Pros: - Well built - Memorizing RGB lighting - Metal finish - Super responsive switches - Great spacing between keys - Comes with key remover - Great addition to any gaming setup - Custom community profiles in software is awesome So far I have had an amazing time with this keyboard. I haven't had many mechanical keyboards before due to most of the ones I used being shoddy at best. However, this is a piece of art. I notice a HUGE difference in quality with this one. The metal finish makes it feel like it is worth the money you threw at it. The feel of pressing your meet sticks on these keys is incredibly satisfying. The number one thing that I noticed about this besides the build quality is the responsiveness of the keystrokes. It is SUPER sensitive. So finger it with care. The RGB is fun to look at, even to the point to where it can become distracting. I had to set the profile to an imported custom layout that has fixed lighting so I wouldn't pay attention to the keyboard instead of the task at hand. The software though could use a little work. More on that in the Cons.
Cons: - Software - Takes some getting used to - Hot spots on light bar The software. Oh boy, this one is a toughy. I like the ease of use on it. However, it messes up quite a bit. Crashes every once a while and sometimes doesn't even load the profiles. Nothing a patch here and there can fix, but man, its rough. There was even a bug with Mass Effect Andromeda where it black-screens if you have it installed. Not sure if it was a Corsair screw up or Bioware screw up, but it was fixed with a day one update in Mass Effect. It needs a little work, but I'm not knocking an egg off since it can be fixed. The Keys can be a little too sensitive. I type hard. Like really hard. Sometimes I forget that I am holding the keys down on some of them when playing games and the switches pick up on that. It really takes some getting used to, but I like it. Not knocking an egg off just because it is user error.
Overall Review: All in all, this is one awesome product. I give it high praises. Def recommend this to anyone who has the money for it.
Pros: Phenomenally short actuation distance on the switches. Once you learn your way around them, keys you're just thinking about hitting will seem to have already pressed themselves, which is especially great for twitch games. The included palm rest has a reversible smooth and grippy texture, which is nice. The extruded switch design makes cleaning it extremely simple and, while it's not waterproof, I'm much less nervous about drinking over this keyboard than one with an exposed PCB (save for the spacebar, more on that in the cons.) The keycaps have a nice shape to them, making it easy to hit them from all sorts of angles other than just homerow. As a bonus, it comes with spare keycaps for W A S and D with the grippy corrugated texture like the spacebar and the G macro keys. The key paint (which is extremely sturdy by the way -- you won't be scraping it off with your nails like on Razer keyboards) is grippy enough for most people, but as a guitarist with thick callouses on the tips of my left hand's fingers, that texture keeps me from slipping off in FPS games.
Cons: A design flaw in the spacebar can cause it to pop off of one of the balancers on either side if you press down too far on one end of the key. This results in the key only being able to actuate from pressure on the opposite side of the keycap until you press it back onto the balancer. This doesn't come up in typing once you learn the short actuation distance of the keys, but it can in games if your thumb curls under your index finger while you WASD. Fixing it is a simple hack -- just add a 2 to 3 mm shim to each side between the alt keys, reducing the overtravel -- but a keyboard at this price shouldn't require hacks to make it work reliably, so I'm dinging an egg for that. While you're in there, cover the slot in the case beneath the spacebar and eliminate the only tricky part of cleaning the board. Not sure why they left that open. One minor gripe I also have is that when you set it to "white" some of the keys have a red or green tint and you have to adjust them individually to get visually white light, but that's a simple enough process. It's also not compatible with AURA Sync, but I'm not clear if that's ASUS' fault or Corsair's.
Overall Review: It's an excellent, good looking, easy to clean keyboard with very nice switches. Although they take some getting used to, I've since used a long actuation distance, high pressure clicky keyboard and I can say for sure I prefer it now. It's joy to both type and game on once you learn the board. Disappointing that it has a mechanical flaw, no matter how easy it is to fix. I still highly recommend it though, especially for gaming.
Pros: There is no click, if thats what you prefer, just tactile keys many lighting profiles and macros you can program using the icue service
Cons: When you press on the backspace button, it presses it "twice" and this becomes incredibly irritating when working on a paper
Overall Review: Keyboard is great for gaming, but when i started college and started writing papers, when I hit backspace once, it registers it as 2 button presses and deletes 2 characters
Pros: Really like the speed switches, typing is very smooth and semi-quite! The lighting quality and brightness are top notch, and the keyboard itself seams well built! The software is well done, and easy to use!
Cons: I came from a mechanical keyboard that had headphone and mic pass through, really wish this one had it so I didn't have to run a 3.5 extension cable from the back of my pc to use my headphones...Corsair not everyone uses USB headsets and Mics!!! But I can't take an egg off cause I knew about this before hand! EDIT: 5/17/2017 > After some use I love the keyboard, however a few of my keys have noticeable spring noise, kind of annoying! Im not a 24/7 gamer, I work 9hrs a day and game afterwards for about 6hrs or so, for the price the switches shouldn't be breaking down already! :(
Overall Review: Seams a tad bit too expensive, don't get me wrong love the keyboard! The quality of it seams top notch, but is it really worthy of a 200$ price tag?!
Pros: -feels as quality as the price tag -the RGB system is as complex as you'd hope it'd be -wrist rest is very nice -the media controls are a nice touch -has a nice textured space bar that I personally enjoy
Cons: -I wish the keycaps would have been in a more professional looking font -sometimes it doesn't load your keyboard profile until after you get logged in
Pros: So here is my not so quick review of the Corsair Gaming K95 RGB PLATINUM Mechanical Keyboard, Cherry MX speed, Black I first started with Corsair's first RGB keyboard the K70RGB (brown switches). After while I switched to SteelSeries Apex M800 USB Mechanical Keyboard because it HAD the 6 programmable keys, MUCH better lighting and its version of "speed" keys and better spacing. Also, it was much easier to program and use but I NEVER really liked how it fit with the rest of the setup which was MM800 RGB POLARIS Gaming Mouse Pad, Corsair Gaming M65 Pro RGB FPS Gaming Mouse, and 900D case, so when the K95 Platinum hit the streets I couldn’t resist PRO - collimation of all Corsair advances in its keyboard series improvements for the last 2 years - Bigger lettering on keys - Wider layout for better key spacing - Brighter LEDs - AWESOME wrist support (which is made of rubber like material that really works and keeps my wrist from sliding) - 6 additional programmable keys - Much better and easier to reach multimedia keys - LIGHT EDGE - LOVE it !!! it complements the MM800 very well and adds some cool bling to the setup - Speed switches - Overall all a VERY nice package, solid feel, looks awesome, feels great
Cons: CON - well one thing that Corsair has NOT learned how to make better, CUE software which has been updated, looks much better but still is a major PAIN to use and counter-intuitive, but in my case (I read elsewhere totally broke reason to return the keyboard) works "good enough". I use the LIGHTING LINK for my effects across all 3 devices which works well. HOWEVER; trying to do anything more advanced is just insane. On top of it there is no manual but if you do some digging on the net you will find a "unofficial" programming guide. So, if you have the TIME and PATIENCE have fun. Why in the world Corsair still has not figured out how to implant basic easy and intuitive mode is beyond me. I am ALL for POWER users who have the time do program the keyboard ;-) But the rest of was wants EASE of use and STABILITY which CUE has NONE. CORSAIR do me a favor if for some reason, you read user feedback...go buy and use Razor, SteelSeries or NZXT RBG products and learn about easy way to setup zones and add effects. All I wanted to do on K95 Platinum was to have the VISOR effect on the "light edge" WHILE using LIGHTING LINK for "transition between two colors and static lighting on WASD keys... - LIGHT EDGE, as awesome as it is ...it is NOT as well implemented as in MM800 RGB gaming mouse pad. The light is NOT evenly distributed and has "darker" zone and WHITE uniformity is lacking which BTW is NOT the same K temp as the WHITE on the mouse pad. It bothers me but not to the point of returning the keyboard - LED brightens for profile/Windows Key lock/ Brightness indicators - very dim in no way to make them brighter - SPEED switches, as awesome as they are they are still loud, not as bad as others but still...I resolved this a bit by installing Rosewill Rubber O-Ring Sound Dampeners for Cherry MX Key Switch, this simply is nature of the beast i.e. mechanical keyboard but the dampeners made a WORLD of difference to me ;-)
Overall Review: So that's it....I will keep the keyboard because the positives outweigh the negative and I know Corsair will eventually update CUE and hopefully for better and improve lighting edge perhaps through firmware. Frankly I would have kept the keyboard in development and QA just tad longer to work out those bugs but again COST vs TIME vs ferocious competition in market segment. Regardless I would recommend K95Platinum but with some caution
Pros: Perfect size, awsome key switches, beautiful lighting with many options, top quality build and very easy to use software.
Cons: None it's perfect for me.
Pros: You definitely get what you pay for with this beast. Extremely sturdy. Easy key removal. RGB works and looks amazing. Speed switches have a great feel. Textured keys. Beautiful metal framing. Software is easy and handy.
Cons: Remember in jurassic park when the kids found the night vision goggles, then the man in the front seat said "are they heavy? then they are expensive." Well this bad boy is definitely heavy, and definitely expensive.
Overall Review: Overall this is the best keyboard money can buy. If you have the means to buy an amazing keyboard that performs incredibly and durable to last several years, this is what you need. Newegg as always gets a shout out for shipping this quickly and getting to me a day before the 3 day shipping I paid for.
