Does this board also support i7 Gen series? is it backward compatible ?

I bought this motherboard 8 months ago and it's great. I do competitive overclocking and benchmarking and ended up breaking 3 world records. That said, this motherboard will only support the high end X-series CPUs (not the regular lineup of processors). There is one i5-X and four i7-X (plus a few i9-X of course).

I just bought this X299 board, as well as Corsair H105 CPU Water Cooler. To what header should the H105's pump connect - AIO Pump? CPU Fan? CPU Opt?

does it have its own power connector? in this case to any. if not then use pump or CPU

It says in the product name "for Intel Core i9 and i7 X-Series Processors". Does this mean the motherboard is NOT compatible with the i5-7640X CPU?

It says that it supports all Intel X-Series Processors (Including the i5-7640X) in the description

Does ASUS provide drivers for windows 7 on their X299 motherboards?

Yes. Go to the manufacturer product page, select Support (top right), Drivers & Downloads (middle left), then choose your OS. They list Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 drivers.

Does this motherboard support USB-C connection from the chassis front I/O? The cable for it obviously is different than the USB 3.1 cables and I can't find where it goes..

It doesn't have a connector for that, so you'd have to use an adapter.

Will this motherboard fit a Noctua NH-D15 as well as a 1080ti? Also, will I run into trouble with the height of my RAM? Thanks!

Yes. I'm running this MB with a NH-D15, and an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition. It's tight, but everything fits. You *might* have trouble w/RAM height. I didn't, w/G.Skill TridentZ (N82E16820232296). Just make sure you don't get super-tall RAM.
