Buyer Beware 11/11/2019 11:50:11 AM

Pros: Its extremely well made, quality part although it isn't perfect and the biggest problem with Razer is their repair procedure which begins with shipping it to them via an RMA which you may or may not get depending on which hoops you jump through and who you're talking to.
DO NOT lose, misplace or forget where you bought it, your receipt and get a microscope as you might need one to read the model and serial numbers on the back of your laptop.
Given the price of your laptop, the warranty being 12 months, if it stops working after the warranty and it turns out it is not repairable, it would be the most expensive brick you ever owned. Advice, find a better laptop with a better service turn around as I have read through many reviews and came to the conclusion that its one of those products in which the buyer needs to read as many online reviews as possible and be aware its a risk which that I would avoid. Try MSI, Toshibea, Lenovo or a product that actually has better reviews

Cons: The worst possible product to get serviced as Razer Canada doesn't have any repair centers that I am aware of which means an exceptionally long turn around time if and when you get an RMA number. Its simply not a company that I would buy anything from and I see many new models put on line by other buyers. Considering the price, the 1 year warranty, I am sure I would have saved money if I just leased a laptop instead of being hand cuffed with this one

Overall Review: Razer uses high end, quality parts and they make every effort to make them better but the very fact that they install ribbon cables directly against the metal case is a recipe for failure. I had to buy an 10mm, 8 pin ribbon cable with a 0.5 pitch connector ends from an independent seller as Razer DOES NOT, sell, replace nor ship parts PERIOD. I had to install a flat piece of electrical tape, stick side down, against the case to provide additional insulation between the ribbon cable and the case so it wouldn't short out again. Keep in mind this is a very thinly insulated 60 volt cable and the slightest issue will cause damage to the cable and your laptop, so be smart, use some vinyl electrical tape to insulate any and all ribbon cables that are installed next to the metal case of your laptop as Razer hasn't provided anything to insulate these ribbon cables aside from what little insulation the ribbon cables come with.

Glitch City :( 6/26/2019 1:15:44 PM

Pros: - Nice screen and keyboard.
- Battery life is longer than expected.
- Lots of storage.

Cons: - Trackpad is very glitchy.
- Keyboard shortcuts don't usually work.
- Poor sound quality.
- Poor speaker placement.
- The app windows don't snap into place as they're supposed to.
- App windows don't work properly when one window is zoomed in.

Overall Review: This is my first PC, so forgive me for expecting this machine to run as smoothly as a Mac... but it just doesn't. What is the point of having keyboard shortcuts if they don't work? Overall, it is incredibly glitchy and inferior quality since things randomly stop working. I'm disappointed and would only recommend this laptop if it were at least $1000 cheaper. And if you buy it anyway, at least get the insurance. And don't get a used one. Mine is brand new and it's already jacked up.

Great! 5/16/2019 2:23:50 PM

Pros: -Beautiful display with vibrant colors
- Games Well
-Build quality is great

Cons: - none

Overall Review: Im not sure what the other reviewer is on about. The Display looks great. Yes, it is 1080p and 60hz. But you knew that before buying it right? So how is that a criticism. The bezel is very small except on the bottom. And the sound is fine. The reason why so many customers write good reviews is because we are content with our product. The reason why Razer has such great reviews from not only its customers but computer/tech reviewers and influencers alike, is because Razer products are solid. The criticisms are very weak imo.

Razer, great to showcase your wealth, very disappointing for everything else 5/13/2019 6:47:19 AM

Pros: It boots and hasn't caught fire

Cons: Razer seems to have reach enough of a fan base to charge below average products Premium prices and still have people write nice reviews, assuming those are not fake.
Terrible screen, 1080P 60Hz on a gaming laptop with a thick edge around the panel at this price point really?
Bad ventilation, it gets very hot and a bit noisy when the graphic card's fan kicks in
Bad speakers, if you don't plan on using a headset, lower your expectations, tin cans sound good next to this.
Design, other than the logo on the back of the screen, it looks like the laptop comes straight from 1999, thick, very square, bulky and much heavier than my previous laptop.
Indicated battery run-time was nowhere close to what you get even at eco mode with the screen insufficiently lid and only Word running...
Touch-pad is sensitive and will move your cursor if your hand is too close while typing
No fingerprint reader

Overall Review: I spent almost double on this laptop expecting quality and being able to keep this laptop for years to come since MSI did not have a good reputation among my geeky friends. I regret believing the hype about Razer, the seller does not allow returns and now I need to reconsider the stamp of approval of said friends

All your Base models belong to us 11/27/2018 8:51:13 PM

Pros: I have spent more time than I'd like to admit looking into 15" gaming laptop options over the last ~5 months. I travel a lot for work/military and was looking for a machine that could:
a) Handle most modern games (max settings not necessary)
b) Have enough battery life to get me through the airport/flight
c) Be small enough that it's not inconvenient to carry
d) Have a 15" screen
e) Wouldn't break the bank (less than $1700, and closer to $1300 if possible)

I looked into the MSI g65, Aero 15, Eluktronics Mech-15v2, Asus Zephyrus S and peripherally the Blade 15.

Ultimately, back in August I purchased the Mech-15 due to the price/specs and though it was a nice laptop it ran hot, the battery only lasted 2 hours, and the control center didn't feel like a truly polished piece of software, so I returned it shortly thereafter.

I then spent the rest of the fall looking at the rest of the field and was reluctant to pull the trigger on any of them, mostly due to the price point of those machines, but also because of reservations that I had with all of them for one reason or another. I was on the verge of purchasing the Zephyrus when it launched, but the glut of laptops with quality control issues deterred me.

I hadn't given the Razer much thought because it was waaaaay above the price point I wanted to stay within, but when the Base model was released suddenly there was an option that was within the upper bounds of what I wanted to spend. It was close enough to Black Friday that I figured I'd wait to see if there were any deals, and pulled the trigger through Newegg when they had the discount code + $100 steam gift card.

I've had it in hand for the better part of a week now and can categorically say that this laptop is a fantastic deal for the cost, and it performs admirably in every way.

- Idle temp sits in the low 40s and is totally silent when doing light web browsing/youtube (the most likely use in an airport for me).
- The battery lists close to 9 hours of charge time in battery saver mode, and I was able to use it for most of a day without the battery running out. I fully believe that somewhere in the 7 - 9 hour range is fully realizable.
- CPU stress tests in AIDA64 held stable at ~59-60c with the fans at less than full speed.
- The fans, when spun up, are not overly loud/intrusive
- GPU test in Heaven had the laptop sitting between 65 and 70c at max settings and locked at 60fps (no real reason to push fps any higher as the refresh rate of the screen is 60hz).
- Getting to the internals is super easy. I was able to swap out the 1TB drive for an SSD in less than 15 minutes soup to nuts.
- Phenomenal build quality. It's like a mac in black... feels great, looks great, I have no reservations about it's chassis
- No real bloatware. The preinstalled Synapse suite for chroma control is not intrusive at all, and is actually quite useful.
- Trackpad is awesome. Feels smooth and pleasant to the touch, is super responsive, a pleasure to use.

Cons: Some nitpick cons:
- m.2 drive is small... it will definitely need to be upgraded at some point, but for now I have everything shunted to my 2.5" ssd, so it exists fine as just an OS boot drive
- The logo on the lid is lit in conjunction with the backlight for screen, so unlike other Razer models, you can't turn off the logo through the synapse software
- The keyboard might take a little getting used to. I personally prefer shallower travel keyboards, so the depth of the keystrokes aren't something that bothers me, but I find myself setting my left pinky on the capslock key instead of the 'a' key... not sure what the deal is with it, but my muscle memory puts me shifted a little. The arrow being to the left of the shift key hasn't bothered me once.
- 60hz screen... this may or may not be a con for you. I don't mind it at all... this isn't my primary computing device (I have a gaming pc at home along with various consoles), it's exclusively for traveling. My home monitors give me the high refresh rate experience when I'm gaming, and 60hz is more than adequate on a 15" screen on the go... it also helps extend battery life because the screen isn't as much of a drain on the system.

Overall Review: Can you get more hardware for comparable of less money? Absolutely... I purchased one such machine before this one, but once you look at the whole package the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

If you're looking for a sleek machine, that doesn't scream gamer, can last most of the day on a single charge, tackle modern games with aplomb, do so all with good thermals, and you don't want to break the bank with a $2k+ laptop, than this is the machine for you.

needs better battery 11/19/2018 6:27:24 AM

Pros: -It does have an Ethernet cable port
-Build-in blootooth
-Love the HDMI out, hook it to a bigger screen for games
-Does not over heat as much as YouTube reviews say
-Weights 4 pounds, very light imo
-The 1060 GPU can handle any game I throw at it, slightly wish I had the 1070 model
-Runs very quiet, I can barely hear it

Cons: -BATTERY LIFE is around half of what I expected (3 - 4 hours of life at max)
-Wish it was a faster laptop, considering how fast the CPU is and the 16gb ram
-I can see all my fingerprints

Overall Review: Apart from the battery I think this is the best gaming laptop I’ve every had. Saved around $500 with the bonus offer so I’m happy with my purchase
