Even though it doesn't have pointy ears, this is one stylin' ELPH. Using the same box and circle design of the original ELPH cameras, Canon packed lots of features into this updated classic. In the center of the circle is a 3X optical zoom lens with a 5.8 – 17.4mm (equivalent to 35–105mm, in 35mm format) focal length. The back box is a 2.5" TFT LCD screen with 230K pixels that makes a great viewfinder or review screen.

The highly advanced DIGIC III has improved Face Detection Technology and Red-Eye Correction for sharp clear images that you don't need to edit on your computer. ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations.

Multiple shooting modes such as foliage, beach, snow and portrait automatically adjust their settings to make you the best photographer you can be. Color swap and color accent let you make some manipulations right on the camera. Five movie modes let you take short digital films, making sure you get all of the action.

Pros: Size, takes quick pictures, quick start up time.

Cons: Battery could be better.

Overall Review: I really enjoy using the SD1000. It takes good and quick pictures. This is perfect if you need to take a quick snap shot of a once in a lifetime event...like a raccoon chasing a squirrel or something...Just turn it on and shoot. Done in less than 10 seconds.

Solid camera 3/31/2008 7:51:58 PM

Pros: Small size (fits discreetly in a pocket), quick start-up, nice daytime & flash picture quality, don't need software to access the memory card via USB (This may only be in Windows, though). Good construction quality.

Cons: No anti-shake, low-light is kind of noisy (probably due to small image sensor). No usb charging of battery. The mechanism that extends & uncovers the lens on power-up makes me a little nervous, but it has yet to let me down. No RAW image support (not sure if this is a con on a point-and-shoot).

Overall Review: Very solid ultra portable. The SD1100 has since been released which has a higher MP count (I wouldn't worry about a 7mp vs 8mp though, these things don't have the optic & sensor quality to back those numbers up), newer DSP which adds anti-shake. The price is certainly right on this guy, though. If a point & shoot is what you want, this is what you can get and it will do the job.

Buy This Camera....NOW! 3/2/2008 8:33:06 PM

Pros: Listen, I just got my camera on Friday and have not stopped taking pics. The camera is mad small and you WILL forget that it's in your pocket due to the small form factor. The pics it takes are beautiful and the auto function is very efficient. The video mode is so good, I'm not sure if I will be carrying my Panasonic camcorder with me which is small and loaded with features but Canon has made a great product in this camera.

Cons: The camera comes with a 32MB card which is only provided to get you started somewhat. I put two snaps and a 10-15 sec video and it was full! I wish that Canon would have provided at least a 1-2GB card......it probably would have only increased the price by 10-15 bucks. I brought a 4GB SDHC card for only $25 right here from NewEgg so you can't beat that with a baseball bat!

Great little camera 2/26/2008 6:43:09 PM

Pros: Very fast pictures, menu, and start-up, good low-light (finally), easy to use manual settings, good product documentation, very good pictures for being such a small guy, very good-looking with the black accents, new models seem boxier than before which adds style... I could go on and on!

Cons: I can't think of one

Overall Review: My last Canon died after fairly sparse use over the last two years but I'm still a fan of their product line for better or for worse (electronics just aren't perfect). This is my third Canon digital camera and I also have a Canon Pixma MP610 which I REALLY like!

Cons: They don't make SLRs this small.

Simply Amazing 1/29/2008 3:50:28 PM

Pros: This camera is simply amazing. I chose this camera, because I wanted a small camera to be able to keep in my pocket all the time, but I wanted it to be very versatile. It meets both requirements with flying colors. Colors are beautiful, and images are very sharp. For a point and shoot it has a very large amount of controls, but it's also very simple to use.

Cons: I honestly sat down and tried to find things I didn't like and the only thing I could think of was that the flash is on AUTO automatically, so if you shut the flash off and then the camera off and then on again you have to turn the flash off. Other then that it's amazing.

Overall Review: My ex had the Canon A540 which was a great camera, but a little bulky. This camera is small (smaller then a pack of cigarettes) so is great to carry in your pocket all the time. Canon and Newegg are a great combo.

Simple and awesome 1/24/2008 12:37:11 AM

Pros: This is a easy to learn camera. It makes a novice look like a pro. Especially for a wallet sized camera.

Cons: It took 13 days to get it. Shame shame Newegg!

Overall Review: I got the bundle that had the case, battery, LCD cover, micro tripod, and 1G. SD card.
