Question 1

So I am looking to build my own computer and when it comes to computers I am really stupid. So I have purchased my processor and I have two questions about this motherboard. Is it an ATX Large and will this motherboard be compatible with a Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770K? This motherboard is for the new 4th generation Core processors, codenamed Haswell, and is a Socket LGA 1150 motherboard. It is only compatible with the processors for this socket. You may want to continue looking at ASUS boards, as they are very reliable and expandable, but consider either this: ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard or ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, both available here on Newegg. These are at the same approximate price point, form factor, and have a similar feature set to this board, but will be compatible with the processor that you bought. All three boards are standard ATX motherboards, but the other two I mentioned are the ones that you'll be interested in. You should also look at Newegg's YouTube channel for tutorial videos for how to build a PC. They were very helpful even to someone like me with over two decades of PC experience.

Question 2

will this be able to be installed into my asus notebook pc, and is this a dual core processor? i need to be able to run things on virtual box.

This is a desktop motherboard, not a CPU or a notebook component. If I understand your question correctly, then I believe the answer is no. I used this to build a desktop which works well and can run Virtual Box just like any other PC. The reason I chose it was because it's approved and tested for Linux by Asus.

I just ordered this yesterday and a core i5 4690k. Is this compatible?

Question 4

The NewEgg specs for this board indicates it has Bluetooth 3.0 but the Asus specs do not show any Bluetooth.  One customer above indicated it doesn't have Bluetooth 4.0 (implying it does have BT 3.0) while others have said "no Bluetooth".  Based on the Asus specs, I'm guessing the card has not Bluetooth at all.  Can anyone confirm?

This does on have bluetooth or wifi on the board.  I'm disappointed since the comparison specs mentioned it had both, but the overall specs on the page don't mention them.  Newegg needs to fix that for sure since comparison specs are how I usually make a decision. Overall a great board, just set it up yesterday and didn't have any issues except for making a bios change for CSM to allow my old video card (Geforce 550 TI) to work correctly.  Fast and speedy and love using my mouse in the bios.

is this board big enough for a full tower?

Yes it will work fine. It has plenty of expansion room as well. I'm very pleased with mine. Build is I 7 4770 Haswell, 16 g 1600 RAM, dual 240 g SSD's in raid 1, and 2 additional 2T hard drives.

What is the difference between this "V" edition and the other Z87PRO MB?

From what I have read the only difference is that it doesn't have built in WIFI and Bluetooth 4.0. In my opinion these are not needed for a desktop computer but if the price is the same then go for the pro. The V edition was on sale for 169.99 When I purchased it.

Can I run Windows XP with this motherboard?

I am not quite sure to be honest, as I do not have windows XP, and it is such a backdated operating system. Being that this is a higher end motherboard, even if it did run windows XP, I would recommend spending a bit of money to update your operating system, as XP has a tendency to slow the computer down, and is no longer receiving support. If you are wanting to buy this type of motherboard, you are not the average computer user, and as such just for the sake of ease of access, it would probably be best to change your operating system, and allow the motherboard to work with the computer better. I would believe that a full system builders license of Windows 10 should be no different that any other new machine boot. May want to check with Microsoft to verify and I am sure you would like to start out with a free version of 10 rather than purchase 7/8 assuming the 10 system builders kits are also at no charge

Will sata-3gb hard drives run on this 6gb bus?

Yes, but at the 3gb speed, do yourself a favor, get an SSD for the OS and primary programs, I run 2 240gb SSD'S and a 1gb for storage, extremely fast, boot time less than 15 seconds.

Question 10

Will the Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHz LGA 1150 work out of the box with the bios, or will I have to update the bios with another CPU before I can install the 4460?

It is always a good idea to check the ASUS website with specific compatibility issues like that. It's been an excellent motherboard for me. If you purchase this I think you've made a great choice.
