Creativity in Motion.
Inspired by EOS technology, Canon developed the new EOS M Digital Camera. Canon introduced the market to Full HD video capture with smooth, quiet continuous autofocus made possible by Movie Servo AF and STM lenses, advanced CMOS sensor technology, and the processing power of DIGIC 5. The EOS M Digital Camera leverages these key technologies to deliver high-quality moving and still images with creativity provided by Canon's extensive family of interchangeable lenses.

Pros: The camera itself is great. A fantastic bargain for the price. The picture quality is essentially equivalent to the bigger Canon SLRs like the 60D, 7D, and/or Rebel. The slow focus is well known. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as bad as I expected. It works extremely well for family photos where the subjects are not moving around so much. It also works decently for movies where DSLRs like the Canon 5D Mark III will focus even slower. The size and weight of the camera is exactly what I was looking for as an alternative to my 5D Mark III. I had also looked at the Fuji X series as well as the micro 4/3rds, but they would have been way more expensive and a bit larger as well. The Canon EOS M works great as a secondary camera for any Canon photographer.
Cons: It's very disappointing that the camera shipped is silver, not black. It was also shipped in a package that originally contained a 90EX flash, so the seller obviously sold the components separately which explains the low price. The camera was programmed for PAL and not NTSC video by default (25fps instead of 30fps), so I would guess this originated in Europe. Also, the charger requires an awkward cable to plug into the wall to support international plugs as well. I am guessing the normal Canon USA charger uses the normal fold out plug. Keep these in mind since the low price comes with a bunch of caveats which will affect resale value. If I had known about these issues, I would not have bought this camera here.
Pros: Camera works fine
Cons: Camera delivered was silver, not black. No Canon warranty card. I assume these are, therefore grey market goods.
Pros: - Small size - Interchangeable optics from Canon: lots of choices (need an adapter) - Decent (not great, but very good) image quality, but to get that all corrections and additional 'features' are switched OFF - Good sensor / low light performance: up to ISO 6400 are tolerable
Cons: Cons of this camera are many, and most will make it not a viable option to me: - Ridiculously slow hybrid contrast/phase auto focus (gets somewhat corrected with new firmware, but...) - Super long (~2s!) transfer to card - Ridiculous sensor display keeps accidentally triggering while I wear the camera, and no way to remove the button from the menu!... I guess if you bag it every time, it's ok, but for those who wear it - it is absolutely bad - Again, during wear, sensor display screws up focusing zones while touching the clothes - Back light auto correction over-exposes way too much - Extremely unhandy to handle. One-hand handling is practically out of question (unlike with Sony or Olympus ones) - Miserable battery life: be prepared to carry not 2, but 3 batteries for one day (~300 shots per day, mixed usage)
Overall Review: I would wait a while... just overall user experience was unpleasant. It is great that I had a chance to try this camera out and test it for a couple of weeks, and did not end up owning it. Sony NEX-6 overall is better by overall user experience and happiness it gives back... or better yet the Olympus OM-D E-M5, which I would be choosing from.
Pros: Provides ALL functionality of larger Canon DSLR, mounts ALL Canon EF lenses (EF-M, EF-S, EF) with optional adapter, picture quality very high, movie quality very high, accepts Magic Lantern firmware, stereo microphone input, HDMI and USB output. USB output supports headphones (under Magic Lantern) and allows remote monitoring/control via Android tablet running DSLR controller (Beta)
Cons: Fast auto-focus requires light, do not expect auto-focus to work well in low light.
Overall Review: Purchased because one of the least expensive cameras with microphone input. I researched this camera extensively and was STILL blown away by functionality. Very robust.. 14 y.o. dropped it 4 ft. on concrete Day 1... no damage, no impairment. Another reviewer stated 'There is a bug in the design of the camera that often requires you to detach and reattach the lens before it will release the shutter. This is a known issue but Canon has not issued a fix for it. '. Have never heard of this before this review, have never experienced it. Purchased the body, EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lenses, and EX90 strobe. Happy with everything, specially given price paid.
Pros: -The picture and video quality on this camera are excellent. - Very small - lenses are great
Cons: -The auto focus is slow but with a update on the software it is improved
Overall Review: Some reviews stated they received a "grey market" camera that was silver, that was not the case for me. I received a black camera as shown in the pics. I ordered this on sale (279.00) from the seller DavisMax on 1/17 and received it on 1/21. Very fast shipping at a great price I would definitely recommend and shop with them again. Are there better mirror-less cameras out there? yes but for the price the canon eos m is a great buy small, durable and takes great quality photos and videos, I wasn't looking to spend alot on this and with the canon eos m I get quality with a good price.
Pros: First off I must say that i'm just a normal consumer and I picked this up here for 300 bucks! This is the first camera I've ever bought. Now to the pros: -Excellent pictures of course! I'll try and post links to some pics taken with this. -Lightweight -Many features! -Has a manual focus which is simply amazing! -Great battery life (im not sure what is standard) but ive taken over 500 photos already today and I just got this out of the box 5 hours ago and i still have full bars! I even too 7 videos! Read below about the vids though
Cons: Now onto the cons - KEEP IN MIND I'm just a stupid consumer, I'm a computer guy and I'm interested in photography so I got this to start me out. These are the things that I noticed. I just got this camera today and have shot about 500 pics already. -First off i didnt take any eggs off. i was about to because of this, but then i thought HEY this is a camera meant for still pictures, videos are just a bonus! But this is what my issue is. Maybe its because of my SD card, but when i try to take videos they only record for 17 seconds flat. -when doing AF+MF(auto focus and manual focus) and this is both at the same time, its a feature! :D you need to lightly press the button that you press to take pictures and hold it at the point when the box turns green and then you can rotate the precision focus cylinder on your lens to focus. It's very difficult while holding the camera. :( - decent speed on AF, again im new to cameras so i dont know what slow is, but its certainly not SSD fast ;) -it doesn't like to autofocus on things that are REALLY close, you need to manually focus on them for that.
Overall Review: Demonstration of picture quality! 1: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g5zh7gfgl0as6a8/IMG_0018.JPG 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cs2qjz91q0sehvb/IMG_0057.JPG 3: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cs2qjz91q0sehvb/IMG_0057.JPG ENJOY! I really am glad i finally bought a camera and im glad it was this one!
Pros: Small size, low light capability, superb kit lens, and APS-C size sensor
Cons: No viewfinder, slow AF, no built-in flash and strap holder is proprietary. Also this item is a gray market product.
Overall Review: I'm coming from a PowerShot G7 so this camera is still an upgrade for me. The AF is on par with my G7, so I;m used to it. Newegg should have indicated that this is a gray market product.
Pros: A camera at a good price
Cons: The camera is the wrong color, the camera is not a USA market product, the kit is a broken up larger kit. The camera arrived very late. A tracking number was created, and my credit card billed 6 days before it actually shipped.
Overall Review: A few days after I placed the order, and not receiving a shipment notice, I sent an email asking when it would ship. I received a shipment notice very soon after, and a notice I had been charged. I looked up the tracking number a few days later, and found that it had not shipped. I followed up again in a few days and again it had not shipped. I called and was told it would ship the next day. I received the camera today. It is silver, not the black ordered, it is gray market, it is part of a larger kit. All in all. not a good experience. The price was very good and , unless I have a warranty problem, it will do want I intend it to do.
