Pros: Pros. -screen remains bright with ELMB enabled -color depth is remarkable -comes calibrated -screen uniformity is excellent -IO gives the option to connect with multiple inputs -OSD buttons are intuitive
Cons: Cons -170hrz with ELMB G-SYNC can introduce flicker. Note: the flicker is not present with included cable(1.4 DP cable)at 165hrz.
Overall Review: The colors in this monitor is amazing.
Pros: Brightness level Refresh rate Design
Overall Review: After just a month, two stucks pixels appeared (green dots when the background is black) I tried the tools, the YouTube videos with no success. I though this was going to be the perfect monitor. I'm dissapointed to be honest.
Overall Review: So happy to finally make the move to 2K! Flight Simming in 2K is beautiful on this monitor. The resolution is a nice middle of the road between 1080p and 4K when it comes to smooth FPS in Flight Sims. The colors are vibrant and the brightness is beyond stunning! Sad to think I haven't been looking at such rich colors (on default settings) until now all these years. The side controls to all the features are easy to get to and change on the fly while gaming to get the look you want which is one my favorite features after 2K resolution! So glad a spent a few dollars more to go for the ROG-Strix line. It's really a gorgeous monitor to look at whether it's on or off! Zero dead pixels too, btw! :)
Overall Review: Please note I have only owned this display for under a week I cannot comment on the long term reliability this is more my initial impression. The fit and finish of this monitor is fantastic, it has a very high quality feel to the stand and housing with very slim bezels on the sides and top. The screen itself has more of a semi-gloss finish which is something small to note if you are using it near a window with direct sunlight I actually prefer it over the very matte TN panel it replaced, but that can be personal preference. The monitor has virtually no backlight bleed only when looking at certain angles in black scenes I can catch a little bit in the corners but thats very good compared to other IPS displays I have owned. I checked the display on dead pixel buddy and its virtually perfect I was not able to catch any dead pixels. A nice feature is it comes with a color calibration report so they go through and individually color calibrate these. I have it overclocked to 170hz with g-sync enabled, no ELMB or HDR enabled and there is no flickering in this scenario. I have read reports that ELMB is just not great on this panel but I never planned to use it in the first place for several reasons. I have not noticed any increased input lag, ghosting, smearing or any motion related issues. As far as HDR its HDR 400, and its definitely noticeable and was better than I expected. If HDR is your main focus you would probably want something higher than 400 but it still works fine and looks great. The only thing I am scratching my head about is displayport 1.2 I thought a monitor in this price would have DP 1.4 but Im no expert on these standards and figuring out exactly which inputs support which features can be a little confusing so I'm not even sure that it matters. That is really my only gripe and Im not going to knock a point off for it because I knew this upfront before I bought the monitor. So in conclusion if you want an amazingly vibrant monitor with a great 1440p IPS panel and great colors that does 170hz with good dynamic range and has that high end look and feel I can see no reason not to buy this one it really has a little of everything.
Pros: Amazing monitor really it is
Cons: 1 stuck right out of the box
Overall Review: Mixed feelings only because of the pixel being stuck
Pros: 1. Fantastic colors and brightness when ELMB mode or HDR mode is DISABLED. 2. Overclocks to 170Hz easily without flickering while gaming (ELMB + GSYNC OFF). 3. No IPS backlight bleed, IPS glow is present but not overwhelming. 4. Came with DisplayPort and HDMI cables.
Cons: 1. ELMB and HDR when enabled isn’t perfect and causes colors to be washed out and darkened on desktop and in-game. 2. GSYNC + ELMB at 170Hz enabled has bad to average strobe cross talk (after double image effect of fast-moving objects) 3. GSYNC + ELMB at 170Hz also created some bad flickering in games where frame rate dramatically changes ie. Apex Legends, Modern Warfare, anything with high action.
Overall Review: Driving this monitor is an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti. Out of the box the monitor runs great from the factory calibration, the colors were spectacular and there was no backlight bleeding at the corners of the screen. With the 170Hz overclock enabled and both ELMB and GSYNC DISABLED monitor doesn’t disappoint performance wise, I haven't experienced any flickering. You hardly see screen tearing in fast motion games and there are no ghosting or double images, just a minor blur which is better than the blur from my previous 144Hz 1ms gaming monitor. I can say I can track my targets better while shooting in games like Apex Legends. As soon as I started testing games with 170Hz monitor overclock, GSYNC and ELMB ENABLED my opinion of the monitor really lowered because I was hoping for perfect results. I instead was shown some pretty bad strobe crosstalk (double images), screen darkness (even at 100 brightness), ghosting, and flickering images. I do not recommend using this monitor with ELMB and GSYNC on for fast motion games because of the double images and ghosting even if it does eliminate tearing. Do I recommend this monitor? YES if you’re not looking to use GSYNC, ELMB or HDR400. The refresh and response rate are fantastic and DOESN’T sacrifice image color and quality.
Pros: Beautiful Picture, excellent mobility, and easy controls.
Cons: less than a week and a very distracting stuck bright green pixel of which pixel repair software has been unable to restore. Color scheme for presets seem a little over saturated but that could just be my eyes. Anyone spending this much on a monitor is probably going to have a dedicated sound system so that's a bit of a waste.
Overall Review: With display panel rma's the way they are its difficult to recommend an expensive monitor that practically has to be unusable before you can get it replaced. As is I will probably not be going Asus for my next upgrade.
Pros: -Wide variety of color options, profile options, etc... -It can be set to 4k@60Hz
Cons: -2 Stuck pixels right out of the box. -AURA Sync (Ver. 1.07.79) is broken.
Overall Review: I just got this monitor and was really excited for it but when I turned it on I saw 2 stick pixels (1 Green 1 Red). I tried JScreenFix and those 8 hour youtube vids overnight but neither worked. I contacted ASUS and all they said was “Warranty only covers it if you’re in the US”. Asus has a "Zero Bright Dot guarantee to ensure that your product performs to the highest quality." It was such a downer to see these 2 stuck pixels :/
