One touch of Tablo's interface on your tablet and you'll never settle for a remote control again. It's visually rich and colorful, intuitively organized and easy to browse by genre, channel and time.

Tablo DVR. Unleash your HDTV.

Tablo is a next-generation DVR that plugs into your HDTV antenna to capture free, local HDTV broadcast programs including news and sports within the US and Canada. Unlike traditional DVRs that are connected to one TV, Tablo connects to your local network to stream live and recorded HDTV content to any connected device inside your home or anywhere you have Internet.

HDTV is Available for Free, Over-the-Air

Most North Americans living in or near major urban centers are within range of local TV broadcast towers, which means they have access to Free HDTV using a simple ATSC antenna plugged into their TV.

Tablo - HDTV on the Go

Take your favorite local broadcast TV shows and sports with you. Tablo combines the convenience of a DVR with the mobility of your tablet, smartphone, and laptop to let you enjoy Free HDTV anytime, anywhere on any device.

Cut the cord. Enjoy free HDTV.

Save over $2,000 in two years by cutting the cord. Tablo lets you watch, record and stream your favorite local TV content from your HDTV antenna live and in high definition, without the cost or commitment of cable or satellite contracts.

A Better Way to Watch Free HDTV

Tablo's intuitive touch interface with gorgeous artwork and program details lets you view your favorite broadcast shows and sports by genre, channel or time - all in crystal clear high definition.

How Tablo Works

Beautiful HDTV programming is broadcast from large towers and sent out over the air by your local TV stations. With an HDTV antenna, you can capture these signals for free. By plugging your antenna into Tablo DVR, you can record your favourite programs on an external USB hard drive. Tablo streams these live and recorded HDTV programs to your connected devices via your home WiFi network, including your big screen TV using AppleTV, Roku or Chromecast.

Watch Broadcast TV on Any Device

Tablo lets you watch live and recorded television on any device in your home.

Experience Better Quality HD Video That Won't Tie Up Your Bandwidth

Cable operators compress their TV signals to conserve bandwidth in order to deliver multiple services (phone, TV and Internet) over a single connection. Over-the-Air (OTA) HDTV signals received through antennas are uncompressed, delivering an incredibly crisp HD picture far superior to what you've been getting from your cable provider.

Tablo Redefines the remote control

One touch of the Tablo interface on your iPad or Android Tablet and you'll never settle for a traditional remote control again. It's visually rich and colorful, intuitively organized and easy to use.

The ultimate cord cutting solution

Tablo captures delivers live, local HDTV broadcast programs you can't get through Over The Top (OTT) Internet content providers like Hulu and Netflix using an HDTV antenna. Catch up on hometown news and sports and watch your favorite network shows live without having to wait until the next day AND without the pricey cable bill.

Please Read before buying "30 Day free trial"

Pros: It records TV great for 30 days.
Update: Since at least the beginning of 2018, "Failed recordings" issue with the "Full OS $150 software ", Issue with not deleting old recording even tho "auto delete once full" tab being selected. Once full disk is maxed NO RECORDINGS!
So please delete yourself or loose new recordings.

Cons: Almost unusable after 30 day "free" trial of full OS software. So if you are not willing to chuck over another $150 for full OS software after your $200 purchase of device, you have waisted $200 dollars. So... Here's Tablos scam: Forced at day one setup to start the 30 days trial of full OS so 30 days later when you experience the bare bone VCR type setup of "Basic OS" in you won't return it due to 30 day return policies has kicked in!

Overall Review: True price $350 for device with subscription! Best of all... when device dies and you have to buy replacement you will buy the device and subscription again due to subscriptions are linked to only the device, not account. Please review "life of the Tablo devices" this device is lucky to receive 2 years before dying!

Im enjoying my new Tablo

Pros: I found it easy to hook up. Had to play around with the position of the antenna which I put in my attic for more channels. Positioning the antenna was the most time consuming. I found that the best way to run this is thru a router that is on its own if you have a video game such as PS4. It buffered when the PS4 and Tablo were on the same router so I separated them.

Different stations, changes in signals from weather and such will affect reception and will make the Tablo work great on some days and sometimes buffering or choppy video can occur but that has to do with the signal , not the Tablo.

Overall it is working most of the time very good. The signal loss is out of everyones control . Even when I had cable there were occasional glitchs and digital blips so Id rather save from paying over and over for channels I dont watch and movies that are the same over and over as well.

Cons: The component gets too hot. Bottom should be raised to allow the air to move under it.

Overall Review: I would recommend this product.

Worse Device Ever

Pros: Zero

Cons: Everything .. Keeps dropping the connection and very difficult to reconnect to my Roku Ultra. I have spent so much money on this and supporting hardware plus lifetime subscription because I trusted Tablo. Tablo company will not answer any of my emails. My Tablo hasn't worked for 2 days now and I have spent many hours rebooting the system and doing whatever I can think of to make it work. It refuses to connect and I receive zero support. Newegg only gives you 30 days for returns. Difficult to test everything in 30 days. I will have nothing to do with Tablo or Newegg. Bad service with both companies.

Overall Review: Don't but Tablo products. No support and it is an over priced plastic box that over heats and very unstable. You need to buy a hard drive and a Roku to even operate this garbage and then after all of the money spent it will not continue to work for you. On top of this, Tablo will ignore you. Stay away from Tablo.

Quits working often. Poor excuse for a DVR Tuner

Pros: 4 tuners, connect to a large hard drive, good support, small device, easy to use, great Live TV guide

Cons: I need to reboot the Tablo too often to connect so I can watch TV. It probably happens every couple months.
Also when I did an update Tablo sent to me, I could no longer connect and use my Tablo DVR. I did several hours of troubleshooting, rebooting, and resetting my modem and router .... so many times ... before I could get it to work again. SO FRUSTRATING. It really is too bad too because this could be the best DVR for OTA TV out there.
I have had it for awhile now and it keeps dropping out and won't allow me to reconnect unless I reboot the Tablo. I might need to reboot several times before it connects. Also, Tablo sent out an update and after the update was downloaded, my Tablo would not connect and I lost all recordings scheduled that night. I worked with it from 7:30 PM until 11:00 that night. I sent Tablo an email and did not receive a response. This is a good idea with poor execution. I am having trouble with my Tablo again tonight and I am about ready to throw it out the window. Sad thing is, I paid for lifetime subscription. Expensive equipment for a faulty build and too much for their so called live TV Guide. Don't buy it, you will also be sorry and frustrated.
I Hate My Tablo!!!!

Overall Review: Tablo is over priced plastic junk that will fail far too many times

Made the decision to cut the cord easier!

Pros: Picture reproduction is flawless-- whatever you get ota is what is recorded. Small footprint. Some don't like having a separate hard drive, but you can get so much more storage compared to TIVO, and easier to swap out if HD goes bad. Optional program guide makes scheduling of programs a snap, on par with any cable or satellite company DVR.

Cons: There is a noticable lag when switching stations, depending what recording quality setting you choose. Audio volume is on the low side, causing me to raise TV or amp volume much higher than usual. Audio at this time is limited to Dolby 2.0, good sounding stereo but not the 5.1 many ota programs broadcast.

Overall Review: I'm very satisfied with my 4 tuner Tablo. I did a lot a research first and took Tablo over TIVO Roamio. Most complaints for either are reception. Obviously, you will never get a better ota broadcast with a recording device than what the signal is. Get an antenna first and see what channels you get and whether you can be satisfied with that before buying any ota DVR! The 4-tuner Tablo at $250 + $150 for a lifetime subscription is equal to the TIVO Roamio ota at $400. Of course, you'll need a HD for the Tablo, but if you don't already have an extra gathering dust, a 2 TB WD Elements goes for under $70 and is pretty versatile. Deal breaker for me is that TIVO only services one TV by HDMI and extra wireless units are now $180 each, so to add two TVs to TIVO is another $360. Tablo runs through an app (now including 2016 and later Samsung Smart TVs) on any Roku, FireStick, etc-- as well as Chrome browser on PCs (not sure about Macs), up to six devices at a time (but limited to the 4 tuners). I think it's great:)

Great idea but needs broarder platform support

Pros: can record watch/stream live TV and recorded shows to any device with a supported app.

Cons: recordings needs external hard drive purchased separately
cannot connect via HDMI to a display as it is a network device only.
no SmartTV App for Samsung TVs - all my TVs are Samsung
per monthly charge for guide data service.

Helps with cutting the cord

Pros: the channels come in clear
the dvr guide is easy to use and works how it should
this device is simple to use but still has so much powerful features
can view live tv and recordings on any roku device

Cons: takes a few seconds when changing channels

Overall Review: We have just dumped DirecTV and purchased a Tablo and signed up for PlayStation Vue. Both services have been fantastic and the price of Vue is a quarter of what we were paying Directv. The Tablo has been superb. It took a little bit to get good reception. The indoor antennas would not bring in all the channels so we had to go with a roof mounted setup. Being able to watch tv anywhere in the house on our Roku's through the Tablo is the one it should be. I am glad we started this year off by making this change.

Excellent OTA option - Insightful features and business model - Have one ourselves and for Parents

Pros: Pretty good basic concept by a small company nimble enough to modify their initial design after market opportunities changed. Originally Tablo was designed to record OTA video to be served later to tablets and smart phones locally or over the "internets", but many early users also ended up viewing Tablo video on their TV's thru Chromecast, Roku and other devices. The company expanded it's features to support this new use model. By leaving the digital to video conversion stage to larger electronics company's devices it frees Tablo from the burden of keeping up with every new video output upgrade (4k ..etc) providing some future-proofing letting them concentrate on their niche - a good DVR/Tivo like OTA interface and remotely serving your recorded OTA media anywhere to tablets and phones with internet access.

I use an Nvidia Shield as the video device served by Tablo, viewed on our 4k LCD TV. This works great in our Seattle OTA market with a rooftop antenna. The interface is user friendly enough that I bought one for my 84 year old engineer father with modest TV viewing habits. He likes it and the cost savings sans a cable subscription. His Tablo sends video streams to an (Forest in Brazil) FireTV hooked their TV.

Some users can transfer/convert the non-encrypted Tablo video files into MP4 ..etc, very nice. I wish it used a faster HD interface than USB2, but Tablo designers say USB2 is fully capable of maintaining the required transfer speed off the drive (EXT4 format).

IMHO compared to Tivo or TWC the cost of the Tablo guide service is very reasonable: $5 month, $50 year, or $150 lifetime. Unlike Tivo the lifetime option is NOT tied to your specific device, instead it's your user account with Tablo. You can upgrade to new hardware or have more than one box and your lifetime subscription is still valid. My brother bought Tivo subscriptions years ago and is upset at having to repurchase subscriptions in full again when he upgrades the hardware, or it breaks out of warrantee. Also the Tablo can still be used without any guide subscription if you want. Try that with a Tivo or a TWC box.

Cons: OK Tablo is a small Canadian company, they can't support every new interface idea users suggest, but they do seem responsive. If they go out of business the guide might go away, but Tivo just got purchased by a leveraged smucky big company that may not be supportive of current Tivo owners either. And at least with Tablo it will still work without the guide subscription, while the Tivo does not (as of this writing).

In the future it would be nice to have a faster external HD interface than USB2 ... just because.

Not cheap, but it's full feature set is unique compared to other OTA video recording devices and I want them to be profitable and stay in business for users like me.

Overall Review: Have already recommended Tablo to several friends.
