Pros: This is a premium board and it includes all the accessories you could want. Features are highly impressive and the build quality is unquestionable. Even comes with a multi bit screwdriver that is perfect for installing M.2 drives. Manual tells me that temperature probes are sold separately but the box includes several of them anyway.
Cons: RGB Price?
Overall Review: Not sure if this is worth the extra cost over some of the comparable boards but I also can't find anything wrong with it.
Overall Review: Finally got my hands on this board and immediately ran into some problems. I tried three different cases and 3 different AIO CLC's. 1. Because of the power delivery cooling height this board did not allow the use of any 140mm fans at the top of the case. Case of choice Fractal Define R6. Obviously wouldn't be a problem if someone were to make a water block for that area. At any rate, none of the cases I tried would fit even a single 140mm fan at the top of the case. The top of the heatsink was always in the way. 120mm fans fit ok. 2. The memory slots seems much closer to the CPU then usual. None of my AIO's would fit if I used all 8 slots of memory. Forced to use only 4. It's not a height issue, the pump will simply not fit between the memory slots as is. Again, shouldn't be an issue for people using a water block or any pump with the hoses coming out the top of the pump as hoses coming out the side of the pump was the issue. Pump of choice, ASUS ROG Ryujin 360. 3. The lack of internal USB 2.0 headers was disappointing. There's only one header that has two ports (used for my case) and a second header that only supports ONE port (used for my pump). Now I have nothing for my PSU. Wouldn't have been a problem had the second supported two, I could have at least then split it up. 4. ASUS ignorantly made the EZ PLUG an angled plug. I'm so sick of board manufactures doing this and dumb end users demanding it. That plug is right up against the PSU shroud. It's impossible to plug anything into it as was the case in all 3 cases I test fitted. More times than not those angled plugs make it a huge headache! I'm running two 2080 Supers, hopefully utilizing all the other power plugs will be enough. The instruction manual doesn't exactly explain the EZ PLUG very well. Besides what's "easy" about forcing people to use an outdated 12V plug style when nothing else in my systems for the past 10 years (at least) haven't used that plug anymore? Isn't this supposed to be an enthusiast model? What's enthusiast about using 12V molex?
Pros: -Build quality is insane. All the components on this board are pretty high end. The backplate on this thing adds a ton of weight which makes it feel even sturdier. -Performance and expand-ability is high. -The dimm.2 slot is actually pretty neat and very handy. -Chipset fans aren't nearly as loud as I had expected, good job Asus. -Plenty of I/O which is amazing -BIOS can be flashed easily. make sure to read the manual though as the process is a little different than I am used to.
Cons: -This board costs more than my first computer build. -The lights that don't turn off when the computer is shut down until you enable "stealth mode". Corny and annoying. -I bought this board and then the updated "Alpha" version was revealed a week or so later. not really a big deal as this does more than enough but still.
Overall Review: -This is an excellent motherboard with tons of features both on the software and hardware side. -There are a lot of enthusiast level features on this thing so make sure you really do your homework on it prior to purchasing. I can't stress enough how premium this board is - having had it and used daily for the last ~6 months. -Would recommend to anyone who needs a board for their threadripper. -The lights on the board can be controlled via corsairs icue software which is nice as it syncs up with a ton of other stuff in my system. - I never thought I would pay this much for a motherboard but I get it now.
Pros: All!!!!!!, Very Very nice quality!!!
Cons: Price, You get ALOT but you pay ALOT for it so yeah...
Overall Review: Recommend this to anyone that wants the feature set this offers. Ive had good luck building with ASUS for 15+ years.
Overall Review: Perfect Product!
Pros: Asus has some of the best BIOS around. They give overclockers and workstation users a ton of options to configure the system to their liking. The coolest (in terms of temps) VRMs around but that might be an issue in itself. 10G Ethernet!
Cons: After running 44.50 at 1.38v on CB15, I started smelling burned electronic. I know that is a very safe voltage and I know my 3960X can do 45. I shut down my rig (its on an open air bench) and started to investigate. The burned smell is strongest near the VRMs. Now the CPU frequency is very erratic even at a set 38x base clock.
Overall Review: I'm chalking this up as a defective board, apart of the first batch. I normally buy only Asus (you only have to check out my HWBOT username - Rageset to see how loyal I really am) but I think I may start looking at others. The quality of their boards are not the same. Hopefully Newegg comes through with the replacement. I'll update this review when I get my new replacement.
