Pros: A quantum leap above steering with a game controller. I usually run with the paddle shifters and automatic clutch. You can feel the rumble strips, gravel, bumps in the road. And you can regulate how much 'weight' the wheel has. It also returns to center due to caster just like a real car. It is lots of fun and I'm 55 years old. Wish I was a teenager again. I'd stay in my room all day and play racing simulators and look at the poor women with no clothing on the internet.
Cons: The Logitech Profiler configuration manager has several settings as do the individual driving simulators. It takes some research to figure out how to set it up. Just Google it and you'll get it figured out.
Overall Review: When I put the car in reverse to back out of the tire wall or whatever else I hit, my body pitches back due to the perception of inertia created by the wheel and the visuals on the screen. Very immersive. All I need now is a full motion base. Not.
Pros: I have been a gamer since I was about 5 years old (1985), and have always loved racing games. As long as I can remember I have always wanted a steering wheel in my own house. After very extensive research I bit the bullet and bought this wheel. Build Quality - As soon as I opened the box I was impressed. Leather and aluminum abound. The wheel is of comparable quality to any aftermarket wheel you might toss in a real car and the pedals have a great feel. The H style shifter is better than many I have used in arcade games. All the components have a nice weight to them. Game Integration - I only have experience thus far with GT5 on PS3, Live for Speed and rFactor on PC. The logitech profiler program is great and you can customize the numerous buttons as much as you like. As far as GT5, currently it doesn't have its own profiler. More on that later... however, it still works just fine. Force feedback - You'll feel the car tugging on you in the corners. It will change how you race
Cons: My only complaint is that Logitech and Polyphony didn't get together and add a profile for the G25 and G27 in GT5. There are numerous other wheels, and it seems both companies point the finger at the other blame wise. Currently there is a slight problem with the clutch pedal, if you shift too fast, it will think you missed a shift and the transmission will stick in neutral. For now I just speed shift without the clutch. Not so much of a "con", but a heads up. As I mentioned before, this thing has some weight. Do not think you can use a folding dinner tray to mount it.
Overall Review: There is a steep learning curve with this wheel. I have been playing racing games forever, and I also have raced cars as well. Don't think you can hop in a 700hp Skyline and tear it up, it takes time. However, I can tell you that ripping through Laguna Seca in a F1 car while using the paddle shifter is the most fun I have had in a racing game ever. I am very happy with my purchase. Now, I just need a PlaySeat!
Pros: Very nice build quality. Also, the paddle shifters have a sturdy feel and are made out of metal. Everything feels solid and can hopefully take some abuse. Was recognized immediately by Windows Vista, but it did not have the new buttons that the G25 did not have so I had to install the drivers from the cd. Shipping was also nicely boxed compared to my last couple of orders.
Cons: The "leather" wrapped wheel isn't the greatest but it feels better then just plain plastic.
Overall Review: Read some of the reviews about the G25 and they said that the peddals were all at the same level. It seems like they might have fixed that because the new brake pedal sits higher then the throttle now. Also, doesn't say but it comes with a copy of rfactor. Now I just have to learn how to not suck so bad using the new equipment.
Pros: First wheel I have owned. Bought for PC. Owned 4 days. Not a professional or amature racer. Easy setup of hardware, well built, drivers installed and wheel works no problem. I can set it up or move it in <min. I just set it aside on an empty side spot on my desk. Spring loaded thumb knobs tighten it to the desk. They hold tight. Clutch and break pedals feel about right. Accel pedal may be just a bit light. H-shifter has some breakover feel when going into gears. Profiler lets you adjust wheel settings for each game. The wheel can fight back as much as you want it to. (It's stong) The pedal plate holds solid on carpet unless you get really crazy with the clutch.
Cons: I think the accel pedal resistance is a bit light but that is my opinion. But, it is still linear and responsive and allows feathering.
Overall Review: Overall Experience: 1st day: Oh, I can not control this thing. I'm wall to wall. 2nd day: I'm getting the hang of this. Yeah! 3rd day: I freaking love it!! 4th day: I can't play a racing game without it. If this is your first wheel, play with it and learn the settings. This is crucial! Set it to where you have the most fun. It is fully adjustable between the profiler and in game settings. PC games played with: GRID Shift 2 unleashed Dirt 3 F1 2010 NFS: Hot Pursuit
Pros: ** This is a follow-up to my initial review on 12/22/2009. I put more than one year on ownership length because it has nearly been a year and the ownership timeframes you can select are not granular enough. Please see my previous reviews for more info/details. I must say i'm very happy with this wheel... I'd say i'm close to feeling like i've got my $300 out of it in just a year's use. I've put just over 10,000 miles of driving on it in NFS Shift, the only racing game I play. As mentioned in my previous review(s), once you get NFS Shift's controller settings setup the way you like, the game is huge amounts of fun to play with this wheel! I've not yet had any real issues with my wheel or pedals in all of their (probably weeks worth) of use. So props on sturdy build quality and reliability. All in all I am VERY happy with my purchase... granted it is somewhat expensive, but worth it if you are really into racing.
Cons: Not really a negative hit but an annoyance. I've found the paddles getting in the way of my fingers sometimes when moving around the wheel quickly. Sometimes accidentally tapping a paddle and changing a gear when I didn't want to. You could simply change settings so they don't work in the game, assuming you only use the manual gearbox and problem solved. However I still occasionally drive with the paddles so that is an inconvenient option. It would be very nice if Logitech made the paddles removable, so you could quickly uninstall and reinstall the paddles. Either that or a simple button to disable/enable them. Also I prefer stationary paddles, not ones that go around with the wheel, but that is a small nitpick. I've already gone over the somewhat weak mounting solution the wheel provides on its own, and I STRONGLY recommend bolting this thing down permanently so it has no chance to move. However due to space constraints i've had to remove the wheel and reinstall it from my desk...
Overall Review: ..It seems the mounting bolt holes are made of somewhat soft steel, and frequently screwing and unscrewing the bolt into the mounting holes has started to damage the threads. So if you mount this, I recommend mounting it and leaving it alone, don't move it unless you absolutely have to. The FFB motor feels like it has lost maybe 15% of its strength. and maybe is a bit more mushy feeling, less precise.. but it is still very strong and reactive. This is really a matter of perspective so I can't say for sure, but it definitely doesn't feel as strong as it was new. However this does not in any way deter me from wanting to go racing. My last concern is Logitech's 1 year warranty. I realize any major defects would likely have appeared before this one year warranty, but Logitech is essentially saying they don't know if the product will last more than a year. If the FFB motor goes out of whack or gives up within another 2 years I will be very unhappy. Let's just hope that doesn't happen!
Pros: Budget sim racer dream come true. Silent operation of world class force feedback. Truly easy setup. Quality of assembly and materials. LED shifter lights work on rFactor and GTR2 now. Brake pedal feel. Shall I go on?
Cons: I waited too long to get one.
Overall Review: After years and countless rebuilds on my old ActLabs Force RS w/shifter (and 2pedal setup) I finally took the plunge. First impression was so dramatic the old setup was garbage can material immediately. Some previous reviews state here of light gas pedal feel? Nonsense! It's heavier feeling than my real car and is even heel-toe adjustable. Driving with your asphalt spreader boots on perhaps? Mess of wires? Bully again! Only four! Hard to center with no feel? Get a properly supported program with proper plugin and ADJUST PARAMETERS. Most important here. I'm all done with mine. It's better than perfect. Tell EA to make proper programs. This comes with rFactor install. You must mod the daylights out of it. I've got 30gigs and counting. It has transformed my approach to sim racing and this old man has been doing it awhile. It's the one to own, and worth the out of a toy price range.
Pros: ** NOTE, First day review, only used a few hours so far. I will post back in a couple weeks and again in a couple months and report how it's doing. - Solid overall construction. - Metal wheel and paddles feel solid and will last the journey for sure. - Quiet FFB motor is nice to have and the motors are strong (for now at least). - Leather on wheel is good, but not great. - H-Shifter is fun and convenient to have. - Excellent weight in pedals, very heavy brake, but slightly lighter clutch pedal (still heavy though), light accelerator pedal. Feels very realistic. - Good weight balance for pedal unit, stays put on floor, doesn't feel like it is going to flip over if you press too hard on the pedal.
Cons: - Overall mounting system is barely acceptable. The wheel really needs the large plastic screw on the bottom like on previous Logi wheels had, it doesn't take much to pull it off no matter how hard you tighten the it. The H-Shifter has the screw, but it just doesn't grip tight enough... When engaging reverse gear i've found it starting to slide off my desk. - Buttons on wheel have been in my way when wrestling with the steering. - Pedals are a bit noisy when quickly returning to lifted position. - H-Shifter isn't as notchy as a real sports car gearbox, so mis-shifts and wrong gears will happen until you get used to it.
Overall Review: I upgraded from a Logi Momo Racing FFB and it is a world of difference! 900* steering, pedals have much better weight, wheel is quiet and quick thanks to FFB motors. It was totally with the money... I just hope this product lasts. While it feels solid, use over time will tell the true story. I got fed-up with my Momo's wheel self-calibration issues and glitchy pedal position detection. The wheel mounting system is insufficient I ended up buying two 6x40mm bolts/screws with washers, drilled holes through my 1-inch-thick wood desk, and mounted the wheel that way. Solid as a rock now. I've been playing NFS SHIFT a lot with my previous wheel, and this new G27 just blows it out of the water! SHIFT's controller preset defaults are poor, but once you get the settings just right it's awesome! The Nurburgring is going to be so much fun now! Simply put, if you like to race in real life, participate in auto-cross and track days like I do, and like racing games on the PC, then this is a
Pros: High quality and solid construction with leather and aluminum. Force feedback and centering spring make it a very customizable by changing settings using the Logitech Profiler software. Many racing games support this controller very well. Very immersive. Multiple shift options including paddles, gearshift, or gearshift+clutch. Braking and throttle also have a good feel and aren’t binary. Takes driving games to a new level.
Cons: Wheel rotates upon starting the computer and also upon entering into Windows 7. This seems unnecessary.
