Pros: I ran Hard Disk Sentinel on the drive and it has perfect SMART readouts. There are no bad sectors on the drive; it is at 100% health. When I plug it in, the spin up sounds perfect. You don't get any of those weird sounds that the old Seagate externals threw out. The drive comes with excellent software, Samsung Drive Manager, that allows one to use features like "AutoBackup, SecretZone, Diagnostics, & Disk Management. It also has an eject USB external disk button built into the Drive Manager. The SecretZone feature is awesome! It allows you to set security encrypted partitions at anytime. It can use free space from the overall current drive space and allocate it to as many Secure Drives as you want to create with their own assignable drive letters. You can Mount or Unmount these partitions at will. Those Secure Zones need passwords to mount whereas your normal partition comes up in "Computer" like normal.
Cons: The micro USB-B 3.0 port on the back of the drive could be a little more sturdy. I personally feel the USB-B connection for 3.0 technology should be have a larger connection type for 3.5" devices the same way that USB 2.0 ports have a nice firm square port. The USB 3.0 cable is 1 meter. I would prefer it be shipped with a 2 meter cable, but I'll just pick one up on theBay.
Overall Review: Runs at a nice temperature of around 105 degrees Fahrenheit in a normal room temperature house of 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I've had 2 Samsung Story Externals as well as a Samsung internal; they are all 2TB drives that I've had running with logged power on times of over 1 year each. They all still have SMART readings of 100% Performance & Health. I think that is quality. They have impressed me so far. 2 years from now I will be able to compare them to Western Digital's long held reputation. Just take a look at the Androids they have created! If they can make that happen with such brilliance, I am confident of what they can do in other technological aspects.
