Pros: Its a 2 in 1
Speed suprisingly fast
Graphics good for some games like Star Wars online, WoW, etc...
Cons: No backlit keyboard
Little heavy for a 2 in 1
Overall Review: If it had the cons I mentioned price would have been higher. Besides that everything works good. Not sure about the wifi drops that could be a ISP problem not the product. I game online and not a hiccup. Even when I brought it to my parents house netflix streamed just fine. The hard drive makes little noise so I will be putting in a ssd soon. For $499 this should be a no brainer. If you want high end specs the get a Yoga Pro or Surface Pro, don't complain about this product its only $499 people.
Pros: Excellent speed and responsiveness. The screen is large and wide, I have no issues with the display. My son has played world of Warcraft on it using the ultra mode without any issues. The battery life is excellent (I get about 10 hours with moderate use) and they keyboard is spaced out nicely. The laptop looks like its higher quality, the feel isn't as nice (but not cheap feeling) however it is fairly light for its size. The screen is very clear and bright, very nice quality.
Cons: The only cons I have about this laptop is that the keyboard doesn't light up and that the cord coming from the adapter is not as long as I would like it to be.
Pros: I love the size of the device at 15 inches. Some people would complain that it is too big and heavy to be used as a tablet, but I really like it. The touchpad is excellent and the keyboard is very nice, as well. The device itself seems very well-built and it runs quickly and quietly without getting hot.
Cons: There are two major issues that I have with this device: the screen and the wireless drops.
1.) Screen - When using this as a regular laptop with the keyboard on your lap and the screen at a "regular" angle, the screen is very nice.
However, when flipping the screen to use it as a tablet, the screen is shockingly bad, even when viewed at the same angle as the "regular laptop angle." holding the device in portrait mode particularly highlights the poor viewing angles. Holding the device in a natural position in portrait orientation results in a lot of "glow" or "hologram" types of patches on the screen (I'm not sure how to describe it.) I found that in order to get a "flat," clean picture, I needed to tilt the top of the screen away from me and view the screen from the lower right corner (about 4 or 5 o'clock.) However, this is obviously not a natural way to view the device and viewing it at this angle gives you a nice flat picture but the colors are dim and washed-out, so this isn't really a feasible solution.
These same issues occur when holding the device in landscape mode while the device is flipped to be used like a tablet.
2.) WiFi drops: Initially, I thought it was my network, but seeing the first few reviews here lends to the idea that this might be a device issue. Additionally, my regular laptop from 2011 never drops a WiFi signal. In fact, I had to repeat several processes in the initial setup phase of the computer because it wouldn't hold a signal.
It usually corrects itself immediately, so if I am just browsing the internet this would not be an issue. However, I can see these slight hiccups in WiFi connection becoming a huge pain if I am trying to download or stream something, as the hiccup would interrupt and likely ruin the entire process.
Overall Review: Basically, using the device in any other way than a regular laptop will lead to frustration, which kind of eliminates the purpose of this being a 2-in-1. I was really looking forward to this, as it is my first 2-in-1, but I am very disappointed thus far. I am going to try this device for a few more days, but if I cannot get past its flaws, I am sadly going to have to return it. This is also my first Asus product (I typically buy HP,) and the surprisingly poor practicality of the screen and WiFi are leaving me feeling a little duped.
Pros: See earlier review
Cons: See earlier review
Overall Review: This is just a update from my earlier review. I upgraded this with a Samsung EVO 850 SSD. This device flies even faster. I've had this device since October of 2014 and I must say this has been a fantastic device. I've Had Windows 10 Insider Preview installed since January as well. Windows 10 and this device is awesome. If you purchase this laptop you will love it. When Windows 10 officially comes out you will love it more.
Pros: it is awesome to have flip feature and touch screen.
Cons: internet connection keeps dropping randomly and screen gets dim at some angle of view.
Overall Review: i don't recommend
Pros: Price and features: responsive touchscreen, a decent amount of RAM and a decent processor. It's hefty but that lends to a solid feel. The only flimsy part is that plastic gap filler in the hinge that's between the screen and base.
Cons: Upgradeability: Even though the internals are like any other normal laptops (including a 2.5" hdd bay and standard laptop RAM) according to Asus, just opening the case will void the warranty. Which is a pity as the machine's performance is more then mediocre for Windows 8.1 standards and would greatly benefit from an SSD. Also of note is that most machines have a Void Warranty sticker on one of the screws holding the hard drive in place. Opening the case isn't hard either with only a few screws to take out, you can use your finger nail or a thin screwdriver to pop the bottom lid off.
Overall Review: Sadly you can't find too many reviews of this machine. I'm not a professional reviewer so take mine with a grain of salt. Frankly I'm being generous by giving this machine a 4/5 eggs. The price is competitive with top tier manufacturers, but do not buy it at or around MSRP. For that price, you can buy a Lenovo Yoga 3.
Pros: - The graphics card runs very smoothly, I play league of legends on ultra 60 fps easily
- The processor is fine for its price
- I really like the touch screen aspect it helps out a lot
Cons: - I wish this came with and SSD
Overall Review: Solid
Pros: Honestly, for the price, I can't find much wrong with this laptop.
Many reviews had warned of poor WiFi, however I've found it to be exceptional when connected wireless to my home network. I would recommend for anyone looking for a good, cheap solution.
Cons: My only con would be Windows8.1 being pre=loaded on the machine...bleck! As other have mentioned just d/ld "classic shell" or similar and the OS is tolerable.
