Pros: - Loaded with features - Worked/works great - Good looking board
Cons: - Some of the software doesn't work properly, but I don't plan on using much of the software so now concern for me
Overall Review: Some people are complaining about no M.2 support or some other thing rand frankly I don't know why. It's a mITX motherboard. Sacrifices have to be made somewhere. Prior to purchasing this motherboard read the specs and find out if the motherboard has what you need! Some people complain about no M.2 support and about the U.2 connector. I specifically bought this motherboard because it has the U.2 connector that connects to the PCI-E lane so I can use the new Intel 750 series hard drive and a video card without any adapters. I also read some people say that it's hard to find an aftermarket heatsink that will fit. Again that is not true. There are plenty of aftermarket low-profile heat-sinks and fans that will fit, sure it might be snug, but again its a mITX. I used the NOCTUA NH-L12 LOW PROFILE heat sink and fan setup and it works great.
Pros: Got a U.2 Intel 750 SSD, so this was very useful having a connector on the board without needing an adapter. No problems whatsoever with anything so far.
Cons: None yet
Pros: Simply the best Mini-ITX board out there. Everything about this board is quality. Everything booted up and worked like a charm first time for me. The UEFI bios are freakin awesome. Overclocking is a dream. The fan extension card is nice. ASUS's software is awesome. Amazing WiFi, I never had the driver issue some people have talked about. Excellent sound card. LED Code display is nice. I can't say enough good about this board. If you're looking to make a small Mini-ITX build without compromising really ANY features or power, this is your mobo. Simply rocks!
Cons: No USB 2.0 header. Not really a big deal, and excusable with the limited space of a Mini-ITX board.
Pros: no issues from day one
Cons: a little bit of extra bulk. just need to make sure you give yourself some extra room.
Overall Review: I would absolutely recommend this mobo
Pros: Board works amazing off the bat. Sound card is amazing and the extra fan connector was such a nice added for mini itx. Want to take advantage of the u.2 connector later down the road.
Cons: Nothing to me
Overall Review: Hopefully early down the road I don't run into problems. I'll report back
Pros: The primary selling point here is the U.2 connector on the top side of the board. Every other mITX board currently on market has a M.2 socket on the bottom of the board, which will not allow you to use the M.2 > U.2 adapter (unless you do some serious case modding). It was not confirmed on Noctua's website at the time of my build, but this motherboard IS compatible with the NH-D15. In fact, I swear ASUS designed this board just for that heatsink - it's a perfect fit. This was another huge selling point for me, since I did not want to bother with liquid cooling. Unfortunately, due to space limitations in my case, I can only run a single fan on the DH15. Still worth it. The fan extension card is great and compatible with the ASUS fan monitoring program; having 5 individually PWM-controlled fans makes for a silent build. The I/O port layout is pleasant and the included shield is well-constructed with thick sound-proofed padding. The built-in sound card is great and the holes glow!
Cons: There is a complete and utter lack of documentation surrounding the fan extension card. As far as the manual is concerned, it doesn't even exist. The box includes a couple mounting brackets that do not fit any hole spacing in a computer case that I'm aware of, so if you use it, you will likely be mounting it by a single screw. The screws used are the same type used to mount a hard drive, so I bolted mine to the side of an unused hard drive cage. Good luck!
Overall Review: You'll need to manually enable XMP in the BIOS and potentially tweak your memory speeds in order for the system to recognize anything over 2133Mhz. I think many motherboards are like this, though.
Pros: - Eventually worked - EZ flash utility worked - U.2 port (maybe) little product support available at this time
Cons: - Poor and frustrating build experience, DEBUG LEDs unhelpful for POST failures - On board HDMI worked a couple of times and then not at all - Motherboard would only work with a dedicated video card - U.2 port (maybe) if product support doesn’t materialize
Overall Review: Spent several frustrating hours diagnosing inability to POST. DEBUG LEDs provided no helpful information for POST failures. No information on ASUS support forums or FAQs pertaining to POST failures. Almost gave up and returned this mobo until I tried a dedicated GPU and everything started working and POST succeeded. My initial plan was to use Intel’s integrated GPU until 1070s were more available. I’m fairly certain other poor reviews resulted from similar experiences. I’ve spent a week using the PC since overcoming the POST failures and am glad I didn’t write this review immediately. PC has been stable since. Unsure if any combination of the components I chose contributed to the problems, sharing in case this helps anyone else: - CPU: 6700K - PSU: EVGA 550 Gold - CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12 (sans top fan) barely fits - RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB at 3200 - SSD: Samsung 850 P - CASE: Cooler Master Elite 130 - GPU: Radeon R9 270 ASUS get your act together! Posting comments on negative reviews for how to contact support is unsatisfactory. If you can’t produce a stable product, then document work-arounds and resolution steps on your support FAQ pages. Until then I can’t recommend this product—Buyer Beware!
Pros: Bought this motherboard for a Mini-Itx build and I love it. It looks awesome and everything I needed fit into it including a decently sized CPU Cooler. The BIOS is also really easy to use and some programs that are included really help make overclocking easier.
Cons: It is a bit pricey.
Overall Review: Used this motherboard with a Silverstone RVZ02 Case, Silverstone AR06 CPU Cooler, DDR4 16GB RipJaws (2133Mhz) (8x2), 2 256 GB Samsung Pro SSDs, and an i-7 6700k Processor. Everything fits snug despite it looking a little bulky. Personally do not like M.2 slots as I notice it heats up quite a bit (Not in favor of that as Mini-ITX cases don't have epic cooling to begin with).
