only for burning blue ray disks. It does not do any playback. So if you want to watch a blue ray movie you either have to download VLC and do some modifications to it so you can play some (not all) blue ray movies OR you need to buy another third party program.

Pros: Blu-ray drive that always works when I need it to work.

Cons: It hasn't yet become autonomous, although that may be a pro depending on it's intentions.

Overall Review: Does exactly what I expect. Blu-ray burner at a decent price.

Pros: I have had many Blu-Ray drives and I must say this one is my favorite. This drive is a solid build and works great each time. The drive has never burned a faulty disc.

Overall Review: - I have has a few issues with dual layer DVDs burned with NERO 11 Burning ROM. However, the same movies burned with ImgBurn pay just fine. Which leads me to believe it is not a hardware issue but rather software issue. - I have not tried to do anything extreme with this drive. I burn single layer BD disks and single and double layer DVDs. For such tasks this drive is excellent -

Overall Review: To the reviewers who complain about missing software: it's not missing anything. This is an OEM drive. It's what manufacturers use to put in branded machines. It's not supposed to come with anything but the drive itself. You can't deduct eggs for something you *think* it should have. If you want a bloatware bundle buy the retail version of the drive. How can you possibly have the highest level of technical knowledge and not know what an OEM drive is? I find it strange that every single newegg user is five out of five technical knowledge.

Pros: I got mine back in April of 2011.. it performs exactly as described in the details hardly noticeable during spin up/spin down... burner is kind of quiet burns very quick on BD-R no coasters yet

Cons: I pay $129.00 for mine, should have waited a few months for the price drop :-( other cons are all these reviewer's that are not "VERIFIED OWNERS" , which are probably people who don't even own this product and are fanboi's of other brand manufactuer's

Overall Review: Yes, my tech knowledge is HIGH.. been building and programming PC's since the 8088's & IBM 286 days ( mid/late 1980's ) some have complained that this ASUS Blu-Ray burner is slow..... it is not slow... but a person using this Burner must have a computer with decent cpu/memory ( pc components ) that can push this burner to it's max abilities people saying this ASUS Burner is slow probably have it installed in a mediocre PC or have a bloated OS and bloated hard drive and under powered PSU..... there is absolutely nothing wrong with the performance of this ASUS Blu Ray Burner... it is blazing fast and comes with 8 MB Cache

Pros: Well it burned a whole 25 pack of verbatim BD 25gig disks with no coasters or bad data. Really like this drive overall. More solid burns than my other cheap ASUS DVD-RW. No problems with DVDR DL discs either. Burned 4 of those with no problem. Included software is well, less than comparable to nero 11. Which I normally use for burning software. I kind of like it though for it's simplicity.

Cons: Really, and I mean REALLY sensitive to scratches, scuffs, or even finger prints. Anything old you wish to use in this drive, like a rented DVD or Blu-Ray should be cleaned properly with a lint free cloth and some alcohol or other type of cleaner. DON'T EVER USE GLASS CLEANER. I caught my wife doing that once and she'll never hear the end of it from me. :)

Overall Review: Overall a solid performer in my book. Quality product as most ASUS products are. Kind of on the expensive side, but if you want quality, you have to fork over the dough. To all the other reviewers on here that say it doesn't come with driver software, get a clue people. Everyone should know by now that when you purchase a product that reads and writes things in a format that windows 7 doesn't include, you are going to need to purchase or "aquire" a program that can decode or encode the certain codecs. Nero 11 comes with a media player for Blu-Ray playback, for those of you wondering what to get. There are several freeware programs that do the same thing. Windows does however automatically recognize and install the appropriate drivers for this drive enough for you to use it like any other optical device. One word of advise for people that are new to building their own PCs. I have been doing this for over 15 years now, DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST! The internet was made for more than facebook!
