Pros: -The monitor arrived with no flaws or issues. -Power cable included for all regions. -Premium build quality with a solid, durable feel. -Highly adjustable, the monitor can even turn left or right. -Lots of settings to make calibration possible / easy. -Monitor firmware can be updated over USB. -Monitor settings can be adjusted via OSD app. -The anti-glare coating on this monitor doesn't bother me at all. -Blacks are deep, with no bleed or lack of uniformity as expected of a high end VA panel. -No noticeable banding. -10-bit and 12-bit support on AMD settings, as well as HDR.
Cons: -As with every other VA monitor, this one suffers from backlight flicker when using freesync or g-sync.
Overall Review: I highly recommend this monitor. I was looking for a VA gaming monitor because I wanted to avoid the IPS backlight bleed lottery and get some good contrast (deep blacks) but I kept seeing negative reviews on top models such as the Samsung Chg70 with motion issues such as ghosting and trailing as well as poor quality control. I eventually found a monitor that was very well regarded and competitively priced, the MSI MAG271CQR, and while it mostly lived up to expectations I encountered some issues. This issues were strong noticeable banding, the anti-glare coating was very visible as a form of rainbow dots on the screen which gave me eye strain and headaches, the OSD had very few settings to adjust the image, and MSI has garbage customer support. Their monitors require sending the monitor to them for a firmware update. Anyways, enough of that. I was unsure if I should keep that monitor because there were no better alternatives available. Just risky gambles like the Samsung Chg70. But then this one showed up. I felt like I could trust Gigabyte on this since Their IPS version is so popular and well-regarded, and I have an Aorus motherboard that runs like a champ. So I gave this one a shot. I'm extremely pleased with this monitor. Here are my thoughts on this monitor so far: -It arrived with no stuck or dead pixels, no damage at all. It was shipped in it's own box and not inside another newegg box. -The base looks thin at first but it's very sturdy, highly adjustable and has a very small footprint and can be quite tall. -The monitor comes with HDMI, DP, USB cable to plug it to the PC, and 3 types of power cables including US. However, I used my own DP 1.4 cable. But the one included should work fine. -No noticeable backlight bleed, uniformity issues or glow of any kind. The panel seems nearly perfect. -Colors may or may not need calibration/adjustment. I don't know. But there are tons of settings including gama, vibrancy and black tuner as well as dynamic contrast and black equalizer and custom color settings. Those were the most handy from the top of my head. And an extra feature, is one that allows you to compare your new settings with the old ones by splitting the screen. It's there and it works well. The colors look great and can look even nicer than a typical IPS monitor. -No noticeable trailing or ghosting at all. This monitor is comparable to IPS performance-wise. -The curve is not as steep as it's made out to be. However, it gives an illusion of the monitor being smaller than it truly is. -Text is crisp and not fuzzy at all -It looks pretty much as good as my glossy IPS laptop screen, but higher res and perhaps even nicer. -There's 10-bit and 12-bit mode on AMD settings for this monitor as well as HDR. HDR looks bad but you can enable the 10-bit and 12-bit without HDR which is something I didn't know was possible. Odd that they advertise this one as 8-bit. -Many games are capped at 60fps, keep that in mind. But that has nothing to do with the monitor. Games that do support any refresh rate will run great on this one. I'm not sure what else to add. I love this monitor, and surely recommend it. It's got everything I ever wanted and then some. As good as the IPS variant, but on VA. Pick this one over any Samsung, MSI or AOC monitor if you think it's worth it for your needs. I haven't tried every single feature yet such as the ANC, black equalizer and other things but I'll give them a try eventually and update this review as necessary. Happy to be one of the first few to get this monitor.
