Question 1

is this a great card to use with a asus sabartooth 990fx motherboard and amd 8350 i want to buy this card but i do not know if it is good or not?

this asus r9-270x is a superb video card,  it will need an immediate bios and driver update due to a slight occaisonal flicker when first installed but its easy to do with the excellent software included,  there is documentation on the asus website about the issue,  after the update i am so pleased with this card ,  it out performs the nvidea 760 chipset according to the techie websites and is about 40 dollars cheaper,  it now works flawlessly in a asus rampage IV black edition motherboard socket 2011,  4820k i7 processor,  and team extreem  pc21300 memory,  oh and yes  it is big, make sure you have at least 11 1/2 inches of space between you slot blank and the back end of the card and it also uses dual pci-e power connectors which i have both pluged in but the manual says that only one needs to be used,  not sure if it makes any difference.  bought mine from newegg in the beginning of november for $209,  looks the price has gone up since then,  good luck.

Is this better than the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 ? Can it run BF4 Ultra no problem ?

Honestly I haven't used the Radeon HD 7950 this is actually my first build in probably 7 years.  I am very happy with the card but I am having some issues with OC but at this point I am attributing it more to me making a mistake somewhere that I haven't figured out yet than the card.  I have played Crysis 3 on Ultra with a little lag using the manufacture "gaming setting" so I have no doubt that when I figure out what I have set up wrong it will run BF4 no problem because there is still a lot of room for clocking higher.  I will say it is very quiet even if the fan in maxed out and runs pretty cool.  And like I said most the problems I am having I am pretty sure is a user error I made in something.

Question 3

Can I overclock this card with the stock cooling system?

Yes. I haven't OCed yet, but just the normal running temps are very low- about 28C in a normal environment, never hitting 55C when playing Tomb Raider or heavily modded Skyrim at ultimate settings.

You could significantly overclock this card and not have an issue. The GPU tweak application is great and easy to use as well.

Question 4

I am currently running on crossfire ati radeon hd 4850 video card with amd phenom ii x6 1050T processor, 8GB of ram, and a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard,nzxt phantom case, and 3 Acer monitors. Would upgrading to this card run all games (like COD Ghost, BF4) on ultra high with good frame rates on all three monitors?

well, i think you need to upgrade your cpu and gpu. but this graphics card is very capable of running 3 monitors on high settings (not on ultra), if you are playing in only one monitor you can max-out the settings and in some games you will be able to play on ultra but for example in crysis 3 you only will be able to play in high settings. this is a dissent graphics card but it won't be able to play in 3 monitors at maxed settings. it will handle 3 monitors at high settings well.

Question 5

What port would you recomend, the HDMI the DVI-I or the DVI-D, And is there any difference in the speed of each?

if you have discreet/external sound card i would recommend DVI since there is no audio signal being sent.

**Rule of thumb is always try to AVOID using adapters DVI -to- HDMI, etc

There is little to no difference in speed although you may notice weird things like when using 2 monitors of not the same size there will sometimes be a overlap if you full screen a game or video on the larger of the two monitors it will overlap slightly onto the smaller monitor.

Question 6

How well will this card run the following games?
Battlefield 4, Just Cause 2, Crysis 3, Far cry 3, planetside 2, Farming Simulator 2013.

I have played both Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 with max settings on this card.  While I have not done a benchmark test in game, I can say that the frame rate is smooth no matter what is going on.  Even on BF4 multiplayer games of 64 people, I have noticed no graphical slowdown at all.  In addition, I play Rome II and it also runs flawlessly, again with max settings.  I know this is not the most technical answer, but I hope it helps.

i have a Crosshair V Formula motherboard is it compatible on it?

I have one, and love it.  I have the Crosshair V formula Z.  I am wanting to go Crossfire eventually, and from the looks of it, I think it will fit quite well.  My friend has the Crosshair V, and says there isn't much difference from the 2 boards.  Just remember, check the x16 is where you put it.  Runs so nice on all games itself, I'm not sure if I need to crossfire until I upgrade again.

Question 8

The title says it's a "support" card, does that mean its a secondary card? First time builder, I don't wanna mess this up. Will it work alone as the primary card?

Yeah, your all good. They just mean its crossfire compatible which involves two video cards. Just remember after installing your video card; go to Asus website and download/install the driver and vbios update and restart.

Question 9

I know the rewards page on the AMD site says that this card comes with BF4, but I'm not sure if the cards from Newegg specifically come with it. Can anybody who purchased the card within the last couple months confirm or deny?

when i bought this it didn't say that so sorry no help there but when i bought my processor it said it came with far cry 3 blood dragon and i received no such thing so i was wondering how they do the "free" game things. sorry i was no help.

when says chip set amd does that mean I have to use a amd processor?

No it does not.  It means the chipset on the video card is AMD.  I have run these cards with AMD and Intel Processors just fine.
