will it run plex?

Yes, it excels at running Plex. When you do your initial setup it recommends Plex as one of it's top tier apps in the Admin portal's app central. However, it does not have the horsepower to push 10Bit 4k content. Bluray/standard 4k/ 1080p no problem

The Asustor 3102T uses ADM (Asustor Data Management) and at this time, it is using version 3.1.5.RJ42 (July 30th, 2018 build). You might want to the manufacturers sight for more details.
