Pros: This board is one of the few to support 128GB of RAM, and definitely a screaming unit with so many features that it would take someone who is even more technical than me to appreciate. So many different items in the box, I haven't even began to utilize all of them. The unit is definitely eye candy with the lighting, and seems to perform with no problems. I have not had any boot failure issues so far as I've had with the last ROG Rampage V board. Contains more SATA slots than I'll use, and that new m.2 NVMe slot is a totally fast interface. When it gets to booting windows it is very speedy. The new processor installation bracket is very nice and installs fast and easy.
Cons: Boot time of BIOS is a bit slow, as it probably takes close to 20 seconds for the screen to power on from a cold power off boot. Having to remove the graphics card to access the m.2 NVMe drive is a bit of a pain. Perhaps that slot should be parallel to the cards instead of perpendicular. However, I understand it is a pretty loaded board. The processor install bracket instructions are are a bit limited though, as I didn't realize at first there were 2 for series 5 & 6 processors, and looking at them, I do not see what the difference is. A great idea that needs fine tuning.
Overall Review: I have not benchmarked this system, but it definitely feels like a high end and custom system. By the time you build it completely from the ground up, you'll be around $3k. Although I'm an enthusiast, I probably do not utilize this board for even 1/2 of what its capable of on a daily basis. The last Rampage V board I had for over 2 years, and has been relegated to a backup system. The first unit of this model did come to me with 4 bad memory slots and only recognized memory in the 4 right slots. NewEgg was a champ, and took care of the RMA immediately with a replacement which functions like a charm!
Pros: Update-Dropped to 1, zero would be better Customer Service, still waiting on new MB.
Cons: Sold as new, arrived as an open box, no antistatic bag etc. DOA. Perhaps there was a reason it was a reason it was returned in the first place. Had to pay for return shipping for a defective item.
Overall Review: Selling defective products and not standing behind their sales, this is what we have today! Dropped to 1 star and that is giving it credit. Only reason for 2 stars was for their customer service (otherwise a 0 would be appropriate). I am waiting for the new MB, and I hope it is actually NIB, for $500, it better be! I have waisted time and $ and nothing to show for it at this point in time. Once this is solved, I will come back an update this review one direction or another.
Pros: Very good looking, but who cares about that
Cons: Dead on Arrival
Overall Review: Bought it 2 and a half months ago, installed it around 6 or 7 weeks ago, it was DOA, so after speaking to ASUS they asked me to send it back. They admited it was DOA, but for some weird up reason they haven't sent me a new one back. Enough is enough, I'm filling claim today to get my money back and will never buy ASUS again
Pros: ~ Has about every accessory and feature a motherboard could truly have and then some. ~ RGB Aura lighting is beautiful ~ High quality capacitors ~ Tons of sata ports 10 to be exact ~ Supports thunderbolt and usb 3.1 ~ Up to 40 lane cpu ~ Solid Bios
Cons: ~ Didnt come with hug ~ Price but gotta be honest you get what you pay for!
Overall Review: ~ I would totally recommend this to anyone who is serious about building a new pc or just has an itch for it. The foundation of a solid computer starts here and Im glad I didnt build on a sand or in the mud but up on the rocks overlooking the kingdom!
Pros: Just about everything. Great layout. Love the RGB lighting. M.2 support and the list goes on. This motherboard has everything. I always run a SLI setup so my two 1070 FTW's fit right in.
Cons: There really are none.
Overall Review: The audio deck that came with the motherboard is useless to me. I have no purpose for it. Unfortunately, I use USB headphones.
Pros: -Worked first time -LED lighting isn't too "loud" and can be turned off in BIOS or software -Plenty of "goodies" included. Fan Extension Card (PWM and DC Fan), 3 Temp sensors, Wi-Fi Antenna and lot more. -Comes with SupremeFX headphone DAC which actually upgradable.
Cons: -The Price is just too darn high -Manual could have been more detailed. I am an experienced builder so knew where to fill in the gaps, but not a board for a first time builder - Not enough onboard USB headers (A lot of motherboards have this issue and they should either include an add-in USB expansion card or put more on the board. I needed at least 3 2.0 USB headers (the DAC takes one) but the board only has 2 headers. -There is a plastic tab sandwiched between the rear IO ports which looks as if it should peel off (There is a lot of protective plastic sheeting all over board to protect shiny areas and LED areas that easily peels off). The plastic even has a tab sticking out of it that makes it look as if it should be pulled out. However, there is nothing in the manual about it, nothing online (except other people wondering too) and I even called ASUS Tech Support. It took me about 10 minutes just to get the guy to understand what I was talking about (I think he understood) but even they didn't know if it was meant to stay or be pulled away. After he promised that it would not melt or cause any issues and that ASUS would replace the board if it did, I left it in, but ASUS does need to look into this and find out why the plastic tab is there, if it should be removed, and make a way to remove it (I couldn't manually remove with just hand power, someone online suggested sliding a business card or something underneath it but I didn't want to remove it in case it was a needed item the tech support was unaware of. Please ASUS, train your tech support people about it's products. I should not have to explain a major feature in detail for 10 minutes to a tech agent before he understands what part I'm talking about.
Overall Review: If money is not a huge issue, this board is probably one of the best you can get for the x99 chipset. I did months of research on each part of my build and the motherboard is one of the most important decisions you can make (after deciding which chipset to go with). Be prepared to look-up a lot of issues and learn more than you can imagine about each faucet of PC building before tackling a high-end board like this.
Pros: I absolutely love this board. From the black matte finish to the multiple led lights on various parts, it looks and feels like a beast. I am running it with the 6950x, CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 64GB DDR4 2800, Samsung 950Pro M.2, and GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition. Running it OC at 4.4GHz with no trouble. Samsung Magician measures the Sequential Read speed at 2600MB, and Write at 1562MB. Everything was relatively easy to get to and made for a very clean build using a Phanteks Luxe case. I have to give a special mention to the BIOS of this board. There seems to be every kind of customization that you could ask for. Certainly past my knowledge level. I loved the ability to automatically see which core was the best one to overclock if you chose to take advantage of the ability to OC different cores at different levels. Also the included suite of programs were very beneficial.
Cons: I only had 2 minor complaints. I am not sure I am crazy about the processor retention tool. It took some time to figure out exactly how the processor should fit into it with the correct orientation. but, hey, maybe it was just me. The other was that the led light strip for the Luxe case did not fit into the RGB connector for the mobo. Neither of these were a big deal.
Pros: Best RGB of any boards including the Godlike Asus AI suit will find the max overclock for your chip if you are a novice and don't want to oc yourself , it works well and its stable Connections are great for everything from everything to m.2 , intel 750 and thunderbolt The dac and amp that come with it is pretty good.
Cons: Boot up times. They are bad and this is across all of the updated newer asus x99 boartds. The deluxe 2 has the same problems and no matter what you change in bios its still slow. The dac and amp , you need a drive bay and it runs hot. Tho it sounds great and can power all my headphones sonic studio for gaming just sounds bad. Its not what i would use for gaming and prefer Dh or creatives sound processing. Old pci-e wiring. 8x16x8? But i know why they did this. For the m.2 and u2 ports. Game first causes blue screens thus not usable at least for my system
Overall Review: Is it worth 600 bucks? Myself i do not think so the problem is some features witrh software do not work correctly. The boot up times are to slow for a 600 motherboard and the Dac and Amp tho crazy good the software is not and i feel the sound is what drives up the board to this price much like the godlike. Still The board is an engineering marvel much like all asus motherboards.
