Pros:
- 1080p, backlit keys, decently fast
- battery life seems good, probably get close to or over 8hrs if not 9, watching videos and browsing
- other than the arrow keys, I really like the keyboard and layout. I don't miss the caps lock key one bit.
- runs linux under crouton very well. Apparently dual boot doesn't work with sound yet, but crouton works for me. I actually don't mind the chrome os, coming from almost a decade of linux.
Cons:
PORTS! there are only 2 usb-c. It is so thin I understand I suppose. This is honestly the only thing I can say I don't like about it.
oh, the small arrow keys.
Overall Review:
nicest piece of technology I've ever owned. I doubt you will regret buying it, unless you want to dual boot linux. Then I would check out online but as of a couple weeks ago sound will not work. Crouton only.
EDIT: I had power issues last year, I sent it in for rma and received another unit with a cracked frame and i tiny fracture under the screen glass. Whataver, it worked fine, up until a couple weeks ago when I noticed the screen becoming blotchy. I am now out of warranty on a defective replacement. My guess is a couple hundred for a new screen which almost doesn't seem worth it.
Pros: I use the little guy as mostly an easy carry around when I don't need the extra power, peripherals or screen for some programs better used on Windows OS like CAD. The screen is bright and clear, it is fast and responsive, and has excellent clarity at a surprisingly higher than really needed volume limit.
Cons: I never tried turning on the back-lit keyboard until day 32 after purchase. That's the day I learned that Newegg's warranty period is 30 days so I had to go thru Asus. I sent my machine off to Ontario somewhere and got it back within a week or two all fixed up.
Overall Review: I would suggest grabbing a usb-c hub that has any extra peripherals you like using. Being at a place without wifi but having cabled internet will make the purchase price worth it for even just the one time.
Pros:
- Great performances
- Amazing materials
- Beautiful screen
Cons: none
Overall Review: I use it everywhere. Still like new after more than a year. My favorite piece of equipment!
Pros: light, backlit keyboard, good battery life
Cons:
some coil whine.
October 27, 2018:
right mic went out. Only had the Asus c302 for 2-3 months.
As of the latest chromebook update around late october 2018, both mics are operating once again.
Pros:
-Incredibly thin, light, quiet (fanless)
-Nice small size, so much nicer than using my old 15" laptop on the couch
-Great build quality - much nicer than by previous PC
Cons:
-Lack of storage for photos - currently use a micro SD and back up on both Google Drive and a portable hard drive, which is a bit of a pain - would be nice to have more internal storage (a Google Pixelbook would be awesome but way too pricey)
-Don't love the file management system - prefer a Windows PC for this
-my husband struggles with Google Docs
-having issues with my playing my home videos on it, although have not spent the time to try to resolve this
Overall Review: As our two Windows laptops were dying, I debated for months as too what to replace them with. Wanted something thin, light, quiet (preferably fanless), and fast (preferably SSD). I also liked the idea of a 2-in-1. To get a Windows PC with all those features, would have cost more than I really wanted to spend, and still would not have been fanless. Was hesitant about a Chromebook, mostly because I have photos that I do not want to lose and do not quite trust Google Drive, but otherwise this Chromebook had everything I wanted for a much more reasonable price than a comparable Windows PC, so took the risk. Overall, very glad I did, although may eventually buy a cheap Windows PC for occasional use, as my husband struggles with Google Docs and would be nicer to manage photos on a Windows PC. If I do though, I know it won't get near as much use as our Asus Chromebook flip!
Pros:
Almost everything:
Build quality, Screen, Keyboard (backlight is so nice + good typing experience), Android apps support (PlayStore), Transforms into a tablet, Very fast, 64Gb SSD, good battery life, fast charging (1 hr to 100%), reasonably light
Cons:
Haven't found any serious ones.
Personally I'm missing USB-A and full size SD card reader but not too much to say it's a con.
Camera is quite bad - just 720p resolution and photos look even worse than that. Yet good enough for Viber video call
Overall Review: I bought it just a week ago hence some surprises may still be waiting for me and also I cannot comment on reliability of this chromebook. I thought "Play Store in beta" will require a beta version (beta channel) of Chrome OS or some other tricks. No tricks at all! Just when you activate Play Store it shows that it's beta. Chrome OS remains on Stable channel! Android apps work surprisingly well and add a HUGE value IMHO. Sometimes you have the same app in both Chrome app store and Play Store. You may need to try both to decide which one you like more. MX Player Pro that I use on my tablet seems not to support hardware acceleration on this chipset. Installed VLC instead and it works great. Core M3 processor is about 2 times faster that Celerons used in cheaper chromebooks. So it's very pleasantly fast. Gaming: Played Dead Effect 2 on highest settings (console-quality graphics) - excellent smooth gameplay!
Pros:
* inexpensive
* easy to learn
* easy to use
* can't "screw it up"
* doesn't get viruses
* automatic backups of data
* can recover files you accidentally deleted
* your files are available anywhere, on any computer/tablet/SmartPhone
* works with standard formats of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, photos, videos, music
* quick to turn on (11 seconds) & off (1 second)
* runs all day on built-in battery (around 10 hours)
* compact & light weight
* fast access of operating system, programs & data files (has a Solid State Drive {SSD} )
* HDMI output for connection to a large external display or your large-screen TV
* microSD memory card slot to expand internal memory
* 2 USB-C ports for connection of mice, flash drives, & external hard drives
* built-in webcam, microphone, & speakers, & output for headphones or external speakers
* 4 GB of RAM (working memory)
Cons:
* doesn't run Windows or Apple programs, but lots of programs are available (most are free) in the Chrome Web Store (Chrome Operating System) & the Google Play Store (Android, under Chrome OS)
* not appropriate for creating/maintaining websites.
Overall Review:
An excellent computer for beginners, seniors, or children – next-to-impossible to "screw it up".
Good support for printers with Google Cloud Printing; automatic data backups with Google Drive Cloud Storage; good compatibility with files from Word + Excel + PowerPoint + PDF's + JPEG pictures + MP3 audio + MP4 video.
As with any laptop, it helps to get an external 23" LED-backlit display to connect to HDMI port, for a much larger & useful display when at home. Can configure it to duplicate what is on Chromebook display, or to be a separate additional work space. (USB-C adapter is available to connect external HDMI device.)
You get 15 GB cloud storage with Google account, plus additional 100 GB cloud storage free for 2 years with Chromebook. After that, if want extra 100 GB, costs $2.79 per month (or 1000 GB for $13.99 per month). Also get local storage for when not connected to Internet. For even more, add up to 1 TB on SD card, or multiple TB on external Hard Drive or Solid State Drive.
If you are thinking of getting this as a gift for someone who will ask your assistance in using it, you will spend a lot less time helping them because it is so much simpler than Windows or Apple O.S.!
All in all, a Chromebook is an excellent "first computer", or a good choice for an additional computer.

Pros: Much easier to use once you learn how to use it and set it up. A phone number is included for you to call for any problems setting it up or for finding out how to do something. it has many other features that other computers don't have that are great. There is a built in malware and virus removal and this saves you money in the long run.
Cons: No instruction booklet or manual is included and nothing to tell you what buttons and slots are used for or what type of head phones to use for it. You are unable to get inside the computer to see anything, maybe if you know how you can.
Overall Review: I would definitely recommend this computer laptop and highly recommend it. A friend recommend that I get it and very glad I did.
I would like to see a booklet or instruction manual included.
