Overall Review: I was in dire need for a new laptop in general. I use my computer to do day-to-day things (browsing, YouTube, Word, bla bla bla), as well as play games (WoW, looking into a FPS). This animal can handle it all. When it comes to WoW, this computer destroys Dalaran and 25 man raids on Max settings (shadows turned down). It can also handle FPS with ease. Overall, very impressed, and very happy. I did extensive (read: weeks and weeks) of research before purchasing. Great deal, cannot be topped.

Pros: Recertified new unit. Handles BFBC2 very well on medium settings, Eve-online is maxed-and looks sweet, looks new-not a mark on it, nice keyboard, speakers are good and loud, and it was cheap. For a low cache hard drive, it's not slow at all opening applications. I'm a power user, so I'll be installing a SSD later. Several useful performance settings, one touch track pad disable/enable. If I kept going, I would sound like I'm bragging. Recovery discs included.

Cons: Gets very hot. I thought others would be joking, they do not, get a cooler. Speaker volume. This thing ships with the volume at default settings, which means the sound level initially is very quiet, and I thought that I too, had a defective unit. So I Googled "G60vx sound", low and behold-a how to on raising the speaker sound levels, on this exact model. It was fairly easy too. Reboot, when the Asus ROG screen pops up and it goes boom, hit the F2 key. That takes you into the bios. There is a speaker setting from 1-8, mine was default at 4. You can also go into control panel> sound> under playback tab, click on speakers then properties> go to enhancements tab, then click loudness equalization. I noticed more of a change with the bios setting, to be honest. I personally do not like the audio jacks where they are. I wish all USB ports, and audio jacks got put in the back. The removal of bloatware. I keep thinking I got this NEW.

Overall Review: This could have been great. But, it has turned out to be a %^&*ing awesome deal. This is a recertified unit, so I expected some sort of bug with it. All I found was the speakers volume was set too low in the bios. This thing ships to you new, with a new battery, charging brick(and it is a brick-paint it yellow if your from Kansas). No owners manual, or start-up guide. Oddly, mine came with someone's Autobit cd-rom in my drive. It has their name on it. Not sure if someone from Asus left it there or not. I come from a custom Intel c2q 9550, Gigabyte p45, 4gb, GTX260 machine, with JBOD 32MB cache drives(no raid). This is not as fast, but it's still plenty fast enough. Slip an SSD in with a fresh Win7 install, and drop it on a cooler, and for under $1000 you got a decent gaming rig, and a monster multi tasking machine.

Cons: * Malfunction Risk since its a Refurb and 90 Day Warranty. * Horrible Speakers, get Radius Atomic Bass headphones. * Horrible touchpad buttons. They're really stiff. * GPU not upgradeable, ASUS uses custom MXM form factor (smaller than normal MXM). * Pretty big for a 15" laptop, compared to my 2008 Macbook Pro. * Very low battery life. No more than an hour gaming. I'm always near a plug at home or at school though, so no biggie. * Some bloatware, but not much. * Can't figure out how to boot into BIOS to install Raid 0. * Exhausts a lot of hot air. Overall Review: Although the graphics card in this laptop is amazing compared to other laptops in the same price range, do not confuse the GTX 260M with the regular desktop GTX 260. The chip in this graphics card is the same one in an 8800GT, a G92 GPU. Don't feel like you're being outdone by the GTX 280M, GTX 285M, 9800M GT, 8800M GTX, or the 9800M GTX, they all have the same chip except for a few stream processors enabled or disabled along with a few clock speed differences. The only card that can beat the snot out of this laptop's GTX 260M is the Radeon HD Mobility 5870. Again, do not confuse laptop GPUs for their desktop counterparts. The laptop 5870 is just a desktop 5770 in disguise. If you're planning on doing a lot of graphics design you're probably not even considering a laptop in this price range and instead are looking into a Macbook Pro 17 or a Dell Precision 6500. For an amazing laptop LED panel get an Alienware M17x with RGB LED upgrade for $200 + the $1799 starting price.

Pros: - Solid gaming laptop, runs everything great - Although a refurb looks brand new, not a mark on this one, I got really lucky - Not as large as I expected, though definitely large for a laptop. - Great price point for a gaming laptop. Asus seemed (judging from the reviews here) of refurbing these really well and making them well worth the money right now.

Cons: - It does have the audio issue that others have stated, where the speakers don't work but headphone do. If that's the only problem I won't be returning it for that alone. - Lots of bloatware, moreso than I expected. I have yet to do a reinstall, but likely will

Overall Review: Now, for those having the Wireless issue where your connection gets disabled/turned off. I had the same thing happen where my hardware switch got moved to off when I was packing it up and when I turned it back on, I wouldn't re-enable. There is also a software button to toggle it ON/OFF by holding FNCT+2 (? it's the one with the wifi logo on it - might be 3 - don't have the comp in front of me atm). Try that before going to any extremes. Looks like the hardware button might be disabling it in the software also so you have to toggle both.

Pros: - Looks brand new, only a single small scratch on the outer case - Runs WoW on Ultra perfectly fine in almost every raid and everywhere outside of raids - Still adjusting to having a key pad, but it's often handy to have - Love the USB ports on different sides, left, right and back - Light-up keyboard makes playing at night so much easier

Cons: - I can still see fingerprints on the shiny surface around the keyboard and the more mac surface where your palms rest - Occasionally, the network drops every 5-7 minutes, a restart usually clears this - One time, the network adaptor was saying it was off, when it wasn't. Nothing I tried fixed this, but starting the system in lightning mode then switching to OS fixed it somehow.

Overall Review: Overall, I love this system so much that I gave it 4 eggs. I had to take off one egg for the network adaptor card as that's a very annoying and critical impact negative to the system. If it never happened or was fixed when I tried to repair it, then I would've given 5 eggs.

Pros: For the money you reallycan't beat this laptop. Although it is recertified, it come just like new and you really can't tell the difference. It has a great GPU: GEFORCE GTX 260 which will take on most anything you throw at it. It has a backlit keyboard and it's really quiet. Oh and also, the feeling of the laptop around the touch pad is really smoth and unline anything I've felt before on a PC. This laptop also feels very solid. It doesn't creek when you open the lid like some other laptops. And it doesn't feel like a toy.

Cons: Chicklet style keyboard. (but the keyboard is smooth so not really a problem) Battery life. (you can't really complain for a gaming laptop. It's kinda "to be expected" on these machines)

Overall Review: Ok so when I first sent in for the order on this laptop I was a bit scared. I had my old hp stolen when I was hosting a party at my house and I only had so much money to spend for a new one. I had $630 exactly so it was a one shot and cross fingers. I've red some other reviews on here and there were quite a few people saying that theirs came with a problem. That being... I wouldn't have $20 to send it back for a return. Well when I opened it it was PERFECT! Everything is working so far. I feel really bad for those of us who prchased one and didn't get it in good condition but this one came without a scratch. So right now everything is working and fine but I've only had this for a day. If anything happens I'll be sure to write a followup on the review.

Pros: Price, Performance, GTX 260M!, 4GB RAM, 7200RPM HD, DVD Burner, a laptop designed for Gaming...

Cons: Battery life isn't great, but I always plug it in...

Overall Review: Plays all of my games well. Left 4 Dead 1/2, CS:S, NBA 2K11, Assassins Creed 1/2, Dead Space, Mass Effect 2, BF:BC2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and many others I've forgotten at the moment. Graphics on most can be knocked up to High, the newer games Med-High. Processor speed is a little slow, but you can upgrade that (not easily, but it's possible). There is software included to allow you to overclock up to 2.3GHz. Possibly upgrading the HD to an SSD may improve battery life, but ultimately I am very happy with this purchase and love this Laptop.

Pros: From a general user standpoint, this machine has everything you need to get the task done and more to boot. LCD Color scheme options (kind of annoying when you're a graphic designer being picky when the color shows up different on this screen than someone else's.), a quickboot option (5-20 second boot time, I can't remember), pre installed overclocking utility, backlit keyboard is awesome in the dark, the material used where you rest your palms is some of the finest material I've seen. Can run a plethora of programs at once without worry of a slowdown. I had Photoshop CS5, Chrome, Apache, Windows Media Player, VMWare and a few others running at once LIKE BUTTER. From a gaming standpoint: Excellent for the price; you won't find a better deal than this. Period. The Nvidia GTX 260m is a beast. This laptop eats my 3 year old $2000+ gaming desktop leaving room for seconds. Will run just about any game maxed out (give or take anti aliasing options).

Cons: I read this is more of a Microsoft Windows 7 goof than a hardware error. The situation: I had the laptop plugged into a wall with the battery disconnected, friend tripped over the wire and accidentally powered off my system. For a few weeks every time I powered on, the hard drive would run the disk check on my HDD, freezing up about %30 through the process before the OS loaded. Random turn ons would complete to %100. The included battery life leaves more to be desired. If I have optimized system performance over battery life, the battery runs out in about an hour, usually less. But this is meant to be a gaming laptop / desktop replacement. Less of a con, and more of a footnote.

Overall Review: This is the first system I've had that runs any flavor of linux straight out of the box, without tweaking .conf files or hacking workarounds. Well actually, there is ONE problem with linux. On Ubuntu it loads the wrong keyboard layout, and my '\' is replaced with '}', leaving it pretty hard to do any coding. Easily fixed with a shell script (had to google it). But compared to past problems I've had with unsupported drivers, this is cake.
