Send online video, music, and anything from the web to your TV from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
Chromecast is the easiest way to enjoy online video, music, and anything from the web on your TV. Plug it into any HDTV and control it with your existing smartphone, tablet, or laptop. No remotes are required. Cast your favorites from Google Play Movies & Music, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, HBO GO, and Chrome browser to your TV with the press of a button.
With Chromecast, you can easily watch and share your favorites—videos, music, photos, websites, and more—from Netflix, YouTube, Hulu Plus, Pandora, Google Play Movies and Music, HBO GO, and Chrome on your TV in HD. No more huddling around small screens and tiny speakers. Chromecast automatically updates to work with a growing number of apps, so you'll always have the latest.
Chromecast works with devices you already own, including Android tablets and smartphones, iPhone®, iPad®, Windows®, Mac®, and Chromebooks.
Get started in 3 easy steps: plug Chromecast into an HDMI port on your TV, connect it to WiFi, then cast videos and more from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to your TV.
Pros: Simple effective tech, does what it should and does it well.
Cons: Local media streaming apps would be the clincher, there are a few that will do it (Plex and Avia IIRC), but it's not as idiot proof as it needs to be.
Overall Review: I love these things, I have 3 dumb TVs in my house each with a googlecast plugged into it. The grandkids love the fact they can cast their minecraft (groan) videos onto the big screen. I like the fact I have another doohickey to play with
