Looks nice and mostly functional, but... 5/1/2020 7:04:44 AM

Pros: - Solid appearance
- Key function is nice and smooth
- Detachable "wrist" rest is a neat idea
- USB pass-through is nice if you need it

Cons: - Started malfunctioning after one day
- The "wrist" rest is more like a palm rest
- Company website doesn't actually exist

Overall Review: I saw others had experienced some issues with keys on this thing, but I was desperate for a new keyboard after going through two others in a month that had glaring problems of their own, and this was the best choice of looks, function, and price, so I tried to risk it.

Yeah, that was a mistake. This thing lasted A DAY before the I key started malfunctioning. Whenever I press it, there's a decent chance a single press will type out 1-4 i's, causing constantly backspacing to fix it. If it were a rarely-used key like ` or even Z, it wouldn't be so bad, but the I key is kind of an important one. I've had to stop and backspace about 15 times so far just writing this review. I pried the key off and tried to make sure the mechanism underneath was good and clean, which seemed to help a little, but it still happens regularly.

I also saw the manual listed a website for the company where I could download firmware updates, so I went to see if that might help. Except it turns out the website doesn't exist. So that happened.

This is the third keyboard in a month I've gone through trying to find a decent one. Apparently if I want smooth function, reliability, and good price, I can only pick two.

Great full keyboard 10/27/2016 2:06:45 PM

Pros: Upgraded from a glitchy membrane keyboard, and I don't think I'm ever going back to those.
-LEDs are nice, WASD keys are illuminated which I like for gaming
-Satisfying to type on, my first mechanical keyboard
-Detachable handrest as well as detachable magnetic rubber pad on Left side is a nice and appreciated feature
- USB port on backside of keyboard is smart, makes it easy to hook up your mouse, I mean besides touchpads who doesn't use one?

Cons: Download software for keyboard seemed incomplete and non-functioning so I was kind of left in the dark with that, but keyboard worked fine without it regardless.

Overall Review: Not a con but make sure speed setting is set to 1x if you're playing a game, otherwise it may cause issues with keys that are held down for a period of time ( like your W,A,S, and D keys for moving)

Looks decent, and is easy to clean out. 7/30/2016 5:34:59 PM

Pros: It has decent aesthetics
Easy to clean with air since it has raised keys.

Cons: Didn't feel very comfortable for me
After 3 months it started getting a problem where it repeated t and a few other keys multiple times while typing.

Overall Review: Had to shelf the keyboard after the problem progressed further and take my old keyboard back out to use.

It has some good ideas. 7/26/2016 10:57:23 AM

Pros: I kinda liked the idea of the FPS palm rest. Also, the aluminum chassis...

Cons: Not a fan of the aluminum chassis as it turns out.. It makes the keys extra loud.

Overall Review: I had to send it back due to the noise but also because I couldn't look at it seriously after I realized it looked like it came off the set of the 70's TV show Space: 1999...

Shoddy manufacturing 5/27/2016 8:43:17 PM

Pros: -Pretty

Cons: -Top keys break after clicking a few times
-Keyboard stopped working (wouldn't leave boot mode) after I carried it in my backpack once. My other 3 keyboards never had issues before, not sure why the 600K did.
-Support less than useless

Overall Review: When I had my Corsair headphones break, they replaced them no questions asked. When my Asus laptop stopped working, they fixed it for me. When my Cougar keyboard broke after a month, they repeated the instruction manual to me then said tough luck. Guess which company I'm not going back to.

One of the best values out there 4/22/2016 11:39:19 AM

Pros: -Purchased on Newegg for under $70 on sale, a steal for any quality mechanical keyboard, much less one with genuine cherry keys, an aluminum chassis and a feature set like this keyboard.

-The wristrest is serviceable and the rubberized magnetic FPS attachment is a very nice touch. Only grip is that there aren't two of them to give the option of a symetrical and rubberized wristrest.

-This keyboard (with MX Red switches) is incredibly responsive for gaming and it may be placedo, but I could swear that the 1000hz polling rate (1 update per 1ms) and on board processor made a noticeable difference over my keyboards with standard polling rate 125hz (1 update per 8 ms) and no processor. As best I can tell, with the info I have, there is between an 8 and 20 ms speed difference between this keyboard and a mech with standard polling rate. That is a really small margin, and hardly reason to buy this keyboard by itself, but given that it is a dedicated gaming keyboard with virtually everything you could want (sans macro keys and full backlighting) for a very low price, there is no way I can give this anything less than 5 stars.

-Looks/Toughness. Nice build quality, aluminum. Raised keys mean easy cleaning. Not likely to break this bad boy any time soon.

-Plug and play. No software needed.

-Comes with stickers...yep, stickers with various Cougar logos. Gimmicky? Perhaps, but a nice touch and I've had a soft spot for stickers since kindergarten because...stickers.

Cons: Backlighting is adjustable brightness, but only in a single color (orange) and limited to just the WASD and arrow keys.
Volume control is inferior to scroll wheel as found on Logitech and Corsair mechs. Not a knock on this keyboard, but once you've had the convenience of a scroll wheel anything else feels inferior.

Overall Review: Found I preferred the short travel distance and tactile feedback of the MX Browns on my Logitech 710+ over the MX Reds on this board after only two weeks of use. This is a personal preference and not a reflection of the build quality or value of the keyboard.

Keycaps are a rather dense single shot ABS. No complaint there.

Overall a very outstanding keyboard for the price point I got it for. Even at a price point of $100, this is a pretty good value. I very much like Cougar's apparent design philosophy and styling and even though this keyboard is not my daily driver due to the Cherry MX Reds, I would definitely consider purchasing Cougar products in the future.
