Does this unit have dual channel memory?

Yes, but its parts and software are incompatible and it crashes frequently. I actually just had mine returned. I recommend getting a different product.

Is it possible to switch the HDD on this computer with a SSD?

Yes, without much trouble. Both the PCIe storage and the SATA connected harddrive can be removed and replaced with SSD counterparts.

The panel on the underside of the laptop has a number of screws to remove. Once done, gentle pop off the panel (I recommend a plastic opening tool to separate. I used a guitar pick). Both hard drives are easily accessible once opened.

Make sure to back up all data on the drive being removed prior to replacing. However, if you are planning on only removing the 1TB HDD, there should not be any data existing on the drive out of the box. Replaced both last week without issue.

I'm guessing not since ASUS would market it well, but does this laptop have an included fingerprint reader for Windows Sign In?

It’s RGB and the software is surprisingly not preinstalled. It’s called Asus Aura. By default, it cycles through different colors every couple seconds.

My earlier answer was inaccurate (I accidentally posted the specifications for the 17” version of this laptop). The correct numbers are: up to 4 hours of web browsing and 6 hours of video playback. Please keep in mind these are numbers from Asus, and haven’t been independently verified.

Is there a way to add extra storage?

You can't add internal storage without replacing one of the existing ones. I bought a 1 TB SSD and replaced the HDD it came with.

If the fans go bad, are they easily to replace from the bottom or is it a whole computer break down to change out a fan?

The GPU Fan was easy enough to replace, My CPU Fan has yet to go bad but it's getting there
