Pros: - Low power consumption - ASUS Rapid replacement for 3 years - easy on the eyes - hours of use doesn't hurt the eyes - 8 quick select screen settings you can select, or you can manually adjust colors/contrast to your liking - thin and fairly light monitor - fits snugly up close to the wall leaving more room to use on your desk - monitor cable connections on the back are vertical vs horizontal - has speakers built-in - great for gaming - wall mountable - no dead pixels - VESA mountable - Fairly easy to setup and install - Comes with HDMI, DVI, and VGA cables
Cons: - rebate takes very long to get ( 5 months from my experience ) - vertical monitor connections on the back of the monitor are a plus... however they are recessed into the monitor housing about 1", so the connections are usable but difficult to install on/off, and after installation the cables kink nearly 90° to clear the back of the monitor housing. - pixel sharpness settings / vividpixel settings - if either one are turned up too much this makes the pixels look very strange. - Monitor menu buttons are sort of hidden on the back side of the bottom right of the monitor, which makes selecting the correct button a bit difficult. - Stand could be sturdier to prevent wobbling, bump the desk and monitor easily wobbles side to side. It works fine, but it would have been sturdier if the stand would have attached to the VESA mountable portion of the monitor instead of on the bottom of the monitor.
Overall Review: Great monitor even with some cons to live with. I have recommended this monitor to others. Can't be beat the price if it's on sale, $150 when I bought mine in 12-09-15. I bought 2 and 3 other friends bought them as well and all of them are still doing great. Handling the monitor can be a bit tricky as the screen extends all the way to the edge with no bezel. To avoid damaging or cracking the screen, great care should be taken to avoid applying pressure directly to the screen while holding and moving the monitor. Speakers aren't the best, but I wasn't expecting theater quality audio to come from a monitor.
Pros: Good color and viewing angles
Cons: Like others have reported, texts just aren't clear. Tried disabling Vivid pixel, but that did't help. Have Asus VE278 and that monitor has no such issues
Overall Review: I've tried 3 of the Asus 27" frameless line (VC279H, VX279, and VP279) and they all had the same text clarity issue. I'll stick with the older thick bezel models if it means I can read text on screen. Currently using AOC I2757FH and it's working fine.
Pros: - $120 IPS - Very nice color - No lag that I could notice - Decent amount of color settings although at least a few are basically useless - Easily Vesa mountable
Cons: - Speakers are trash but I doubt you're expecting them to be good - Base it comes with is sturdy, but much too short and barely has any tilt - Settings menu can be somewhat troublesome to navigate at first - Speaker makes it impossible to line more than one up without a gap (I only have one but have seen this)
Overall Review: After 2.5 years this thing is still going strong, I'm upgrading to a 144hz gsync to pair with the 1080 I got a little while back but I'm absolutely going to be keeping this as a secondary screen. For a reasonably priced good looking monitor this hits pretty much all the marks, all the negative points are in areas that you generally won't need to use often if even more than once. My only recommendation is to also invest in a vesa mount as the stand really doesn't cut it.
Pros: Pretty good overall. Took a lot of tweaking to find the color combo I liked. Price was right, for the size.
Cons: No display port, limited to 1920x10180 - I knew all that before buying though, so no eggs off.
Overall Review: The settings that work for me: Splendid: Game Mode Blue Light Filter: Can't edit in Game Mode Brightness: 80 Contrast: 78 Saturation: 55 Color Temp: User Mode -> R: 96, G: 96, B: 100 Skin Tone: Natural Sharpness: 50 Aspect Control: Full VividPixel: 0 ASCR: OFF Game Plus/ECO/etc. : OFF
Pros: The display part of the monitor (LCD panel, backlight, monitor frame etc) are fantastic. Both stylish and functional. My monitor had no pixel defects on arrival. Comes with all cables (although may not be long enough depending on your setup).
Cons: The stand is basic and works, but is too low - no a con for me since I'm using a VESA mount. The speakers are terrible, no bass - not a con for me since I'm using other speakers.
Overall Review: Would buy again for the display, can workaround the cons. Note there is about 11mm / 7/16" strip at top and both sides of monitor with no image due to the no display part of the LCD panel and the thin plastic frame. Something to consider if mounting two monitors side by side (so would be 22mm no display strip in center for two monitors). I have no issue with this for a single monitor. This is thinner than the border round my laptop.
Pros: - (in theory) Nice cheap IPS monitor
Cons: - The monitor suffers from flickering artifacts. For very specific color shades, the monitor will display horizontal flickering lines instead of solid color. Watching movies or playing games is still fine, but anything that needs large areas of solid color (browsing, text editing, programming - any office work, really) drives you insane on this monitor. Initially I chalked it up to a bad HDMI cable or graphics card, but I've been through three cables and two machines at this point and still have the same issue. My best guess is this - LCD monitors sometimes have less dynamic range than they need to display certain brightness values, so they use dithering to "fake" smaller brightness steps. This is normal. However, this monitor uses some of the worst dithering patterns I've ever seen - rather than using noise, this monitor displays horizontal lines of alternating brightness. Looking at LCD test images (google "lcd black level test") does seem to confirm this.
Overall Review: I really wanted to like this unit (IPS, at this price!), and it works fine most of the time. However, after a few days the flickering did not get any less distracting, so I'm not sure what to do at this point. My advice - spend a bit more money on a nicer panel.
Pros: I purchased two of these displays at the same time to replace to very aged Asus displays. I am very please with the image quality, the appearance of the displays and the thinner size of the bezels (well, compared to my old ones at least). Speakers were a must for me and at this price, they definitely fit the bill.
Cons: One display arrived defective. Honestly, this happened when I bought the original Asus displays as well, however they lived several years before one finally left this earth. I filed an RMA with Newegg and they exchanged the display for me.
Overall Review: The RMA with Newegg was painful and the customer service was terrible. I've spent a lot of money with Newegg over the years and tried to ask for their cooperation but they refused citing an issue with the original vendor so I felt let down as a dedicated customer. This, in no way, affects the opinion that I would buy these displays again, but from another company.
Pros: - 23" 1920x1080, IPS, anti-glare screen coating, 60Hz, HDMI - Inexpensive - Slim bezels are classy - Flicker-free design definitely a plus - Picture quality is very good, viewing angles are excellent, brightness is acceptable
Cons: - On-screen text a bit LCD-ized - Blue light filter makes picture hue a bit warmer than normal (could also be a plus, depending on your preference) - Sound from built-in 1.5W speakers lacks presence - Stand a bit wobbly--set this up somewhere it won't be jostled much
Overall Review: The VC239H is not an enthusiast monitor--no high/variable refresh rate, no USB hub, no DisplayPort connectivity--nor is it priced as such. This monitor is for those on a budget (like me), who want an affordable monitor with good picture quality and reasonable response times for playing games and watching movies. The VC239H fits that bill for me. Picked this up on sale, and am happy with the purchase.
