Could you tell me this model have parental control? I want a router has schedule time to turn off wifi at night time, make sure the kids get sleep enough ;).

Yes it does. It will allow blocking a device based on a schedule. Rather than turning off WIFi on schedule. It seems straightforward and easy to use.

Question 2

Has anyone setup the VPN server option on this product yet?  If so, how is the performance/reliability?

I setup the VPN in minutes. Very straightforward. The connection between my remote computer and the one behind the VPN has been connected for about 5 days. And I've transferred over 700gb with no problems at all.

Question 3

I'm assuming this is much better than the RT-N66U? A second question, I haven't seen much information posted about its range, can anyone give me some kind of idea of the range?  (I need a very strong signal 50 to 60 feet from the router) I'm currently using a D-Link N600 but with all the wireless devices in the house often one or more run slow or are completely dropped. ( typically 6 to 8 devices running )

I've had this for 2 weeks now and it works perfectly. It's situated at the bottom of the stairs in my house and I get a perfect signal all over the house; upstairs, downstairs and in the garage. I've tested the signal about 75 feet away from the router and I still get a perfect signal.

Question 4

What is the difference between this router (RT-AC66R) and the Asus RT-AC66U?

They are physically identical.  The proper name is RT-A66U, the marketing name in some cases is RT-AC66R.  I have flashed 3rd party RT-AC66U firmware on my RT-AC66R and the firmware can't tell a difference between the hardware.  It is very fast and stable (about 1 month no wifi drops, no reboots, 24 / 7 usage).  The firmware I used is called asuswrt.

specifications indicate 3USB (2x2.0 & 1x3.0).  Pictures and box indicate 2x2.0 USB.  Which is correct?
