Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Corsair designs cases that are very well thought out and this one is no exception. It has watercooling in mind and I have been able to fit a custom water loop in this case.

Cons: large, but is that really a con?

Overall Review: If you have the space for such a large case this will be an excellent gaming rig

Pros: I'm a computer technician and I used this case for a personal build. I love Corsair. I try to always use their parts for my customers. This case has all the room you need. It's huge. When UPS delivers it you'll be shocked at the size of the box. It's perfect for hiding wires and has everything you need for water-cooling. I recommend watching some videos on youtube and Corsairs webpage about the case. It's all true, none of it is misleading. It just has one flaw; see below.

Cons: The case has four "hot swaps" for the hard drives bays. One power cord hooks to each one then to ONE of the S-ATA power connectors on your PSU, which is kind of cool. Well on the back of the four bays there are these little circuit boards and one of them came broke. It was just a plastic piece that the S-ATA cable plugs into; thus not allowing the cable to stay in place. Not a problem; I called them and they said they would send a new one. It's just four screw to replace it. BUT HERE COMES THE CON: The little boards are S-ATA2. Tech support said it will not recognize a hard drive if your MB is S-ATA3 6Gb/s or if the HDD is S-ATA 6Gb/s on a S-ATA2 MB. I asked since I needed what they called a new "back plain" for one of the hot swaps' if they could send me some kind of upgrade. He'd said there is not one and wouldn't give me ANY information if they're going to make an upgrade kit. His solution was just unscrew all four "back plains'" and bypass the how swap feature all together. :(

Overall Review: Let's hope they make an upgrade package for the 800D and not make us buy a whole new case. It's not their fault, we all know future proofing is somewhat impossible, but they can still make it right. P.S. Tech support was very knowledgeable. Overall Review: BE AWARE / FYI - the 800D now ships with the USB 3.0 Front Panel *AND* the SATA 6Gb/s Upgrade Kit. This is not found anywhere on the Internet. I did not know this, and "wasted" money by ordering both from Corsair...

Pros: This is by far the best case ever!!!! Mine came with USB 3.0 and the SATA III backplate. I was able to air cool my 2600K at 4.8 gig. I later went to a water cool and got 5.0.

Cons: UPS likes to drop kick these things. The box was severely damaged and some parts were broken. Corsair replaced them no charge, their customer service is the best.

Pros: I absolutely love this case and wanted to point out that my new Obsidian 800D ordered on 4/29/2011 DID include both the USB 3.0 front port and the SATA 3 back plate for the hard drives

Cons: Just the price, but I think you get what you pay for and a case is something you use through many upgrades.

Pros: Just purchased this a few days ago. I read reviews stating that Corsair updated the Hot Swap Backplane to Sata 3 and Front Panel to USB 3.0 since December of 2010. Sure enough when I received my case it had the updated Hot Swap Backplane and Front Panel with USB 3.0 support.

Cons: my bank account balance is now $269.99 lower than it was a few days ago. Wish it was made entirely of Aluminum.

Overall Review: If you've never bought a case before, be sure you're not going bigger than what you would find necessary. I, however love having the room to work with and fit a large GPU (Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD5870 2GB), plus everything cools well. You could tell that this case is built to last and serve throughout your biggest PC building projects. This case might not be suitable for LAN partiers who would like to take their PC different places.
