Pros: 5 year warranty
Cons: I went through three motherboard. 1st motherboard had PWR led light on. it didn't show any video. 2nd motherboard had DRAM led light on. I have 2x8 gb ram. I tried 1x8gb at a time and it still didn't work. 3rd motherboard it had both issue PWR and DRAM led light on.
Overall Review: My DRAM and Power supply is on QVL list. G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW
Pros: - Easy OC tools built-in. Got to 5ghz on a 8700k easily. - Excellent built-in sound. Specifically chose this MB because it has an optical SPDIF that the TUF Plus version does not. - Nice arrangement of features. Memory layout is nice. Plenty of room for my waterblock and radiators. Was able to hook up SATA cables to the front and not worry about stacking them (inline arrangement). - Has a fan hookup for a water cooling pump . Noice! - Turned on XMP and memory was detected at 3200 right away...just the way it should be.
Cons: - My previous board was the Sabertooth z87 with the TUF Armor and mini-fans and had a solid look to it. I miss that Asus!! I want the TUF Armor back! Whaaa! Might take the armor from my old board and glue it on the new one. 8^) - Orange LED. Comes in just one color....Orange! Does not go with my green LED's so I turned it off. BIOS option was a little tricky to find but easy to turn it off once located. - CPU Fan detection. If you hook your watercooler into the pump connect, you must turn off the CPU Fan detection in the BIOS or you system will not start properly. Had to figure out how to shut that down...would have been nice if it just prompted me with a "Do you want to see this again? (Y/N)"
Overall Review: I like this board...did not pay a whole bunch of cash, has nice features and a fairly nice quasi-military looking aesthetic. Still want the TUF Armor though!!
Pros: Just works. Like all my experiences with ASUS, this board worked the first time I installed it. Whether or not you will like the yellow and gray flourishes is up to you. I'm luke warm to it. The utilities and user's manual are superb although don't expect the excellent automatic overclocking utility that you get with more expensive ASUS boards
Cons: Does not have the automatic overclocking ability of its more expensive siblings. No Wi-Fi. The I/O panel is frustrating to try and install because of the plastic shield on the motherboard.
Overall Review: A good middle of the road board. In truth it should probably be $20 cheaper but overall it works beautifully and overclocks well if you don't mind doing it from within the BIOS. No RGB to speak of; just some weak yellow LEDs under the top edge of the board. If you just want to assemble your system then close the case and forget about it then this is a good choice.
Pros: When it worked it was fine. Lots of USB ports, more than you could use.
Cons: Died after two years. First motherboard I've had that did that. And I do use lots and lots of surge suppressors, Battery Backups, the usual protections.
Overall Review: Blamed me more bending the CPU pins. Right, like the thing worked for two years with bent CPU pins. Oh well. I've always used only ASUS motherboards, have built more I think ten or more desktops now. Thinking of switching to another brand.
Pros: I had this MOBO for about 2 years and one day it just stopped showing display and now is slowly blinking. There is a 5 year warranty and I plan on using that, I will bump up the review if the warranty is straightforward and easy to deal with.
Overall Review: The MOBO worked fine until now. I had no real issue and then all of the sudden it crashed on me
Pros: I, like William B the previous reviewer, am an old dude PC builder. I built my first one in the early 90's. Pretty easy setup although getting BIOS setup to boot from m2 NVME drive (ultra-fast SSD) took me awhile to figure out. You have to enable Intel Optane somewhere in the settings to get it to work ... can't remember ... I think I actually had to read the manual =). I usually buy ASUS mobos and built a couple of machines back in 2012 with their TUF series that are still running today (being on 24x7), so I really trust the name but was worried about the bad reviews here for this board. Those 2 machines I spoke of were $250-ish for the motherboard, these are priced at $150, so hopefully they perform as well over the long-haul, but so far no issues and the first build was back in August 2018. Two machines were built for stock traders (6-monitor setup) with m2 NVME drives, i7-8700, and 32GB RAM. The last one I built for Christmas for my son to help get his framerate up in Fortnite, same setup as trading builds but with single GTX 1070.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: At this point I would certainly recommend this board for other builders. Great price point, good features and works with the latest generation Intel CPUs. Good number of USB ports, would also recommend this paired with the Fractal Design Define C Case, it's a relatively small profile ATX case with great cable management.
Pros: Easy build, nice layout. I am an old guy without a ton of experience but this board was really easy to work with, made me star. All 3 worked perfectly out of the box. Used 32 GB 3600 Gskill, 500 GB Samsung 970, 1 TB SSD. Seems very fast and responsive. Bios and online bios update is really nice. Oldest one is over a year old, absolutely no issues at all---well one issue which I'll outline in ''cons''. Not sure if it's boards fault or mine, but most likely mine.
Cons: For some reason I can't get it to recognize any boot drive other than the Nvme drive. It won't let me switch to a SATA drive for boot. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Overall Review: Excellent product, great performance, easy to work with, good manual and online info. Would buy again or its successor. Totally impressed.
Pros: -steel reinforce PCIE slot for video card is awesome. It is the first time my video card did not sag when plugged into the motherboard! -ease of use -has everything most users will need. -Stable so far no crashes or issues to speak of
Cons: -Doesn't have Asus Aura, if you want that feature then get the Plus Gaming version -I'm upgrading from and Asus Sabertooth with the thermal armor, and while this motherboard still looks great, I wish they made one of these with the thermal armor. The thermal armor just looks TUF!
Overall Review: I bought this memory, and it really makes my system pop.
