My old one from several years ago uses much thicker material and can carry heavier weight, even the tabs on the zippers are better made and the zippers themselves aren't visible at the surface, being nested in overlapped material.
The inside started to tear apart when I put two laptops inside, which the old one could handle no problem. The older model also has a side pocket each side and the newer one has just one and just a mesh on the other side
Overall Review: Only bought a new one because the old one was getting old and smelly from being on so many airplane floors.

Cons: Strap sewing came undone within about two weeks of having the backpack. I assume mine was just a defective one but it's not worth the cost for me to RMA.
Overall Review: It could be re-sewn, but I shouldn't have to fix a two week old product.
Pros: Fits most laptops and a few books.
Cons: Not too comfortable, feels a bit small (I'm 6' 200 lbs)

I was able to carry my 15" wide screen laptop along with books for two college courses.
Its 99% black, you know how hard it is to get a solid black backpack!
Cons: had it a year can't really find anything wrong with it.
Overall Review: I would classify this as a medium size backpack. I usually take two courses at a time, If I had to take three I would have to invest in a bigger backpack if I had to carry all the books at one time.
Pros: This backpack is cheap and will carry your stuff for awhile.
Cons: The quality of this product is lacking. After two years of normal college usage all the zipper pulls on my bag had come off and the zipper itself broke. Also, the elastic side pouches had become unsewn so i was left with floppy useless pouches.
Overall Review: The waist strap is pretty useless and mostly gets in the way. Better design choices can be found in The North Face Recon Backpack. Clearly this is Targus' loss leader. You will get what you pay for in all products you buy. I guess this product is a testament to that observation.
Pros: Lots of room, fits my text books along with my laptop with room for more.

Pros: The quality seems very high, from the zippers to the stitching. This is one of the few bags that provides excellent protection for your laptop, with all around cushioned support and a strap to hold it in aswell.
Cons: My last bag had many pockets, this one does not, which took some getting used to. This is however a personal distaste, therefor I am not deducting any eggies.
