Overall Review: Amending my prior review (and thanks for the tip from a commenter on another web site): while Acer support is useless, there is a way to get SP1 to install on this laptop. (1) Download the latest HD Graphics driver from Intel's web site. (2) In Control Panel > Device Manager, uninstall the existing (oem) graphics driver. Don't worry; your screen will still work, just at a lower resolution. Reboot. (3) Install the downloaded intel graphics driver. Reboot. (4) Use Windows Update. SP1 should now appear and install without issues.

Pros: Small, light, good battery life and powerful

Cons: Manages about 4.5 hours of honest, full power, battery life. I would like to see a bit more...but that would require a bigger battery or slower speed....so I'm content.

Overall Review: I'm not sure why others have rated this so low. I did a clean install of Win7 SP1 x64 with no issue. The keys take a whole day to get used too...then the typing is really fast on it. The battery life is less than advertised but really of little concern. I use this at work to monitor network activity and do remote work for our users. It's a powerhouse and I'm really happy with it.

Pros: Very small and light-weight. You can very easily carry this in one hand while running for others to view. Battery life lasts for about 4.5 to 5 hours doing moderate tasks like browsing the web or working on spreadsheets.

Cons: My biggest grip about this laptop is the keyboard feels really flimsy. It is made of this plastic squares that feel as if they will fall of after a couple years of use. I guess they had to compromise due to the size of this thing but typing on it is quite uncomfortable. Your WPM will fall on this thing. Another gripe is the sound. The speakers are placed underneath - left and right of the track pad. It is very weak. If you plan to use this on a bed, sounds will be muffled. Using the HDMI port, full 1080p performance also suffers from stuttering when playing 1080 videos. For viewing speadsheets or regular websites though it is fine. The 5400 rpm drive is okay. Windows boots in less than a minute most of the time. But if you have friends with fancy macbook airs then this boot up time might be unacceptable. Of course the laptop is cheap enough for you to buy an SSD for this thing and have more storage than an AIR and come at around same total price.

Overall Review: Despite all those gripes the redeeming factor for this product is its size. It is very small and portable which is why I got it in the first place over the Alienware M11x. If that is what you are looking for then this is the better laptop. As for me, I do care about 1080 performance and have decided that gaming on the go is also desirable, so when Alienware revises the M11 with DirectX 11 parts I will sell this and get that. For the reviewer who was complaining about bloatware, he or she should realize that despite being an annoyance. The bloatware companies help subsidize the cost of the laptop which makes it more affordable for you and me. This is not to say that bloatware is good but merely that bloatware is not all bad.

Pros: Plentiful features in a small and lightweight package. Very responsive performance and plenty of storage space. Stays very cool despite its higher horsepower cpu. From a hardware view this is a great ultraportable.

Cons: Battery life shorter than advertised...but still makes 5 hours of normal use. Too much bloatware, over 20GB worth! Unable to restore barebones OS, restore disk adds ALL bloat again. Most are trials that require additional purchase at some point. Whats wrong with a clean OS install out of the box? Put the junk on a disc and let the customers decide if they want it.

Overall Review: One of the packages included, "MyWinLocker Suite" will not uninstall, and of course the restore disk puts it back on anyway. Acer support was happy to hand me off to "Pay for Support" to remove it, absurd. Why do they put stuff like this on PCs? I will end up buying a new copy of Windows to get rid of it...too bad the software load mars an otherwise great piece of hardware.

Pros: Compact and powerful, this is what laptops should have always been.

Cons: Will not load service pack for Windows 7. I tried to talk to Acer customer service, but they will not help unless you pay them. I did not buy a computer with a large hard drive so the manufacturer would have room to load a bunch of junk on it. I spent five hours unloading bloatware and I still don’t have it all off.

Overall Review: This is my fourth Acer laptop, and because of the issues with Acer customer support it will be my last. Anyone want a good deal on a one month old notebook?

Pros: 4GB of RAM with a high cached CPU massive HDD and Bluray capable IGP inside a laptop that's almost as small as a netbook? And the battery life? What's not to like?

Cons: OEM Windows. Win7 is fine on this machine, but since I don't game on it I just put Kubuntu on it and have been free of paying for bloated OSs and expensive outdated software. The price of this machine does hurt but hey, it's pretty good stuff for the size of the machine.

Overall Review: For this type of computer why bother with windows?

Cons: This computer will not run Windows 7 SP1. The Intel HD Graphics requires an updated driver before SP1 will install. (See MS KB2498452.) While Intel has released generic drivers, Acer will not allow them to be installed (neither the zip nor exe nor manual installation will complete). Acer insists that only their OEM graphics driver can be installed, which is an obsolete version of the Intel driver -- one that is incompatible with SP1. I'm still in warranty, and went through several levels of Acer tech support to no avail. They have no solution, and no intention of providing one. All they do is offer to charge me money to "walk me through" pointless repetitive exercises. Their position is that SP1 is a new operating system and they have no obligation to support it. Then why block the solutions that others provide? Goodbye Acer.
